And… it’s Ver. 4.0 – Vijay Anand
oz | Qwiki | July 12, 2009 at 7:03 pm
The fourth version of PFC, and instead of calling it 4.0 4.1 4.211fcukups and all that… we’ll be dedicating each version to someone who’s movies we love… so to begin with…
This is PFC-Vijay Anand, from Jewel Thief to Johnny Mera Naam, or Teesri Manzil to Guide… Saluting the genius of Vijay Anand… Here’s PFC 4.0 ahem… err… PFC – VijayAnand rolling out for you…
ps. many things still being tested and developed. So please be patient if you are missing some of the features that you are used to here. We know this design may break in IE 6.0, so explorer users on 6.0, our apologies… and PLEASE UPGRADE TO 8.0 quickly

What are the odds!!!! I revived my blog and changed to WordPress with a whole new look on the same day PFC did. Wow we’re soul mates ;-)
I can see and appreciate all the hard work you’re putting into this redesign. It’s no small effort!
LOL, my gravatar monster is extra-scary.
Cool change ! Very contemporary look. Thanks for putting the efforts.
Good to see the ‘faces’ behind the IDs :P
Cheers!
great new looks. i just came back to India after 10 days, was absolutely out of touch with humanity. PFC has changed for better, and Vijay Anand rocks, so another reason to celebrate.
The contact email doesn’t seem to be working. I have sent an email to the editors requesting to put all my earlier 6 posts under my ID, but did not get any response. There must be some way to do it.
Please help.
its only done for level 2 authors… when did you send the email?
30 June 2009 to the editor’s gmail.

Wow…totally cool. Great effort. Will take sometime to get used to though..
The Version dedications is cool…:)…tx oz n team for the efforts put in….great work…
The site looks great. Excellent step in the right direction – more space, less garish colors, highlight of articles. It’s all good. Congratulations-very nice job.
Wanted to give a special thank you to Ram V, Sourav B, OM, and Arthi V for their help in testing the site and making sure it looks and runs just right. (*bowing*)
Also to Arun, Hansal, V.P. Jaiganesh, Ravptor, WB, Vijay, and anyone else I may have missed for their feedback and assistance.
You guys rock!
(*clapping*)
Awesome is hardly the word to describe the new avatar of PFC main, but I’ll go with it for now for lack of something better.Great work done by all concerned.Cheers!!!
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank Gawwwwwwwd!!!!!!
It is better than the previous version!
:-)
Keep up the good work!
YES. Vijay Anand was one of the genuises along with Nasir hussain. The genres that he chose were different and he excelled in each. Teesri Manzil must be a movie which would be considered a bible for Abbas Mustan, while Guide would be to art house movie makers. Jewel Thief was a masala entertainer. Again as I said, he excelled in all genres, even when there were no benchmarks available. He created those benchmarks.
Yes. Yesterday only I spoke the same words to my father while watching Yaadon Ki Baarat that I can watch a Vijay Anand or a Nasir Hussain movie any given day. Somehow they remain fresh no matter how many times you watch them. A perfect blend of masala in them all.
A lot of late ’60s-early ’70s show this influence of hippie culture in them. That makes me think that probably it’s the lack of a major social-cultural movement that today’s movies do not have a uniqueness of their era. May be ten years later, we will find something unique about films of the 2000’s. But right now I hardly find any or social cause taken from or casual pop culture reference to present day at all.
A very special mention to oz..who spent countless hours without sleep(40 continuous that i know of)..this man is mad..real mad…and we enjoy it..
thanks oz bhai..fantastic work!!
Lovely 1 Oz, and great work from ur end, like this interface much more than the earlier one.
Oz…PFC…ZINDABAD!
love this new avataar of PFC Oz.
Nice one…..now this one looks like a professional movie site….
Fantastic new layout! Separating the reviews and articles and exclusives is exactly what was needed. Great job, Oz!
Oz..Excellent…it was unmatched enthusiasm from your side..which ensured that this was up and running…and wow..it looks beautiful..Pop open a champaigne bottle…..
the nes design is looking great
sahi sahi
oops typo

