Hey guys!!! My schedule has prevented me from posting any one of the number of drafts I would like to post, or from watching any movies on the ever-growing stack, but that doesn’t mean that I am not having fun with movies!

Here is my shameless plug for the 3rd Annual SoCal Independent Film Festival. Due to feedback from interested filmmakers, and because filmmakers have already begun submitting films for the 2007 event, it was decided to open the call for entries early (it was originally scheduled for February 1, 2007).

I have written about the event here on PFC, and this year is already looking to be a more exciting event than last year! Much of the reason is due to the participation and interest of the independent filmmakers who are excited about an event that focuses on independent film, especially in a market like Southern California where there is a festival almost every month yet few focus on independent film, and none of those festivals are located in Orange County, a major metropolitan area with a large audience hungering for independent and foreign films.

Do you have an independent film in the can? Know someone who does? Send it in!

The 3rd Annual SoCal Independent Film Festival in Huntington Beach, CA has launched. Entries are now open. Get ready for 2007.

Entertainment. Art. Independence.

It’s what you haven’t seen!

Enter Shorts, Features Documentaries, Screenplays and Teleplays!

This is an open genre event: we take all styles and genres of narratives, experimental projects, videos, animation, & more – with a focus quality filmmaking and writing. Early Bird Entry is now open.

We have received amazing feedback regarding our programming and the event itself over the last two years. The goal of the SoCal is to give independent filmmakers and screenwriters the opportunity to have their movies seen by industry insiders, as well as expose their works to a broader audience that doesn’t get to see truly independent film in the theaters. In past years we have shown animated film, documentaries, international films, comedies, horror films, thrillers, and other high-quality films that showcase the worldwide talent of the independent film community.

Five days of:
- official selections;
- award winning movies;
- industry speakers;
- industry workshops
- Q&As with filmmakers

Last year’s workshops were on story design, how to find success on the festival circuit, and a meeting with producers to discuss projects and distribution. This is in addition to the media room where filmmakers and industry insiders get meet and discuss their projects with the festival attendees.
