Announcing- “That Girl in Yellow Boots”
Anurag Kashyap | Exclusive, My Diary | October 20, 2009 at 11:27 am
Yes that’s the title of the movie i am making now. Forget media speculations about “Happy Ending” and “Bombay Velvet”. BV ’s script is not yet locked, its far from complete and who knows how many drafts to go. I was in the Jury of Venice and met a lot of filmmakers, saw a lot of films that shamed me, inspired me, challenged me and i realized that i haven’t shot anything in more than a year. I have been planning and dreaming and more planning and more planning. I needed to make a film.
I narrated an idea to Kalki, whose playwriting skills were fantastic enough to win her and her co-writer an award. I personally had read a lot more of what she wrote, so i narrated an idea to her, asked her to write. She wrote random scenes, i kept pushing her , she kept writing. We got together her theatre friends, some great new age actors, as yet unexposed to cinema, we improvised scenes, then on 24th and 25th of september i sat down and wrote a draft out of all her writings and improvisation. 26th we had a narration that didn’t go down too well. I rewrote it. Everyone liked it. 27th i gathered the team together , i announced i want to start shooting in 20 days. Kshipra, Neel , my a.d’s freaked out. They yelled, screamed at me, tried to make me see sense, i did’t see it. I just knew i had to do it now or i would get into a rut of big time. They are the darlings, them , vasan, shlok, prerna, kashyap das, all my friends, they all said , lets do it. We borrowed monies, Guneet Monga(Dasvidaniya) came on board with Shibani and then brought in Yogesh Tewathiya(production team) , Rajeev Ravi(my all and everything) flew down on 28th, wasiq khan came on board on 29th, shubhra my costumes person came on board on 29th, My friends Amar Butala and Jordi lend us monies to start work, Sanjay Singh gave us some more monies,
My friend Mitul from Chandigarh transferred monies and one other support system of mine that i can’t name, made a large sum available to me. We found out about Canon 5D and went looking for it and ended up with the new canon 7D , launched on the first of this month. We decided to go digital. Our guerilla teams were ready, we decided while the city celebrates Diwali, we will shoot on the streets, shoot we did, in front of the whole city , only they did not know it.
Five days of shooting over and i realized, sometimes all you need is the will and the faith and a willingness to succumb to the temptation of making a film. Go out and experiment, don’t wait for things to fall in place and beg borrow and steal if you may, and no one in the world can stop you.
So here on PFC I announce my film in progress. It’s called
“That Girl in Yellow Boots”
Its a thriller and features Kalki Koechlin with Prashant Prakash(from the play-The skeleton Woman), Gulshan devaiyah, Pooja Swaroop, Kumud Mishra, Shiv Subramanyam, Divya Jagdale, Thani and Naseeruddin Shah.
Music by debutante Naren Chandavarkar
Rest of the crew you know.
So wish us luck. 19 days shoot ends on november 10th and we will talk then.

Anurag Sir,
this is a delight, I wish you all the best and awaiting its completion with baited breath….
Hi Anurag
I will be there for Gulaal screening in London Film Festival on 25th October, Sunday. Will you be there? If yes, can I get a chance to meet you there?
PS: We have met before, in Prithvi. I am the same guy who talked about you doing a movie with Tigmanshu Dhulia and you told me you’re already working with him in ‘Shaagird’.
i am shooting.. apologies.. can’t come
@ Anurag – you continue to amaze me.. all the best.
Mr Anurag
I am just wondering if u and abhay deol are teaming up for a movie again.
I really liked Dev D infact one of my best movie this year and I belive abhay deol suits your type of filmmaking.
How about sequel of Dev D
Oh no. I would seriously advise Anurag against any sequels. I thoroughly enjoyed Dev.D too, and it is an epic movie, that’s why you don’t go ahead and kill it.
I would like to see Anurag working with Abhay Deol and John Abraham again. John too, gave a fantastic performance in No Smoking.
WOW!! That was super fast!!
Absolute passion. Respect!
All the best. Agar buri banaayi toh gaaliya khaayega.
