….surya who ? Remember those posts on Nishabd…the story of scene no. 55 & 56 ? Yes..yes he is surendra hiwarale..apna zoorya.
As soon as me and KK left office (lower parel), it started raining heavily. Mumbai’s first shower this season. As expected, Vasan ditcher Bala said he cant make it as he is stuck with something more important. Manjeet bhurji-pav Singh was busy making rajma-chawl. We reached goregaon station and took a rick to Film City. Goregaon was dry compared to lower parel. KK had never been to film city before. We were looking for farishta garden and mandir wala road….thats what Surya told us on phone. It was all dark. Started drizzling suddenly. We crossed whistling woods, adlabs office and then stopped to figure out the exact location. A security guard told us left mat lena…sidha jao….we went seedha, crossed yashraj film’s sets of rab ne bana di jodi and then it was all dark again. Saw a guy coming from other side…boss..mandirwala road yeh hai ?…arre nahi…idhar nahi hai mandir wala road…udhar se left jao.

we went back and then took left. The ricksaw was moving like a turtle on an uphill road. I asked KK if he cant get down and push it a bit. As soon as Kk got down, the driver was happy…arre kitna vajan hai uska…ab ricksaw araam se chad raha hai upar. i said haan saand (bull) hai woh to saand !!
KK came back and it was again back to turrtle speed. Dark all around.
Bhaiyya….kahan jayenge…aage poora jungle hain.
Nahi nahi…thoda aur aage chalkar dekhte hain.
We didnt want to call surya for the fourth time to figure out the location as he was busy with the shoot. Suddenly we saw some headlights….ya ya…its surya.
Manjeet called up after sometime…arre log bol rahe hain yahan tendua (leopard) nikalta hai…aage bikul andhera hai…unit me koi bike hai to bhej de.
Manjeet, tu dar raha hai kya ?
Kk – kaun hai ?
Me – Manjeet. Bol raha hai tendua nikalta hai idhar.
KK – kaisa sardar hai woh!!??
Me – Parsi sardar ??!! (…ok sorry manjeet )
I told Manjeet tu aa ja. Tendua tujhe dekhkar khayega nahi….tere badan par kuch hai nahi khane ko. Later on Manjeet found someone who escorted him to the exact location. We were there till late…chai, coffee, khana, peena, small n big films talks n some many more.
Felt great to see surya happy and calling the shots. Here are some working stills from the film…surya in every possible pose ( bada aadmi ho gaya hai ab woh)…ha ha ha…enjoy!!

suchita thats correct its Ramni…he did the camera work for surya’s short 0:00pm…Surya kept his promise of making him his DOP for his first feature!
