FOR ADULTS ONLY - S&M

Hi everyone,

Hope this year started well for all of you! Its begun on an interesting note for me, lets see how it culminates.

I’m going to share something I wrote with you today. Something I a wrote a long time ago. It started off as an idea, about two men, one is the man with questions and one is a man with answers and their story ends with a question.

I ended up writing it as a poem, but off late I’m haunted by these two men again and again, I see them trapped in a black desert imprisoned in two cards that have flown off a pack. One card imprisons the man with questions, and visually you see the Dark Man with the ? symbol and the other card you see a man in Blue with the A symbol. Only his A isn’t an ace its an answer.

I don’t know where this idea will lead, but I feel like sharing the poem with all of you

Interrogation

???????????????

He has a lot of questions

Questions to ask

Questions that others are afraid to ask

He sits in a dimly lit room

A room with no windows

Only walls

and a door

SHUT ( from the world )

He is not alone

His companion is tied

tied to a chair

Rivulets of blood flowing gently

gently from his forehead

His left eye is swollen

SHUT ( from the world )

The man with questions to ask

Waits

waits for the phone to ring

For him it signifies

Answers

Answers to his questions

For he is a man not afraid to ask

For his companion it signifies

to keep his mouth

SHUT ( from the world )

There is silence in the room

and

Questions

The Questioner’s mind is full of questions

Questions on how to hurt the man

The man with answers

Should he use a knife and cut

cut the tender skin under the eye

Or put wires through his scrotum

or

???????????????

The man with answers has questions

Questions questioning his endurance

Questions questioning the result of his answers

Questions ???????????????

There is silence in the room

The temperature keeps dropping

The phone is silent

The man dies

???????????????

A door is SHUT

When answerable also is fileld with questions then why ??????? shd die?
when their roles have been united and both have only questions to ask, why one shd die?

    RK,
the question is WHO dies:) since the phone remains silent…….and still one dies………..or were there two people? Or just two sides of the same coin?

    Suparn:
I got impression its discussion of conflicts of one’s inner and outer self and when both have only questions in the end thats why I asked why one would die? if both have answers only then only a union of two in to one, or leaving of one and dying of other can be talked abt.
Perhaps from your side its finished. I feel your poem creates enough room for an abstract story or a long poem. It needs to be stretched further.
Having said that when as a reader I go in to the poem i feel it shd extract out more. But thats a never ending difference between creator and reader:d

Oh this isn’t finished at all:) because it leaves you with questions and doesn’t give an answer, the conflict is like the Gordian knot, it can but cut but not resolved……and the poem is about self and the outer self…..about the relationship between questions and answers is like S&M, the questions are the interrogator and sadistic in nature since questions torment and since the answers don’t come easy they are masochist

    It’s about time you posted!!!

I like where you are going with this. But, want to see more. Is it an existential comment on self, or as your title mentions an exploration of dominant relations. If so, in context of what.

This leaves me with more questions than potential answers (as you wanted), but the types of questions that are fun and interesting over a beer, not necessarily on a quick break while at the office…

So, either buy me a beer, or write more ;)

Ooh, I like this a lot. I want to see more too. .

And does the phone signify the right to ask the question itself or only the right to get an answer? Because I think the right to ask the question is where a lot of fear lies - can you ask yourself the one question that you are most afraid of. Are you only afraid of the answer or is asking the question itself fear?

And once one of them dies - what happens? Does the other life a half-life unable to ask the question or a mad-life unable to answer the question…?

    More, please :)

I love these riddling fascinations of yours with the psyche and all its twists.

I am very interested to see how this turns out…
