And the next CM of Andhra is…
Yes, if all goes according to plan, South India will see another CM from the film fraternity and this time too like in the last 50yrs, reel life is a bigger stage than the real life.
For the last 6months, the buzz around Coastal Andhra, the traditional seat of money and power of Andhra politics, is steaming from one name. CHIRANJEEVI. The only actor to have the Mega Star tag, something that Rajnikanth doesn’t boast of, and certainly Hindi cinema does not even recognize, has been speculating time and again whether to jump into the fray or wait it out for a while.
Moving from cinema for a while to spin scenarios, Andhra, like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has always loved its most popular actors. NTR, MGR and Raj Kumar have left indelible marks on the state’s policies so much that after the 1984 elections and the subsequent void in the center, NTR came very close to becoming the PM. So what makes these matinee idols such powerful crowd pullers on the voting day? First of course is instant recognition. The south traditionally has been voting regional parties that these doyens have helped create to tackle the distant country’s capital’s Hindi policies that for various reasons don’t gel with south’s situation/condition. Be it entirely opposite culture, customs and sensibilities or people’s aspirations, the roles that the stars portrayed in films was much closer to that the people wanted in their lives. This coupled with strong money/muscle that these men had gave them the edge when voting to choose an unknown congress candidate or a known people’s star.
After NTR, it took a while for any cinema star to enter politics primarily for the lack of charisma or reluctance. Rajni not entering directly meant there was only one other persona who could invoke mass hysteria to get people out to polls. Chiranjeevi! Jagadekavirudu, gang leader, Indra, Annayya, Andarivadu, whatever you call him thanks to his films that become convenient propaganda machines , the bottom line remains, he does have what it takes to capture power and hold it for a term.
The above statement by Allu Aravind a couple of days back put to rest all speculation of Chiranjeevi announcing a party. His daughter’s marriage drama could in the long run unite the powerful kapu community with the trump card bhramin community, something that any party in power needs as they form the bureaucratic elite. Combine this with a growing show of affinity between Dasari Narayana Rao, the just dropped Cabinet minister of Congress and various grass root leaders who are ready to jump the ship, Chiranjeevi is slowly but surely forming the necessary array of luminaries whose support he will need to counter Chandrababu Naidu. He also has Rajnikanth on his side, something that was proved with Rajni announcing his next movie kucheludu in Hyderabad and their camaraderie during Chiranjeevi’s turbulent times. Also Ashwini Dutt and Allu Aravind will be the money bags that he will have to dig deep into and not to forget Allu Arjun and his son Charan who will be beneficial during campaign. Ofcourse there is Pawan Kalyan, Chrianjeevi’s brother who is probably second to none in mobilizing the youth to a frenzy that will be needed on the d-day.
But will all this ruin a film career that he has spanned three decades and is still spoken as a struggle against all odds… or does Naidu have something up his sleeve, that will unite not only the state but a third front.
Watch this space, this is one saga that needs a lot of retelling.

LOL! the facts are, ravptor, 1. in front crocodiles festival (???????? ?????? ?????), 2. KC is no NTR, and 3. house win before stage win (??? ?????? ???? ???????).
lol wb, I know. Arre baba, only 2 things: Movies and Politics are what we can play devil’s advocate with. Cricket tho govinda govinda!
But, what do u think? Will he?
Picchi Picchiga Votlesarante chimpestanu jaagrattha!! Mana Andhra vallantha kalisi naaku pacchi pacchiga votlesi CM cheyyandi, mee life aaru Bappi lahiri songlu, aidu horsemen babu fightlato nimpestanu!
Already naa baammardi ki industry raasicchesaanu…meeru votlesthe, mottham rashtram vaadiki raasichestanu!! Neenu pakka family man!! Etlu…Mee…Megastar…
Dear Sir
We the kapu comunity constitute more than 43 percent of the total population AP.
The congress party and TDP have taken us for granted it is now the right time to unite under the leadership of megastar chirajeevi.
