god!..100 days post chak de..just got a phone call from a radio thing ..madam, ek link chahiye for new years..toh please..bolein ki aap bindia naik, chak de se blaa ———. i was just not in sync! went on saying mera naam shilpa shukla hai, shilpa shukla ,shilpa shukla shilpa !!and a very very happy new year. its hilarious, i remember a call from ahemdabad..”madam, how much do you charge for a garba nite”…..i could nt stop laughing..just imagined a situation in my head, farhan akhtar sitting in business class,thinkhing of casting me, opens ahemdabad times “chak de girls-now on garba grounds”!!dismiss! at the goal premiere, reporter walking towards us..”ek baar camera mein boliye “dan dana dan (once again)dan dana dan chak de”!! ok……i understand when they want us for giving a pep talk, or a shoot for premiere hockey league, or they want us to watch chak de with corporate teams…but sometimes they just miss the point!….and i become relunctant of visiting ppl. oh! not to be missed..got a call from some zip pouch co. they want to know if (a celeb like bindia) carries it for make up!..k….cell phone..k…chopped vegetables..ya, that sounds ok.!so….stupid me, still fixated with the idea that actors do this and not that. .
ok, wht we read was written long back, and hope the year is happy happy!!. .thats me..happily writing, forgetting to give the publish command..(irrelevant, but did nt feel like deleting it)…taking a week to figure out where to write a post!!..apologies for disappearing(not that u missed me!) …i read the replies almost..every 2nd day, looking out for a new comment..replied to each one, .in my head n heart!!..thats me, again..but today read all of it…thank you so….much! you just saved me from diving into a pool of tears that i love to swim into every 10 days!…thank you…
so…whats up with …me???…was in delhi last week..a week in delhi, my delhi..12years of my life, my parents and friends..wanted to see me getting the star dust with them on the 17th…suddenly, something snapped..i wanted to come back, to mumbai..this is not normal, for me…and i was back in the city, 1:30 in the night..back to the city.. that they say does not belong to us , for whatever technical, stupid reasons..outsiders?…i really dont know if it really had an impact on us….but it was just too sudden and unfair and wrong for the auto guy who drove me home from the airport, and many more like him….
…so..i saw myself holding the 1st award of my life..it says” the new menace”!….on 12th mornin, somebody called me to congratulate…this was for my 1st nomination for filmfare, what?.. sorry friends….can’t hide the excitement!… i was never, am still not an award-freak actor….but, its a dream that we see… each time we saw a tabu, or hilary swank..or jamie foxx, holding that gold figure, desi ya pardesi…a thank you number..u think u have learnt by heart!..will it be a scream of excitement, or a potent pause, or sudden outburst of tears, or nervousness and sweaty palms…magical!…1st time..of everything is perhaps the purest..stays the longest…
life is rolling.. i got my 1st folio shot..i waited for 4 long years, visualising it…actually, waiting for the money to afford it!…so, the clock, still ticking..but i have stopped looking at the seconds and minutues, calender works best for an actor, i guess!..something within me tells me that something really major and beautiful is going to happen to me, again…a role, which is meant just for me!..something which is irreplaceable!..like us…did i hear “she is back!!!”..

Well deserved nomination – you were really good in Chak de! Loved the jaded attitude.
Yaa totally agree – A deserved nomination. Though being on backstage of one of the flimfare (as a false event coordinator – LOL) the whole flimfare is a shitty makeup of an awards.
Hope you get more well scripted roles as you have proved you can carry the weight of meaty roles!

Shilpa its amazing to see you improve so much as an actor. I have watched you in your many previous films but I must say that Chak De is definitely your best performance so far. It has brought you in the limelight and im sure opened up the door for many future and better roles. Looking forward to watching you tap many other different roles. All the best and you were amazing as Bindiya but you are even better as Shilpa ;)

i think you are a great actor but you havent gotten used to the fact that you are a part of Bollywood ..
Its an entertainment industry, they expect u to entertain irrespective of the situation, time & place.
In India a Great Actor is a Good entertainer…
India is a country where SRK sells & not Method Acting..
Hence get used to it.. . or fly under the radar.

i think u r an enormously talented actress.i have seen u in hka, khamosh pani and chak de and loved u in all of them.u look like a complete natural and effortless actor.but why haven’t u done any movie post chak de.your turn on jhalak is interestinga nd should give u necessary publicity and exposure.of course all the best and may u win. just my personal take but i feel u will do much better in meaningful movies than in typical commercial ones.of course one should be versatile and open to all kind of roles .so what are ur next movie releases.wishing u a great future ahead.take care.

One thing that really touched my soul was your blatant honesty when you talk about how you actually waited for four long years before getting your first folio shot.It reflects the trauma of any middle class ambitious girl who has the dreams but nobody offers her the wings to soar high.
Being the father of model(who began her career when she was just 15 plus)I can understand what it means to miss an audition feeling if only you could have had the bus fare your luch may have shone and that silent pain lingers for a long while.
Now that you’ve made it far beyond most ordinary girls don’t let success ever corrupt your honesty.You cannot remain innocent all your life but atleast you can try and remain honest(atleast to your ownself).
