A Hangover of Epic Proportions!
A Wild Night out with the boys! It’s just what the doctor ordered when you’ve been having a rough time at work. But what if this boys night out ends up with you lying face down on the floor, A baby in the closet, A tiger in the bathroom and one of your best friends missing just a few hours away from his marriage!
Yesterday, After I’d just landed in Mangalore after 2 successive flights, I wanted to go out and watch a movie to shake off the exhaustion from all the travel. My choices were New York, The Hangover and Terminator: Salvation. New York didn’t sound too appealing, Terminator would be too damn noisy, So pretty much settled for The Hangover and was joined by some of my drinking buddies. And i gotta admit, The experience was pretty awesome.
The Hangover begins in medias res in the middle of the desert with Phil (Bradley Cooper) calling up Doug’s (Justin Bartha) soon to be wife Tracy (A seriously gorgeous Sasha Barrese) to tell her that they fucked up. The movie immediately flashes back to the 4 friends getting ready for a mad Vegas night. Doug is the typical nice guy doing well in life. Phil is married with a son and works as a teacher in an elementary school and is pretty much bored with life. Stu (Ed Helms) is a henpecked dentist constantly harassed by his dominating and cheating girlfriend. Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is Doug’s soon to be brother-in-law and calling him eccentric would be an understatement. So the 4 pack up for a wild night in Vegas ends up being more than they bargained for ;)
Have seen some seriously howlarious buddy movies in the past, some directed by Todd Phillips himself who ain’t a slouch in this genre. With a track record of classics like Road Trip, Old School and Starsky and Hutch in the past, I was expecting a fun ride with this movie and i sure as hell got it.
Bradley Cooper is as cool as ever as the leader of the pack. Justin Bartha has a small role but does well nevertheless. But the scene stealers are Ed Helms who i’ve been a fan of since The Office and Zach Galifianakis who simply rocks the show here. Special mention to be made of the scene where they spoof Rain Man. The girls are pretty much eye candy in the movie though Heather Graham contributes to a few hilarious moments. The supporting cast is equally funny especially Ken Jeong as the effeminate gangster and Mike Tyson in a hilarious cameo.
This movie is for those of us out there who have had some really WILD night for the good memories involved and also for those who haven’t so they know what they’ve missed out on ;)

real fun, refreshing movie in the middle of mega budget hollywood summer crap like T-4,Xmen etc…go for this
Ok,After reading this I just figured,this article of mine’s a little too small :P
The hangover. Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…….
Yup….one of the funniest movies in some time this one…
Hope the makers of the other so-called funny movies take note
Never imagined that a stereo typed story can be so well executed and sleazy jokes can be presented with such wow timings ! Quite a good break after a drought of movies in theater for that multiples strike storm…
One also knowingly avoid the flaws of movie making when it gave u whole hearted laugh during and esp. after the movie even.
Last Night watched it and all over Flashing my status as :
“Last night’s overdose of THE HANGOVER is still giving me THE HANGOVER”
