If a man eats two sweets in two minutes, then as per mathematical rules he is supposed to eat one sweet in one minute. But what if he can gobble up more than one sweet in that one minute? All calculations failed? The idea might sound strange but needs to be thought over. Our educational system has made us machines. We are ready to accept things on the basis of formula and theorems. There seems to be no place for practical approach when it comes to the world of bookish knowledge.
Aa Aawkaare Aaa tries to explore into this existing predicament and offers a solution to the present educational paradox. Mini (Adyasha) is a young motherless child and has many questions to ask. When sent to her grandfather in the village, Mini discovers the joys and mysteries of nature. As contrast to the monotonous world of learning lessons, homework and appearing for exams, Mini learns the simple ways of understanding the world better.
For Mini it is more important that she excels in flying kites, she could manage to catch fish for her grandpa and the fact that she could now climb trees. When the world around her fails to understand her ideas, she has her shadow to speak to.
Incidentally, the little girl has an imaginary teacher—Miss Mini who comes to rescue her and her friends from the clutches of yelling teachers and the burden of classes. The teacher takes the younglings to the fields, makes them aware of the world around them with songs and dances, games replace homework and learning becomes fun.
As the little Mini grows up, she still finds herself struggling with the education system and the entire academic framework, the only difference being she is now herself a teacher. Desperate to free the little prisoners from the shackles of the mechanical education and forced competition, Mini works all alone.
Director Subhas Das has made a sincere effort to address a subject as grim as the faulty education system and has taken a pragmatic stance to it. Just as the title goes, Aa Aaw… asks us to get back to basics and too in a practical fashion.
