All About Us

How the movement started?

PFC was started when we started losing count of the number of readers on our own blogs, who were equally passionate about cinema. From software engineers to office accountants, from Australia to India to Netherlands to the U.S., they all were bound together by one common passion, that one common thing that excited them sky high… cinema.

PFC is a passionate attempt to bring together all movie fanatics, cine lovers and those who eat, breathe and drink cinema. You could discuss an event, a cine personality, review a movie, publish a scoop or a highly opinionated view or perhaps you would like to share your knowledge about the medium… it’s all here at one place… passionforcinema… Enjoy and spread the good word! What’s our mission?

The first objective is to keep it “Open Source”… a term commonly used in the Software community. An author on PFC rightly encompassed my vision of Open Source by sending me once a snap shot of Open Source she found on the web, as follows:

1. Whoever comes are the right people
2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could happen
3. Whenever it starts it is the right time
4. When it’s over… it is over

And that’s right on the mark of what PFC is structured to be. Keeping it simple and straight forward.
The entire idea behind PFC was to share the passion - views, thoughts, reactions on World cinema, without any barriers, without any boundaries.

But the chain reaction is something we never envisioned…

People started noticing. We ended up with the first of its kind MovieBlogging - blogging right off the movie sets. Commenters and Authors started getting noticed by people from the movie industries. PFC has become instrumental in providing work in the movie business to more than a few dozen highly talented people who write on PFC as authors or commenters. It has grown beyond simply being a medium to share and interact. It has grown to become a highly powerful networking tool. Producers, Directors, Writers established in the movie industry now come on PFC to interact directly with the next generation of highly creative people. We are now being called in to present movies… If any of our authors love a movie big or small, then we present them wherever possible. Missed Call was presented by us at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles while Confessions of a Filmmaker we are presenting on the internet.

What new avenues will we touch? Who knows. The focus hence for us is to keep PFC the open platform it is. Nothing more. Nothing Less. [back to top]

How PFC Works?

There is a lot of time spent at the back end to see that PFC runs smoothly. To submit articles, one has to be either an author on PFC or send their articles through Projekt iView. Besides there are tons of comments that are poured on to PFC’s pages by movie fans the world over. To see that the pages are clean and not hijacked by spam, web-bullying, personal attacks and unwarrented advertisements - we have a few volunteers who act as editors on PFC. These editors purely do it for he passion, taking time off their regular day jobs to help PFC be clean and kicking forward.

Besides there’s always oz, who you can expect to be checking all the techie things that go into running PFC at the back, and the articles and comments in the front. We think he hasn’t slept ever since PFC took birth. [back to top]
