Hi All,
I wish the ‘Aladdin’ team. ALL THE VERY BEST…
movie has great potential to do good business on BO
Absolutely Sujoy. Its a big film. On friday and saturday am watching Aladin and London Dreams. Depends on reviews, which movie I catch first. Good luck.
Disappointing trailer and very pedestrian soundtrack. Have great expectations from Sujoy, really hope this is a good movie and not another Drona…
Rajeev Masand has given a positive thumbs up to Aladin over London Dreams…should be good…am catching it tomorrow
First 5-star review for aladin from american press http://twitchfilm.net/reviews/2009/10/saiff-09-aladin-review.php
just came from watching Aladin…and I’m disappointed…it’s not bad in it’s current form…but it could have been so much more…
I’m disappointed as well. The casting of AB,Sanjay Dutt and Riteish was spot on and a modern take on Aladin’s tale was welcome. But it certainly could have been so much better.Hardly any moments that keep you hooked to the seats.
Not bad, but not too great either. I agree with Sethu that the casting was excellent. The film’s let down by unnecessary songs and CGI, but it’s a definitely worth one watch. Has some very funny parts. Familywalas can unreservedly take their kids for it
Aladin…Could have been better but its good as it is. Some more imagination could have helped… heavily inspired from harry Potter though.
Good, enjoyable and light timepass flick. Some cool effects and CGI. The casting has to be good when Ratna Pathak Shah and Mita Vashist are playing the supporting characters.
Waste of wonderfull starcast…disappointed a lot… There was no content in the movie…
Light , good & clean time pass flick with very cool sfx , iliked it!
Just soooo much fun and as a friend said India gets its first fairytale:)The kids in the audience couldnt stop laughing and I must admit I was too.Hope you guys like it as much as I did.
The ending suggests that somebody wants to develop it as a superhero franchise.
so i was very muck kicked about this movie…took my 3 friends…and among those..2 friends i promised if they were not liking the pic i will pay 50% of ticket…..and to my badluck….movie was so bad that they didn’t even ask for return….i myself went ahead and gave it…:(….expected quite alot from SUJOY…i loved his home delivery too….but this one was one blooper….
Movie making is about execution. You can have all the nice scripts in the world, the best actors, the best effects, the best audience and yet everything does not amount to a penny if the director can’t use these things to execute something properly on the screen.
I went into the hall with a lot of expectations and came out with my head spinning. How can someone make such a bad movie with so much resources at his disposal ?
Sheer waste of time….avoid this one….makes a mockery of the fantasy genre….I will have to watch the real Aladin again to get over this one.
Just one star for this film and that’s for the special effects.
all in all it is a good entertaining movie. great peformance by mr.amitabh bachchan. different movie for indian cinema.
Some things which really went for this movie :
a. AB’s “Yo” lines — a genie with an attempt to sound Afro-American !!Wow !!
b. Sanju’s silent mistress was a nice idea
c. The naming of the characters — loved them !!
d. The genie about to near retirement and pining for it (though later it turns out he is a do-gooder which spoils the fun)
Anyway, it seemed to me that Sujoy had a king and a queen and he was missing the rest of the pieces — but he wanted to arrange the board anyway, so he used vegetables instead of the actual pieces (couldn’t help making this analogy, just came out of watching “Shatranj ke Khiladi” )
Make a wish that you dont get tickets to this one. Now that would need a Genius genie to pull off!
almost everything was soooo perfect. the stars, the characters, the vfx.., i just wish sujoy had a better story :( avoid
I still don’t get why people rate this movie so poorly, when its not.
Cons – It has too many songs and most of them can be avoided. And the love angle should have been given less weightage.
The movie is supposed to cater to age groups 6-60? then why make it so complex with crater, shadow and all such things. Did Sujoy lose the plot?
Pros – Its a clean entertainment, no double meaning dialogues or exposing or any such shit. Excellent acting by Amitabh. One can watch it for his energy. Riteish and Sanjay fit the role well.
VFX were excellent for indian cinema.
Very good fun!!
There are some super hilarious moments!!
Songs are pretty groovy!!
Casting was bang on!!
SUjoy,
I’ll be looking forward for your next movie, coz IMO u have delivered a hat trick!!!
why expect? just watch it as it unfolds… agreed the movie could have been better… agreed that at time AB needs a director as much as Shahid kapoor needs a choreographer.. to tell them that their pace in their area of strength is leaving all others so much behind that it starts looking odd, agreed that the love story track could have developed better or the father son kind of relationship between ritesh and ab could ve been developed or at least te hero villian fight could ve been developed at least one of the 3, but still thats okay …. and anyways I love fantasy tales … and this one is definately likable flick… and if there is any trend that I think I feel is gonna happen… hmm Sujoy Ghosh is one more flop away from making it big as a director… in the last 3 movies, he has possibly touched all aspects of what an audience is looking at a film with …one more flop and the next one is going to be a bang hit!!!
Disappointed. AB… take a break.