I was afraid that after Dev.D’s success u may only make big budget movies. Absolutely thrilled that ur making an indie movie in the indie manner. Beg borrow steal money and hope there are some guerrilla style shooting ala Paanch. All the best for this venture!
Wow!!! Can’t wait for it..
Wow. Great News Sir. All The Best for your latest venture. Your first film with Naseer saab. I am sure he will rock, along with others, of course1
thats called passion…karna hain to karna hai.. and I am glad that after succeess of DEV D, you are not running after stars and making only larger then life films rather you are still interested in making experimental films with low budget and not so big star cast….
best of luck…
that sounds real cool… you want to shoot, go and shoot, do not talk. on similar line… (good, bad and ugly)
planning…planning and planning…. no swimming till u r in deep water. waiting to end my waiting game.
Anurag… all the best!
Hey Anurag… what do think of PIXAR scripts?
Hey Anurag, that sounds phenomenal, really curious to see the results of 7D, was it a complete outdoor handheld guerilla style shoot? what kinda lighting did you use? btw i just finished making a short with a 5d mark II, very happy with the results, please watch the trailer of my film and let me know what you think. cheers and all the best for the film!!

Hey Madhur,
That looks quite good man. I am shooting a 20 minuter come december. We are looking at Red, but in Bombay, its still bloody expensive to hire (for an indie guy atleast).
Would like to know more about the camera from you? Is it full HD. Any problems you faced. You can contact me on agpsthefilm@gmail.com
Guys, you need to tap into this discussion at PFC LABs http://passionforcinema.com/club/topic/shooting-hd-on-the-canon-5d-mark-ii
Thanx Oz. It was very helpful.
thanks OZ, just what i was looking for.
What abt Paanch man ? …. last heard . .it was getting a release in March 09 …
Yeah, Anurag, where is Paanch? You said it was finally ready for release on NDTV Bombay Talkies. I’ve read so much about it, but not all of us can afford to go to International Film Festivals. Looking forward to seeing it in India soon.
@ Anurag Sir
WOW this is superb
U give ppl lot of inspiration
I cant wait to watch this film
u r my all time fav director
I wish one day i’ll get a chance to assist u
I am awaiting to see what your frame in the Bombay-Diwali will look like, full of smog and lights or poor emaciated staring at the skies… anyways these are just cinematic cliches. Am looking forward to see if you repeat a No Smoking. I loved the script.
Meanwhile, anything on Doga?
Wow! Anurag this is pure passion for cinema I must say.All the best to you & the entire team.Looking forward to this one excitedly.
24 days of shooting??
‘ll be pretty cool, if you can pull it off.
Hope you do.
All the best!! I still fondly remember the scene in No Smoking when K tries to smoke for the first time after the meeting with Baba. Such tension!! Thriller, eh? I am sure you ‘ll do well!
Wow. Just cant wait for it…the way you have organised everything is itself a thrilling experience.
Best of luck.
~Ashu Bhai MAPRM wale
Wow, so glad you’re making another interesting film, and that too on a small scale. Very, very curious as to how the 7D stacks up to the 5D. The sensor size is smaller, I believe (APS-C vs 35mm full-frame on the 5DMkII) but how much of an impact this has on the video I don’t know. Have seen some very impressive early results with the 7D, but think you may be the first team to shoot a feature with it.
VKB
Bring it on Anuraag Paaji!!!
Will be eagerly waiting in the theatre with a large bag of popcorn and a large cola, ready to be trampled by “That girl in yellow boots”
All the best Anurag, and keep your passion for the “Indie” stuff going on, hoping to see it soon.
U and Naseer for first time!!!! Now that’s something to look forward to.
Best of luck
great lesson to sleepers like me

Anurag,
I am quite inrigued by “the new age actors” you talk about. We are shooting in December. Need a few new talented theatre actors. Can you recommend any link to tap them?
Thanx anyways.
contact vasan on PFC ..send him a private message
Thank you Anurag. Thanks a bunch. We’ll get in touch with him.
and… put in your request at PFC Jobs – http://passionforcinema.com/club/forum/jobs
Cool Oz,
We’ll do it.