The new template is cool, readable and eye friendly.
I am a little lost in here. New home, new surroundings :-( This is defintely more classy but I was more at home in the former. Oh well, change means progress!!! Meanwhile, let me explore the new house!
This is too good!!! Kudos to oz bhai and all the others who worked hard to get this great new look
It is as stylish as a Vijay Anand movie. Truly cool !! Great work OZ and team
brilliant PFC-Vijay Anand is awesome
. thanks for all your hard work in putting this together. this site was always a delight and a fave, but this design is even better and userfriendly that before. gr8 job, guys at PFC.
Badhiya hai, PFC, badhiya hai!
Like this new look even more every time I log in…would not have been possible without oz’s junoon.
Awesome work OZ !!!! The new layout is JHAKAAS !!
In the recent comments section, only comments are seen, not the post on which it was made (which was there in the earlier version). Can that change be made?
Cherish..with the current design product, it is not possible, but, PFC is always working towards a better tomorrow. We will keep this in mind and try to work out that solution. Thanks for the feedback
I have one more suggestion. Comments for a post if it exceeds 25, it just shows older comments click box. And if I want to start from the first, i need to click on the older comments box again and again. Instead why not create the page list of the number of comments so that it is easy to navigate?
nice template…much cooler with the pics n all…
woooohoooo!!!! pfc get s a redesign!!! much needed!! ..k now let me see how this works …
wow now u can reply to a particular comment. great!
what i am absolutely sure about is that the logo HAS to change. pfs’s first logo ever was great. well anything but this.
And Quiki my fav section. looks like its merged with other articles. i mean will the quikies appear in the ‘latest posts’ & ‘recent articles’ ? lets see. can be accessed from sections drop down though, checked that.
Kalki any suggestiong for a new logo? If you have anythig in mind or know someone who can do create a design voluntarily please let us know :-)
om i think the sandeep dude who submitted poster designs for no smoking contest can do the job. you could ping him n see if he;s interested
also in the short time that i have been navigating around this new design, i dont see a link to the next article like earlier…that was a very convenient feature
The new PFC – VA feels like one of those Malyalam movies remade in Hindi , core promise of simplicity in grand setting of Hindi Cinema. I liked the simplicty and open feel of last PFC
Hey OM….
suggestion 1:
Comments for a post if it exceeds 25, it just shows older comments click box. And if I want to start from the first, i need to click on the older comments box again and again. Instead why not create the page list of the number of comments so that it is easy to navigate?
suggestion 2:
When we reply to a reply that should come in the latest comments i.e. the last (not near the old reply comment) else if somebody replies to an earlier comment nobody will know of it.
@Cherish..thanks for the input. As for sugegstion 1. it was intended, as otherwise, the numbe rof comments keep running and the length of page going..kaboom!!!
Sugegstion 2. isnt it better that you get a reply to your particular comment?
OM…thanks for the reply.
I wasn’t that clear in my comments.
Point 1: Number of comments should be restricted to 25 per page only ( I don’t want all the comments in the same page). To view the older comments, you have provided a button which will go to previous 25 and so on.
But say if the number of comments are 200, and so i am in 8th page. If i have to go to first page of comments, I need to press the older comments button 7 times (else on the hmtl path page I can change from 8 to 1 directly, but not many know this). If you can provide a direct link of each page near to older comments, it would make life easier. Hope am clear on this
Point 2: You have replied to my comment. But my comment is in the latest page of comments, so I could see that you have replied to my comment. Lets say you have replied to the first commenter, and it is not visible in the current page, as the comments have exceeded 25. How will the person know, you have replied to him? I like something similar to gmail. If I sent you a mail 10 days back, and if you reply today, my mail box shows your mail as the first one in the inbox, since your reply time is latest (it doesn’t use the 10 days back time). Hope its clear.
What’s with the $1001 points, $1000 points ( next to the heading of the post )…so on and so forth??
Ashu..something on a test mode..you will know about it soon..but rest assured..it will something, really good!!
Ok OM, if you say so!! Waiting…. How about a page of biography/ filmography of all directors?? That would be interesting. Also, have some contests…anything that involves the viewers. That should be fun and engaging ( not that the site isn’t engaging enough )
Sab ka Band Bajega…Jaldi!!
I don’t believe it – everyone actually likes the new design.
)..but maybe these are early days..maybe I had got used to earlier one a lot..
I for one don’t like it much (putting it politely
At first, it does seem that the earlier design had a lot of content – in this one, I am a little Lost.
But speaking of a design change, whats with everyone suddenly? Along with PFC, rediff and timesoftindia.com have changed it too… and I feel more are on the way. Is it a ’shubh ghari’ to change it? Change is always for the better – but not everyone does it together!
I know people must have worked their ass off on this – hate to give an adverse opinion, but PFC’s first look impression now is a lot like so many other sites – the new design is just more mod n posh, everything is jazzed up to scream for attention; the older look was more orderly, practical, sincere, honest, innocent…….am sorely missing it! I’m sure there have been many improvements in other areas, but the look……Hope everyone’s been entirely honest in their opinions.
OM…thanks for the reply.
Putting in the new comment, so that you don’t miss it :-)
I wasn’t that clear in my earlier comments.
Point 1: Number of comments should be restricted to 25 per page only ( I don’t want all the comments in the same page). To view the older comments, you have provided a button which will go to previous 25 and so on.
But say if the number of comments are 200, and so i am in 8th page. If you can provide a direct link of each page near to older comments, i.e. in this case, a link of page 1, 2, 3..7 near to old comments would make life easier. Hope am clear on this
Point 2: I like something similar to gmail. If I sent you a mail 10 days back, and if you reply today, my mail box shows your mail as the first one in the inbox, since your reply time is latest (it doesn’t use the 10 days back time). Similarly if a person is replying to earlier comment, I want that comment to come as the latest along with older comment, not like in the current version where it comes near to the older comment. Hope its clear.
Inn sab ke liye rokda and personnel maangtha hain mere bhai..mushkil hain dono bina..
Make a new logo with PFC written on film reels.
OM,
I have raised this point earlier too. But am putting it again as its become little difficult to follow the comments section.
Number of comments for a post jumps from 40 to 60 suddenly, but if we go to the post amd see the latest comment i.e. the last one, it might not be a new comment, which means somebody had replied to an earlier comment. Now we need to scroll and find out which one it is. This makes it a cumbersome read. All that needs to be done, is sort the whole comment chain based on the latest comment time (retaining the chain). It helps readers like me who follow comments section too!
ranga im sure they will implement suggestions. post some if u have any
