Nanda, Bala, Pithamagan, Naan Kadavul : My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family of the editors. I dedicate an unforgettable 90s number rendered soulfully by Kumar Sanu to the aggrieved. Back to Angles and Demons. I think even we have quite subtly handled such subjects back in the 90s. “God and Gun” came the closest, shot in Shirdi the Vatican of India. It had Rajkumar in the role of Hanks and Jackie in the role of Evan. It questioned the inner most demons which instantly get titillated when we see the earthly angles. It also dealt with the very touchy topic of erectile dysfunction. ON the whole I though Angles and Demons was a decent fare with some great locales, even though Ron was not given permission to shoot on actual location. Kuddos Ron. And In fact why waste time and words here, I’ll write a separate post. Please do wait for it with bated breath.

Watched it tonight.. and the city had all the shows in Hindi..
The best part of the film was the “AntiMatter” Nuclear Weapon Container was called “Kanastar” (?????? – ????) all throughout the film..
pavan- I guess “Kanastar” is meant to indicate canister which basically means a container.So taking that it into account I guess “kanastar” to chalta hai
Another interesting fact is that Angels & Demons has not released in any of the major National multiplex chains like PVR,Inox,Cinemax,Big Cinemas etc and released only in the single screens and standalone multiplexes.
I had decided to stop commenting on PFC 2 days back. Mainly because of what you are trying to say.

Indeed it is.. but mostly we (in our part) use “kanastar” to refer one specific kind of canister made by tin/steel (in the category of peepa/pipa) to store grains/oil/ghee.. so I found it funny.. I was expecting them to use a better word, as much as expected Ron Howard to do better..

Vasan, this is the beauty of the creator of these lines.. in an insignificant scene of the film, he created the CRUX of the film.. “main yaa main nahin”:)

Btw the best Hindi dubbing I have ever seen was December 94’s last week release Aladdin.. Spent the new year watching the original in Chennai, night show on 31st December and welcomed the new year on MG Road.. Came back to Jaipur and Hindi Aladdin was waiting and I was not disappointed.. Chetan Shashital was superb as Genie as counterpart to Robin Williams and all the dialogs were superbly matched.. So as music by Ranjit Barot.. Superb work.. another good dubbing example was The Rock.. but Shakti Singh and team is unable to match those good works (and the dialog writer has been pathetic)..

I think Speed & MIB series also had good Hindi dubbing.MIB had the typical tongue in cheek language & the Hindi dubbing was almost on par with the original.
watched the movie sometime back in a standalone theatre in pune (in english). loved the entire single-screen experience after a long time, but somehow the movie was a big bore, at least the first half. slept upto interval.

I have not read the book but I was told the ending was altered in the movie.
Ron Howard is a very good director..but has dramatized his movies in the last two-three attempts.
The lead lady knew everything from antimatter to vatican archives..what range!