Btw, how do I send a Private Message to Vasan? Hope its not too silly a question.
Savio
Are you also looking for any young actors? If you are oraganising any auditions please let me know.
joshever777@yahoo.com
this is great news..all the best Anurag bhai..but everytime u talk abt a project ‘indie’ in nature i fear if its goin to be as abstract as No Smoking which I hvnt been able to enjoy yet
though I watch it everytime I can..anyway loads of luck to ur new project..btw when is Mumbai Cutting coming?
is the mitul from Chandigarh (as you mentioned) , Mitul dikshit (or mital dikkat as we call him)?
best of luck, AK. looking forward to it already…
All the best Anurag! as others mentioned, quite excited to see naseer jee working with you. Indian ocean, Amit Trivedi n now Naren chandavarkar. Hope he turns out to be as good as the others you worked with before.
BRING IT ON…ALL D BEST!!!
Its amazing to see how some people are never taken aback with publicity(Dev D), popularity(Venice) and success(UTV deal) and still retain the passion of what they believe in. Kudos to you !!
brilliantly said!!
@Anurag
You are shooting in digital ?…does that mean the movie will go straight to DVD’s or are you gonna blow it up for the 35mm ?
Hey Anurag,
Good to see that you are in action behind the camera all over again…
whats news of Bombay Velvet?
I met you at IHC and we were sitting at the deck and chatting if u remember??…i had given you a scroll when we were leaving the place…When are u going to be in Delhi next?
Have something very interesting to discuss.

Hi Anurag,
Like the world, love your films…wish you success for your new project(s).If not success and fame atleast we share the same passion for movies(or storytelling as I call it)…it may sound filmy but I also started shooting my shorts in a similar fashion a few weeks back.Just couldnt resist and borrowed a panasonic DVX102B(the one which they use to shoot weddings:-)). made a team of non pro actors and technically zero technicians like myself…Borrowed money (still in debt:-)). [Also came to know that borrowing money is lot easier if you do it for something you really believe in.] I am sure will meet you very soon not only as a fan but also as an interesting filmaker(say AMEN). Thanks for inspiring me and many.
Congo!! and Best of LUCK!!! is se jyada kya bolun???….film sambhalne k liye aap ho…… aur verdict sambhalne mein hum peeche nahin rahenge!!!:) Bani na ek aur hit!!:)
3 Cheers for Anurag and Guerilla Filmmaking. Some say cannon 7d is better than Red One. I haven’t tried both. But We shot 116 min “Dvandva” on sony z1, with all first time film-makers and i say i love digital and now God is going digital. So three cheers for Digital Film making as well. And Let me know when i can show you my digital guerilla Film?
Look at this, unbelivable, i wish i had this one
http://vimeo.com/5981422
DVANDA or the Soumitra Chatterjee starrer Dwando, directed by Sumon Ghosh, Cinematography by Barun Mukherjee(baghban, Baabul) ?
No, This Dvandva

best of luck sir ! ..I recently read somewhere about your three film deal with UTV ..true?? is this one of them??
Great news !
A thriller named “That Girl in Yellow Boots” is intriguing ! Will eagerly wait for the premiere.
All the best to Kalki, you and the team !

Are you shooting the whole movie with a SLR?
It’s going to be groundbreaking, as everything AK touches is! And an absolute mystery
Can’t wait for this…
the title sonds like ‘ the woman with red hair’. hope the subject/film has any link to it, best of luck, must not forget closed ones
best of luck Anurag…..
movie shot on canon-7
http://vimeo.com/6786420
no mention of the multi movie deal with UTV? Thought you sold out … looks like all’s well
Best wishes!
Uber Indie! Super cool.
yeah and I see you mentioned as an actor in it… ho jaye!
The best way to make scathing reviewers avoid writing reviews about your movies is take them as actors in your movie
Take khaled, deepa gehlot, minty tejpal, rajeev masand etc as actors and your movie is a sure shot hit.