The great PRESIDENT NEELAM SANJEEVI REDDY ALSO DITCHED OUR COMMUNITY,
Yes sir, like all the previous politicians, please play caste politics and try to make fools and idiots like this venkatram happy!
Andhra “Daridram” is the caste system! What bloody community are these guys talking about? Aren’t we all Telugu and then Indians? Do Kapu’s have an extra piece hanging? Do Reddy’s have three balls instead of two? What the fuck is wrong with you all?
One day the different parts of the body decided to elect a leader among themselves.
The brain said,
Another actor decides to go in for politics and it’s the ‘Megastar’ Chiranjeevi no less !
Movies and politics have never matched. People feel betrayed more than anything else.
No offense to anyone but, entering politics is just another way for an actor to increase his income.
Chiranjeevi may sail through if he decides to contest; but i think he’ll only have a lot of disillusioned and disgruntled fans at the end of Five years (if he does survive the entire term that is.)
It is futile to compare Chiru to NTR. For one NTR had a grounding in politics and also the political climate is different.
When NTR entered politics, the Dilli Durbar ran the shots, changing CM’s at whim, and not caring about the Andhra public. NTR picked up this issue, and he emerged as the only opposition leader to take on Indira Amma’s might. And NTR’s was not a fluke victory, it was a tactical victory. He bought in Youth to politics in large numbers, and that proved to be a refreshing contrast to the Barmey Army which the Congress had become.
In sharp contrast, the Dilli Durbar is not so omniprescent and powerful. And any one writing off Naidu in politics, needs to have their heads checked. That guy is a master tactician, and he is a politician to the core. It is one thing for Chiru to do a Mutha Mestri kinda stuff on screen, and another thing to pit his wits against Nara. Unlike in NTR’s time, when he was the sole opposition voice, the masses have an alternative here in Nara.
So it aint gonna be so smooth for Chiru. And yes if he depends on Allu Arvind for advice, he does not need any further enemies.
I guess this is not the platform for this domain of bull shitting.
Please save some grace and dont make telugu people as nasty peice of shits. wid such cheap conversation.
NO CASTE NO HERO FANS NO PERSONAL REMARKS….
bne urself and dont ever criticize, nobody has any right for it.
I agree with Ratnakar. Chiranjeevi also hasn’t made *any* of his standings very clear. Either he’s holding cards very close to his chest, thereby not alienating anyone OR he simply hasn’t got an idea. Whereas say CBN/YSR can wax eloquent about the WB/IMF (important topics in AP mind you, considering the WB loans we have got), I don’t think Chiranjeevi can pull it off. Chiru’s fans cut across caste/social lines, so it will be very interesting how he deals with such an issue.
i seriously dont think he will make a good leader…. he just doesnt have the experience or expertise… he might win for the first time due to the euphoria and thats the time he has prove himself.. otherwise his party will just fade away… and i cant see him coming back to films after a stint in politics like BIG B….AB still has lot of good roles coming up… but for a telugu actor film career is over once he nears 60. Unless u want to play as herione dad or uncle……. and i dont think Chiru will be play those roles.
Dr. Chiranjeevi
The minimum expectations of the people for corruption-free governance, preservation of natural resources, affordable and effective legal system, equal opportunities for growth, et cetera have been long over due. On the contrary, people have been bereft of political decorum and camaraderie at various levels of today’s political spectrum.
To clean the system and to serve the society at large, we, the people of Andhra Pradesh earnestly appeal you to march into the political arena. We firmly believe that your integrity, hard working, and selflessness will surely help the people regain their trust in the political field, in general and in government administration, in particular.
While, your remarkable success in the life shows your virtues such as integrity, hardworking, patience, and fortitude, your contributions to the society through the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT) stands as a testimony to your kindness and generosity to the humanity.
“Character is power”, so said Booker Washington. And as rightly said in the movie Spiderman, “with power comes responsibility”! We, undoubtedly, trust that you have the power of character. It is not only an opportunity for you, but, if we may say, it is also your responsibility to rise to the occasion. You are the man who can make lasting positive impact on the lives of the people and future of our beloved state – Andhra Pradesh
