In dilemma. Want to watch this one because of Raj Kumar Santoshi but discouraged by the presence of Katrina Kaif.
movie is really full tp..i njoyd it!!!!
ITSSSSSSSSS GR88888888888888888888888!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course but I was thinking that should I watch it in theatres or wait for a month or two. I think I’ll be watching it this weekend. Kisi tarah jhelna padega Kat ko. people like Kat but not me but as they say Needs of many outweigh the need of one.
it will anyday be better than Pyare Mohan man… i still remember I saw this movie in a hall … Fardeen Khan, OTT Vivek Oberoi, lost Amrita Rao and Esha Deol
…………
No movie.. apart from one tamil flick called Manmathan… ever made me feel so cheated … katina kaif toh is still at least good to ogle at…
Going by your logic PS,Manmadhan had Jyotika,Mandira Bedi,Yana Gupta,Sindhu Tolani,Brinda Parekh etc to ogle at
@ sethu …. how else do you think I survived Manmathan???
totally agree…I also got Manmadhan from a hostelmate and watched in the “right” frame of mind…
True Jahanpanah
I too don’t like Kat that much. She can’t act but donno why all her movies are a big HIT eg. “Singh is King” movie, Welcome, etc.
Regards
Saw it.. Theres nothing Ajab or Gazab about this one…
Has loads of hilarious moments, Ranbir has wonderful timing… and some overdo of slapstick towards the end resembles a 80’s, 90’s Priyadarshan malayalam flick …
Now, for those who donot see any other language Indian films apart from Hindi, this might be a real good watch…
The basic plot is flicked off a Telugu/Tamil film called ‘Shahjahan’ which was a romance-drama… Rajkumar Santoshi flipped it in to a eminently watchable romatic comedy….
A good watch for ‘Hindi only’ audience….those who watch other South films might find it a bit repetitive, except for Ranbir, who is extemely good…
Thnx Ram. Relieved now, already had purchased tickets for night show..
You can always count on Santoshi that his movie is not going to be a complete disaster.
Rajkumar’s duds- family (remember with Big B ), Lajja (shockingly over the top)!
But, they were also not complete disaster. May be for you but not for majority.
Have not seen the movie, but from what i hear, its off to a good start, and am glad for Santoshi, one director who could rescue us from the Blues, Lucks, Kidnaps we have to endure in the name of entertainment.
mazingly, london dreams was also a RKS project… if Ajab…goes on to be a bigger hit,our man would gulp a pretty satisfying sip of scotch on the rocks…
Good movie with lot if hilarious moments..Unlike Andaaz apna apna, few scenes looks artificial. still Hats off to Ranbir Kapoor…Clean and fulltus comedy…
Jahanpanah, Go for it…
Was disappointed big time from one of my favourite bollywood directors, Raj Kumar Santoshi
I loved it. a clean fun-filled entertainer after a long time, a much needed respite from the Priyadarshan / DD / Rihit Shetty type of stupid comedies.
.
i was watching a 11pm show sitting in the front row of a multiplex, craning my neck so hard, it hurt. but i endured it just coz it was so howlarious…!
.
touches of AAA, not that good, but definitely a DVD colelctors’ item in the long run.
.
KK is good, for a change…! and sallu never looked so “endearing”
I was eagerly awaiting this movie, had skipped lots of movies last month to see this one. and i wasn’t let down. keep in mind, this is not AAA, but is still a laugh riot. the first half flies by in a jiffy. thanks to the songs (which are brilliant by the way) which provided some respite from the laughs, otherwise i was afraid my neck would explode from all the laughing. it gets a bit slow for around half an hour after the interval, but gets back on track till it reaches the climax, which is childish and a big nod to AAA and Priyadarshan’s movies, but somehow still works. i am going back for this one. a must watch for comedy lovers.
Ranbir makes all the madness work.
THe scene where he keeps on continuously dancing is hilarious!
The transitions from comedy to senti, were very jarring and irritating.
Songs worked only bcoz they were popular, and the public didn’t mind any song, which everytime struck out of the blue.
His continuous dancing reminded me of Austin Powers movies.
@jahanpanah, bro, wat abt halla bol! if that does not come under the disaster category, what does, the courtroom scenes were a massacare on the public’s wisdom.
Well, the performance of Pankaj Kapur was enough to call it from being total failure. Moreover, I did like how it started till the first half but later it went downhill and ended abruptly. Also, liking disliking depends upon person to person, I made that statement considering majority say 80% of the people. As we see here as well that there are people giving 1 star to the this movie, for them it is disaster but most of the people have liked it.
As Jahanpanah put it, it depends on person to person… to me the way the climax is shot, with AD getting bashed up while the public remains silent was blood rousing stuff… and then the pankaj kapoor’s scene of ’sab chuppp’ these 2 alone raises halla bol to a very high levels for me…
A Ranbir show all the way.Quite a light hearted movie.gets silly and cheesy at times but in the end its certainly a time pass movie. As Ram mentioned for those who watch South Indian cinema the theme would be very very familiar but what helps is the treatment by RKS.Those expecting an encore of Andaz Apna Apna would be disappointed.Just go expecting a fun filled light movie.Ranbir- now awaiting your next- Rocket Singh- Salesman of the Year!!!