Dear A.K.,
Can’t wait for your next movie…Dev D was so good and it meant a lot to me. It sort of gave me direction when I needed it the most.
Thank You!
T
Wow…here comes the announcement from the man himself. You rock man. Hope the music director Naren lives upto your music taste. I have seen the play Skeleton Woman, both were awesome. And I was sure that after Ishkiyan Naseer was doing a movie with you. He said you’re the director with balls
great to hear this anurag . i know this movie as is the case with your previous will have a unique take . the title is indeed very intruiging . i just wanted to know about your plans to make Doga . are u doing it or not . since u havent mentioned it at all among your forthcoming flicks. i was very excited to hear u helming a super hero flick & was sure it had to be an original & gritty take on the genre . Whats happening to that movie
anurag
its thrilling to know ur shooting on canon dslr
ive done some reading on 5d and 7d lately.
7d is not really an advanced version of 5d as the number suggests. 7d is a cheaper camera with APS-C Sensor(25.1 × 16.7mm) while Canon 5D has a Full-frame sensor(36×24 mm) the same size as in 35mm film. Therefore a huge difference, in price and quality.
The bigger sensor gives far greater low-light performance and higher image quality.
May be u guys know all this and chose 7d for some reason which i would really like to know, whenever u can talk abt it.
some googling on the topic, if it helps you
http://www.google.co.in/search?q=aps-c+vs+full+frame&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
u cant imagine how excited i am about this, been following 5D for a long time now, game changing possibilities.
wish u great luck, keep experimenting
Great to know a big director like you isn’t afraid to take risks even at this stage in your film career, not unexpected, but inspirational nevertheless. here’s hoping it inspires enough people, including me, to get off our asses and start making movies.
PFC One, Here I Come.
Oh, and all the best with this endeavor.
No matter what films you make I will always follow ur blog…ur honesty and nature is on full display when u blog..there r very few people in this whole world, forget the film industry as nice as u…
Since we are on the topic of Canon 7, pls take a look at what one Mister Adolf Hitler has to say about the Canon 7 camera.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZp9WMy4ihg
Worth the 3 minutes:)
All the very best for “That girl in yellow boots”
You all sound like frustrated bunch trying to find out what you like in movies or life in general. I am visiting this site for sometime now thinking ppl will be discussing some interesting aspects of film making or at least films. All u guys do is, scratching each others back. Amateur writing and going gaga over what ever is weird. Anurag Kashyap seems god of film making here. Just look at his past work.
*Dev D (2008) (2009) – Except for powerful Paro and some above average music what is there for this film. Half baked characters, weird Chanda, and bunch of fools
* Hanuman Returns (2007)- Most pathetic movie of the year
* No Smoking (2007) – Do I need to write more?? Ask any one who has seen this movie (he must not be on pfc and “fan” of AK
* Black Friday (2004) – One of the better docu drama but nothing ground breaking
* Gulal (2009) – Except for some lyrics what u see here???
* Paanch (2003) – Did anyone saw it? Even if u saw, yr opinion does not count as most of the ppl don’t know
As a writer:
Anurag has written
* Meridian (2007) haha wht is that
* Lajjo (2007) ??
* Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007) Seriously u like it??
* Shaka Laka Boom Boom (2007) hahaha
* Main Aisa Hi Hoon (2005) – I m sam??
* Deewaar (2004) ??
* Yuva (2004) – One of the best movies of AK
* Black Friday (2004) – Was based on very good book
* Paisa Vasool (2004) – huh??
* Paanch (2003) – Only AK and few of his “fans” know wht is this and ofcourse sensor board
* Nayak: The Real Hero (2001) – Now this is u call “CINEMA”!!!
* Jung (2000) – Even actors of the film disowns it(for different reason though)
* Shool (1999) – My personal favorite, can’t take away from AK
* Kaun (1999) – Good movie (Kudos if AK wrote screen play for this)
* Satya (1998) – He was coauthor but best work
* Kabhie Kabhie (TV series) (1997) – ?????
