Aamir in Rajkumar Hirani’s Next ….

Aamir ended all the speculation and confirmed in his blog, that he will be working in Rajkumar Hirani’s Next….This is what he says…
“yes I am doing Raju Hirani’s film being produced by Vinod Chopra tentatively titled ‘IDIOTS’”
The movie is supposed to be based on Chetan Bhagat’s book called “Five point someone”
The synopsis of the book goes something like this
Five Point Someone is a story about three friends in IIT who are unable to cope.
The book starts with a disclaimer, “This is not a book to teach you how to get into IIT or even how to live in college. In fact, it describes how screwed up things can get if you don’t think straight.”
Three hostelmates – Alok, Hari and Ryan get off to a bad start in IIT – they screw up the first class quiz. And while they try to make amends, things only get worse. It takes them a while to realize: If you try and screw with the IIT system, it comes back to double screw you. Before they know it, they are at the lowest echelons of IIT society. They have a five-point-something GPA out of ten, ranking near the end of their class. This GPA is a tattoo that will remain with them, and come in the way of anything else that matters – their friendship, their future, their love life. While the world expects IITians to conquer the world, these guys are struggling to survive.
Will they make it? Do underperformers have a right to live? Can they show that they are not just a five-point-somebody but a five-point-someone?
This is what Hirani has to say about the movie :
“We have tentatively titled it IDIOT. Without wanting to divulge much at this stage, I’d like to say that it’s a feel-good film. It’s a satire on the education system. It’s a comedy with a social message.”
What do you think, will Rajkumar Hirani be able to create the magic of Munna bhai MMBS or Lage raho … ???
For all those who have read the book must be knowing that the book is based on three mechanical engineering students in IIT and how they almost mess up their lives due to the grading system…..
Can aamir be passed as an IIT student ?????Why do we always have to cast actors in their late 30’s or 40’s as someone in college or just out of college ……Be it Yuva or Dil chahta hai….or Rang de Basanti …all the big guns have falled for this ……

I would doubt the film is based on Five Point Someone. The book is too juvenile a piece of writing to be made into a film.
Aamir quite obviously cannot be passed as a college student.
As Raju himself has pointed out, its going to be a satire on the education system of India. I have a hunch that this will deal with the quota system. The quota system allows the worst of the minds to get into the best of educational system, without any labor.
Aamir Khan as one of the three endearing losers..cannot fathom it at all..:o if they feel that the movie cannot be made without stars maybe they shouldn’t make the movie in the first place.. can only hope that the movie’s not based on Five Point Someone..or that Aamir is playing a new character that is not mentioned in the book..like a prof who doubles up a mentor for the student..
Raj kumar Hirani had mentioned after the release of LRMB that he was considering making a movie based on the education system in India.
This book will have to be tweaked a lot, and Hirani and his team are capable of scripting a likeable movie.
I’m sure Aamir will offer his ‘creative’ inputs too;)
Given the two ego’s involved – Vinod Chopra and Aamir Khan – is this ever likely to take off!?
hey,
never doubt Aamir’s calibre. he is the only actor today who can pull off anything, be it a college student (RDB) or a female dance number (Baazi). But I agree w/ Arun that Raju is probably not copying the book. I think his script is different, though based on edu system.

i hope it works!
i want to see it whn aamir asks for change in script! maaajaa ayega!
it’s good that raju hirani is tkng break from munnabhai stuff!
This is the worst news I have heard in recent times.
Shit! said too soon.
This is definitely worse.
@9 Yes, my thoughts exactly. And I cannot wait to see Aamir in yet another 20 something role. WTF? Do we have no young actors and no roles that can utilize out aging talent?
Neeraja…why is this the worst news in recent times
:)
Aamir Khan as college student? :P
Maybe they’re making a sequel to Jaani Dushman.
Five Point Some Nag…
@Anand
Which one?
Aamir wali news because first of all, I didn’t like the book. It’s the kind of book one would read when one has been forced to go to a duur ka relative’s wedding (or funeral) and has nothing to do :P
Secondly, I do not see Aamir fitting into any character of this book.
Worst fear: what if it becomes another sex comedy?
and Maniratnam wali news because isn’t it sad when a (good)director decides the actors first and then the story? Don’t know if that’s the case here but it appears so.
“It
Idiot is obviously not based on Five point Someone, considering Shahrukh was considered as the lead first and he would DEFINITELY not pass off as a college student (and neither would Aamir, now so as to speak,) Shahrukh even said that it is an original script in one of his interviews.
:(( “Well i do not understand, if you guys are intelligent enough to understand this, as per Aamir doin a college guy, will be anothere awesome role…
its a work of an actor to perform a role which is not him, and no one does it better than Aamir…
Aamir will rock again…
Heard he is working out and back in shape…
he can even do darsheel’s role (TZP)…
Aamir simply rocks….
he can even do darsheel
