10,000 B.C. - A Children Film

10,000 B.C. - A Children Film

I did not expect anything great in 10,000 B.C. and the movie is exactly like that. It has good special effects and CGI but thin story line.

As we had seen in past; director Roland Emmerich is known to put his hero in larger than life unusual difficult situation (independence day, the day after tomorrow…)…here he puts his hero in the world before 10,000 years of Christ’s existence. But that is the only thing which makes us interested in the movie. Then there are special effects, fights and exotic locations. That’s all about 10,000 B.C.

10,000 B.C.

The promos seemed to be quite interesting and I expected the life, the culture and the habits in 10,000 B.C. But the movie is not concentrated in those details. Hero is searching for his love; that has been kidnapped by other group. Here hero does not face any major difficulties. The work he has to do is only fight.

Though special effects are good, some of the action sequences are good (the attack of eagle like birds in jungle, hunting of elephants); it does not satisfy you. Nothing solid happens in the film. After 15 minutes of the film; you become sure for climax. And there is nothing to discuss about screenplay and performances.

So 10,000 B.C. might turn out to be more effective and entertaining if I was in primary school. Nothing special… An ordinary movie even for children.

Overall Grading: B

The main hero was such a bore…. no expressions at all…wears the same looks in all situations….. I thinks he was too bored to shoot for the film :)

finally, people will be able to out their bias aside and see Mel Gibson for the visionary filmmaker he is, and appreciate Apocalypto.

thank god for having camilla belle in the movie.. at least they got the eye candy part down.

as for the movie, it reminded me of apocalypto way too much except instead of escaping from the raiders, he was going towards them.. went in only expecting cool CGI and special fx.. and even those were nothing to write home about.

your review is short, but honestly there’s nothing more to say about the film than what you’ve said.

    overall film rating: C-
watch it if you feel like killing a couple of hours.

    @ 6 Gaurang -
that’s because he was “acting” against a green screen, and has poor imagination.

dabba …I donno why some ppl criticize Apocalypto …..i found it more interseting than Brave heart …i admire Gibson’s Vision , but most of his movies are driven by gore …

he chooses stories that have violence at the base of the conflict and does not shy away from showing them, and does not hollywoodize it.

Agree with you Dabba. Apocalypto was brilliant. So was ‘Passion…’ for the way it was filmed - not passing judgements on the content. Any clue when he is coming out with his next?

no idea mate. i usually don’t keep track of upcoming projects.

“B” Grade is way too generous ! . its more like “F” for me . CGI was sloppy for most parts . those mammoths didnt look like mammoths more like hairy elephants . Probably the most unoriginal and most unimaginitive film of the year . Sure shot for razzies this year .

yep i agree apocalypto was awesome , if not for gibson’s jewish rant it would have gotten more recognition which it truly deserved.

ya… tht would be the reason. considering that Naomi Watts was gr8 in KING KONG…