And if u sensible enough to get this, I am not trying to analyse AK or his work here. It’s about you guys who gets blown away by announcement of some “The girl in the yellow boots”.
Seriously think again!!!!
Yes, Rajvir, we need more people here like you. Not that I don’t like AK, but I honestly believe his best work is ahead of him.
However, I would like it if you gave somewhat more pertinent criticisms. Dev.D, for example: I have my own problems with the movie, but what you say seems more like objectified opinion (opinion that you’re treating as objective fact) than real criticism.
Rajvir, the conclusive remarks that you have put in front of almost every good movie, a lot of us have exact opposite opinion on them. Since I can only reply to your comment on PFC, and since I have written a couple of articles and a few hundred comments on PFC, I see I automatically qualify as a PFC person in your eyes and I accept that.
However, this bracketing of all PFC readers is bullshit and we have seen enough of it. You have any better analysis of Dev D, or No Smoking, or Black Friday, come forward with it. If not, stop passing judgments on them. You as a cine-goer did not enjoy those films, lot of other did. Is it so hard a fact to digest?
I personally didn’t like Gulaal and No Smoking both. I thought Dev D was super and the music that you call above-average was one of the best soundtracks of ALL TIME for me. So, are you going to pass judgment on me now?
If you have contradictory view of something, explain it. Just stating that so and so was bullshit, will not make you look cool or different.
I seriously think you need to watch a lot of Global Cinema, and not just BOLLYWOOD. Who else do you think is the most futuristic visionary of Indian Cinema? Anees Bazmee ? Karan Johar ? David Dhawan ? I don’t believe your choice should be any wider than this…
DUDE, U OBVIOUSLY NEED AN EDUCATION ON CINEMA…GO GET A CINEMA SCREEN…AND FOR A CHANGE, WATCH.
True I need some education in “CINEMA” to discuss with you all educated people. My point is not how good or bad AK is. My point is your reactions. “Sirji”, “Cinema ki kassam” or somebody was mentioning some kind of orgasm after watching DEV D or somethig….. sort.
Saurabh Shukla strted blogging and pople go gaga. I’ve came across one of SS interview about his role in Slumdog and how his work was appreciated etc. I had to revisit SD (another over hyped mediocre but technically superb film).
And as someone smartly pointed out, I never like any of Karan Johar, Anees Bazmee (I like small portion of Deewangee but I came across much better depiction in Primal Fear) and David Dhavan. That is fool’s cinema or for that matter 99% of Hindi movies.
Btw anyone liked “Aamir” by Rajkumar Gupta???
I guess .. the reason .. most people(including me) do like & appreciate AK (sometimes more than deserved) .. is because .. .
everyone applauds not just his cinema … but also the resistance and struggle, that he had to go through … to present the cinema that he believes in
u may find that unfair & biased .. but that is what the passion is .. and IMO .. that is what needs to be applauded . .and that’s exactly the reason for .. just the announcement of an upcoming film .. creating so many waves.
i don’t think AK even knows personally most of the ‘PFC’ people that root for him .. the connection is still there . because .. everyone wants to be a Howard Roark . .and they see AK achieving a portion of ‘Roark’ism. ;)
try to go through some of his (AK’s) earlier posts. maybe I’ll seem making some sense then.
It’s always about the ‘I’ .. as someone wisely said.
I guess its enough justification on either side. I will reiterate that my comments were not to criticize AK or for that matter anyone else. And “Howard Roark” is towering claim after looking at AK’s work so far. If u really know the character then you will know what I mean. Anyways “Yatha praja, tatha raja”. U deserve what u ask for or rather compromise for! Otherwise why among 100 Cr population and almost 100 years old film industry, you still get crap week after week. I appreciate your bias towards somebody’s struggle and I respect the achievements of individuals. Rags to reaches stories are always popular.
I will end this endless debatge which may not make sense to most of you by this comment posted above
“Naseer Sahab, Kalki, theatre, “Canon 7D”, November 10th…
wooooooohooooooooooo…..
may the energy be true and vision be immaculate…
ho ho hooooooooo”
tons of wishes Sir Ji…
I am not judging but do you really think Kalki’s acting skills so far deserves to be excited. And what @ Cannon 7D. Do you really think it can make ground breaking cinema for you??
