First glimpse As The River Flows (Assamese)

This is the first-ever glimpse of upcoming Hindi movie As The River Flows (click here to watch the video). It will also have an Assamese version, titled Ekhon Nedekha Nadir Xipare, which literally means “Across an unseen river”.
It’s Bidyut Kotoky’s debut movie (he had won a special jury award at the 2005 National Film Award for his documentary “Bhramyoman Theatre: Where Shakespeare Sails With Titanic”, which was on the commerical travelling theatre groups of Assam.
Produced by NFDC, ATRF has Sanjay Suri, Victor Banerjee, Nakul Vaid, Raj Zutshi, Naved Aslam, debutante Bidita Bag and Priti Jhangiani in the main roles.
The cinematography is by Madhu Ambat, sound by Nakul Kamte, editing by Rajesh Parmar and music by Zubeen Garg. It has been shot on location in Assam and Mumbai.
Bidyut has written his thoughts on the idea behind the film quite poetically:
I know
long ago
the river used to speak.
But when he realised
every drop of pain
flows above horizon of words
he surrendered to silence.
People came to his bosom
creating to destroy
and named it civilization.
People came to his bosom
looking for the meaning in destruction
and called it history.
More the time flows
more the time remains still.
More the things change
more the things remain the same.
The drops of pain
mounting on the bank –
will it overflow…
as the River flows?
The premise of the film:
In the India’s state of Assam, during the last 2 decades, over 15,000 lives have been lost to insurgency and an unknown number of people remain traceless till date…

Thanks Runumi for introducing this film here…The team put together are that of exceptional artistes… I sincerely wish the end product delivers equally good quality…such films should be released pan-india…
Man, how do I see this film? I even have a gaggle of ahom friends who will gleefully pay to watch this..
Thanks Runumi for giving us glimpse of the film. Liked the poem too much.
Certainly nice to know about something interesting like this. Thanks Runumi for this. And any idea when this is likely to release ( both versions ) ?
count my thanks too runumi……
the subject is very relevant and a film on the same would be worth looking forward to. Also the poem raises the expectations from the film.
Any idea about the release date..?
Raj Zutshi told me about this film during our conversation at the Frozen press conference. I’ve been looking forward to it
Friends. The film is now on the edit table, and should be ready for release in October. I am fortunate to be part of this project (as a script consultant), more so because my first direct involvement in filmmaking has been through a film that has Assam as its soul. And it is to NFDC’s credit that the film is being made in both Hindi and Assamese, while the original idea was to make it only in Hindi so that a story with Assam as its current socio-political scenario as the backdrop for the all-India audience. We hope the film, with its exciting cast and crew, and the way it is shaping up, would be one of the films to look forward to this year.

Extremely curious to see what magic Madhu Ambat conjures up with Brahmaputra!!! All the best to the team.

Thanks Jiladitya.
good to see something meaningful from Assam after a long time…I thought the industry is already dead with the onslaught of VCD films…BTW the story seems to be inspired by Sanjay Ghosh episode…
