All in the name

While I was watching this one, I knew what my first post would be. It would have to Bheja Fry. I had read Anurag’s post on PFC earlier in the day so kinda had an idea of what I was expecting. But I didn’t dare to tell it to my friends; since signing up John Abraham means he has LOST it.

French rip or no-French rip, I think it was a complete laugh riot and I was glued to the seat throughout. I remember Rajat k mentioning about its French connection in some interview of his though I don’t recall any mentions of the same in the credits. So, I honestly wouldn’t know of that angle.

Somehow Vinay Pathak always gets the best Dialogues, wherever he is. It amazes me. It was the same film where Milind Soman had the worst lines. Rajat K was just himself (I am sure he is capable of much more) and I must say Ranveer Shorey was badly used. It was through and through Vinay Pathak’s mere presence on the screen that carried the film. There wasn’t a moment of slack where I could sit back and take notice of anything else (except for that Rajat’s back was hurt on the left and then he kinda according to his convenience switched between the sides). Sarika as a neurotic wife was quite evasive in the first half. She gave you enough time to confuse you as a character but then since it wasn’t about her (though it was), you stopped noticing her. THANKS to Vinay Pathak for a lot of other things. But another character that still stood out was Bhairavi Goswami’s. Ha ha ha. I wondered if she was acting (she looked quite a Tharki). She was hilarious. Milind Soman is forgiven for Valley of Flowers and i wanted more of ranvir shorey for reasons very personal.

All in all, it was a Bheja Fry, that it was meant to be, and if you expect otherwise you shall be thoroughly disappointed as a lot of others (though they all laughed). I also remember five of them walk out just after the interval. The only other person in my vicinity who couldn’t help laughing was koel purie whom I could hear distinctly. I was happy to have company other than the one next to me, who I am sure, wanted to shove his Nikes in my mouth everytime I cracked up, and trust me that was very often- like in every scene. If the goti man in the orange kurta is reading me I can only say it was genuine and I wasn’t making fun of you just because you were constipated. I am sorry, i wasn’t enjoying at your cost. i did like the film.

The most intelligent thing the makers did was to call it Bheja Fry. You really can’t blame them.

Saw the movie just this morning. Had almost the same reactions as you did. Did Milind Soman have any lines, i think all he was told to do is laugh. But he laughed well though. I couldn’t handle the Goswami lady though.

Exactly my thought, Phoenixnu. I wouldn’t wait for the DVD because this is the kind of comedy that needs to be encouraged - intentional.

bheja fry was good. but ranvir was disappointing. i think he was trying to be ‘difficult’. or maybe the director was finding it hard to control him