All I was asking for was some honesty in appreciation.
Anyways probably wrong place.
Very Very Interesting
>>>> And “Howard Roark” is towering claim after looking at AK’s work so far
HR’s character is as much fiction as possible. That is obviously towering. In my view there’s a part of HR’s ideology in AK’s work.
On a non-serious note – AK’s work can never be HR’s. because IIRC HR was an architect and AK is a filmmaker
>>>> Otherwise why among 100 Cr population and almost 100 years old film industry, you still get crap week after week.
OMG !!! an eye-opener .. Shall I stop appreciating a Black Friday or Gulaal because there are others making a Singh is King and race … What’s your point ? There’s even more sense to appreciate good work … when it is surrounded by some very crappy stuff.
In my earlier comment I ended with – “It’s always about the ‘I’”
Elaboration .. I’m very Selfish in my appreceiation of any X’s work … I appreciate not ‘what he makes’ but ‘what i like’. If both happen to be same. That’s just a coincidence. There’s no Raja and no praja .. yaaraa.
Would like to add on “Roark’ism” mentioned above.
When Ellsworth Toohey aske Howard, “What do you think of me?” – and the reply was, – “I don’t think of you.”
When someone take down “No smoking” or if you suggest the maker of “No smoking”, the reply was (even nobody asked for it)
“Chu#*ye tera time khatam” (May not be the exact words)
You know Roark is very popular metaphor for medicre ppl trying to boost their ego. I read one of Vivek Oberoi’s interview just @ Company days. And he was making tall claims in this line.
You guys worship someone for some reasons and other people worship people like Thakreys for some other vision or reason.
Where’s the difference?? I know there is a huge difference but try to get the point. Samjha karo yaar!!!
Need to add more?
wow rajvir… just read your posts here… cant agree with you more.. cause I can totally understand what you are pointing out at.. and I am pretty sure so can Anurag Kashyap himself… will write in more details… (need to rush out of office now, after a long day of postings on PFC) but yes… i totally sense the indication that you give out about the blind hero worshipping… I had the same thought when I first came to PFC… that the entire Gulaal ka idea might have struck AK right here… him being Dukey Banna
…
Fortunately notice that AK has thankfuly not gone around replying to each one of us
will write in more detail once I squeeze some more time out…

Which is why I said we need more people like you. Hero worship being justified by the quality of the worshipped doesn’t make it justified for the worshippers to do so.
Also, I thought the same of SDM, but later I found out that Roger Ebert predicted its oscar win right after watching the movie.
Yes Roger Ebert is well read, cinematically literate person with balanced outlook. But you should not forget the fact that he is from the same diaspora of people deciding the fate of various movies at Oscars. And you never know, his opinion might even have influenced some opinions in the process.
Btw do you really think Sean Penn portrayal of Harvey Milk was more deserving then Mike Rourke’s Randy??
So SDM winning too many oscars can not be the only criteria for cinematic value of the movie.
Don’t get me wrong; all I was saying was that there must be something to it if it was so obvious that it would be the winner.
Also, Ebert only publicly predicted a nomination beforehand. He wrote about the win prediction in a note to Danny Boyle right after seeing the movie. He’s well aware of the influence his opinion can have.
Also, I have to get down to watching both Milk as well as The Wrestler(been doing classics lately. ;)), so I can’t say. Of course, it is true that getting the Oscar doesn’t mean quality necessarily.
Just to clarify in the beginning – I’m not at all here trying to take down AK or saying that he’s not doing good work. But my concern is attitude of people on this forum. It seems the PFC elite group is here to just scratch each other’s back. Some ppl will comment like “dats wht I called passion for cinema” and you don’t see that from random people, but from the people who are part of the PFC group. They must’ve used the same sentence or word hundred times on this forum. This just shows the point is that either there vocabulary is very limited or they just try to put this type of sentences everywhere, and I think later is the case.