A loose film by RKS and no where close to AAA but still a good one. APKGK has its some very good moments, good funny scenes with good music and best part is Ranbir Kapoor, this man is proving himself film by film but is quite similar in both WIS and APKGK and hoping for his different side in Rocket Singh…
decent flick …wanted to give it 3.5 … the movie is a lil slow in the beginning, but after that, as everybody has put it, its a Ranbir show… it becomes a ride…Katrina, gives pretty good expressions when she is supposed to be surprised or amazed, since its a comedy movie with certain levels of exaggerations, her expression works in places in this movie…
overall somewhere during the movie was reminded of quite a few other movies… Kabhi haan kabhi naa in one scene… but for a singificant part the movie reminded me of RGV’s mast… and how performances can raise a movie was proven off… with Ranbir doing what Aftab did in Mast, this one was so much better…
Saw london dreams as well, and boss RKS is better than Vipul Shah… script or no script…
First movie in which I actually liked Katrina.. and that’s saying a lot.. Ranbir was a complete blast.. And Santoshi is back in form after few duds.. Some scenes reminded me of Andaz Apna Apna, specially the climax.. but overall totally time-pass movie..
I found the movie funny in parts but overall it was a bore. The songs were good but not placed right. Ranbir was good, though I didn’t find him exceptional like all the critics are saying. Emotional scenes are his weak point. Katrina was okay. For me the best thing in the movie was Darshan Jariwala – he was the only genuinely funny characater.
Its romantic comedy told in a fairy-tale way. Average movie with some good comedy scenes here n there. Good thing is that comedy is without vulgarity, you can go with families. On the other hand, do not go with high expectations and analytical mind. Light entertainment.
I too wanted to give it somewhere between 3-4, but it doesn’t warrant 4 for sure. Ranbir Kapoor is the next big thing in Bollywood. Hope he doesn’t take the SRK route and try to be versatile. He has such a great screen presence. Songs doesn’t help the movie. Tried to make it dramatic in the second half and it reduces the overall fun quotient. I felt its unnecessary.
superb movie!!!!!
undoubtly a 5 star movie…
no complaint, no demand, ajab, ghazab sooper sunday sinima.
Good entertainment, time pass. A relief after the assault from the KI’s, Blue’s and Hadippa’s.
Ranbir Kapoor, seems to be settling well into the carefree, casual kinda roles, just hope he does not end up in a slot. Awaiting Rocket Singh. Kat did well for a change.
But why Upen Patel, as the 3rd angle, Arrrrrggh.
I must say it’s very refreshing to see such a juvenile and worthless film get such appreciation from PFC regulars without being attacked.
To Ratnakar, for me “good entertainment” was Hadippa. I almost gag at your arrogance. Your taste in “cinema” leaves me cold as I’m sure mine does to you!
Honestly Alysha, I care a Damn what you think about my Taste, Nor Do i give a Damn about ur Taste.
Well of course you don’t care!!!!! That stance is the last resort for a person without an argument to put forward. Guess you’re not as discerning as you make out. You like a film so it MUST be good. You HATE a film, so it has to be bad. You who are the purveyor of all that is “good” cinema
Or was it the lissome Katrina who managed to persuade you as to it’s entertainment value
Although I comment to you, it applies to the many.
Gosh Alysha, u sure have a lot of time, analyzing people based on Movie tastes, Eh, good look for ur Study.
BTW Alysha, this is my first post on PFC, read it if u can.
http://passionforcinema.com/confessions-of-a-movie-maniac/
And u still wanna keep debating my “Discerning” Skills or whatever the fuck that means, u could be talking to a Blank Wall for all i care.
Its sad to see that in our part of the world, majority of the audiences still get carried away the star presense of a film, rather than rating it as per its content.
Still I am happy if this movie is working out well cause its coming from one of my favourite directors….But in real terms it is far below his own set standards.
I don’t see what your first post has to do with anything. I’m happy that people have liked films like Wanted, All the best,WUS, APKGK etc. When so many have liked those, why complain about the rest. There’s not much difference in quality in my opinion.
By the way, you shouldn’t get so rattled, it’s not good for your blood pressure especially after having had enough to cope with in the form of KK so recently. Hope your mood “lifts”. Another visit to the cinema for APKGK is recommended
Rattled????
I have better things to do in life, than getting Angtsy over Comments made by some one on a Blog. Alysha, u sure can Spam to ur heart’s content, Won’t make any difference to my BP. I am a thick skinned asshole of the first order, CIAO.
come on Alysha… what is ur reply….plz dont stop this child play
Very average. Tolerable only because of a few Ranbir specific interludes and the soliloquay in the balcony of Happy Club. Katrina cannot act. Proven through close ups this time. Bad supporting cast except Darshan. Resort to trick photography unnecessary. Very tedious in 2nd half.
Good movie. Ranbir is brilliant. Katrina looks gorgeous. Tu Jaane Na song is breathtaking.
3.5/5 actually but tending towards 3. 3.25 would be much suitable if it counts.
This movie was nothing sort of fresh. We have seen these things in many other movies but what makes it work is the comedy element. The comic timing of Ranbir is perfect. comedy track improves the scenes and they don’t look jaded but sometimes it comes out as illogical. Overall a fun filled movie.
one of the most entertaining films in recent times
Badhiya movie hain….Santoshi knows how to make comedy.
I want my money back.
Absolute Trash – Had to walk off at interval, and I know some of my friends did too. Ranbir is the only saving grace, and couple of good songs, but avoid wasting your time and effort !!! STAY AWAY
Not even close to Andaz Apna Apna but then that was always going to be a difficult ask. Watch it for Ranbir & some genuinely funny moments.
Solid return to form by Santoshi Ji. Majaa aa gaya. after a long time a masala entertainer that really entertains, in good old style.