From quite some time the whole feeling of the forum is that we will tolerate and defend mediocrity, if its from the person who is the part of some PFC elite. Some really mediocre posts are being posted here which are being posted by the PFC team and when somebody criticizes is validly, all come to defend the crap stuff.
The quality of posts are going down day by day. As somebody commented above that we started following this forum because we thought this forum will give us insights not just the information. We hardly see any posts which talk about various aspects of film making or really gives us insights into the movies. Even the reviews are here are just for fun and not of high standards. Nobody even talk about the technical aspects if the movie in detail and everybody deems here that they have birth right to make ill-informed or rude remarks on actors, directors and other technical people. This forum has becoming more of a ground for taking out personal frustration on actors, directors etc etc…..we hardly see is a post which is perfectly balanced and have a opinion which is not dwelling towards extreme. We see many promotional posts on this forum and slowly slowly it seems that it is now a substantial part of the posts posted here. Another area of concern here for me is that the way criticisms are taken here…..the criticism are being ridiculed here. If somebody is eager enough to argue on a point, which is against the opinion of PFC elite……then he is being ridiculed more often then not. I’m not trying to lecture here on the etiquette but my point is through this we will take away the beauty of this forum i.e. difference of opinion.
The reason for commenting here is not to show that I’m intelligent and other people here are fools. I’m commenting here as a responsible reader, who likes this forum and would love to keep reading interesting stuff here.
In between all this I forgot to say that Good news!…I’m eager to see another thriller from AK. I hope it holds still some elements of No smoking (not story wise but abstracts).
I completely agree with you!! You covered most of the points I was trying to make in one well structured post. Next time, I will arrange my thought patterns before jumping on key board. And I do realize laziness in correcting spelling mistakes do disgusts the readers (I am talking about my comments).
Anyways keep it up. Hopefully someone somewhere is thinking the same.
WOW SOUNDS INTERESTING
Hey so is this film for film festivals only or are we going to see it on DVD or in cinema halls
Looking forward to it
all the best
Nothing but all the very best.
gr8 news… all d best
the title is interesting…i once had yellow boots too…i remember reading this short story that said, “dream of ridiculous man”…i found the title intriguing and assumed it to be be comical…but it wasn’t – it was depressing, dark but very well written…i was taken by the story, and some idiot had printed that story out with the title but it had no author’s name on it..so i googled the title anxiously…guess who had written it – none other than Fyodor Dostoevsky, my all time favorite…
do u know that al pacino too has directed some of the films too and they r really good….some people are truly creative and are always ready to experiment – i mean Al Pacino is an amazing actor, but who would have thought that he could direct films and they r really good too…
anyhow, i think u know i have shifted to mumbai because of my job…i have been writing scripts too for my company – romantic, horror, comical and all of that…it is good fun and they r paying me good too…i’ll surely drop in…infact, i want to drop in to say hello to u…take care and good luck with ur film projects…
Anurag, I am so happy, that you have taken this route. Kudos to you and your team. I am curious about the sound recording part. You must be having a portable recording set up. Could you provide the details of sound recorder(make/model/no of channels) and mics. Is Kunal doing the sound?
Hi, i am a regular reader of your blogs and a critic when it comes to your movies and i love them all. Looking forward to your next one!
Actually at the cost of sounding dumb, i would just like to ask you are you on facebook? because someone has added me and my friends on facebook by your name and for cross checking when i tried to match details (with watever is available on the net) they do’t match and also there a lot of people who have added him or he/ she has added and they all think its you (sorry if that is indeed you)and people r talking abt your films etc thinking it to be you, please clarify.
Thanks,
Saba Siddiqui
good luck with the movie anuraag
; i hope it turns out as good as gulaal and devD or even better
.
this title reminds me of the tom hanks movie title ‘the man with one red shoe’
Hey Anurag, Good to know the success has not made you sit back and wait for the right time and the stuff. The process itself is enjoyable the end results matters… but will be like icing on the cake. All the best to your team. May your tribe increase and may more people realise it is all in the mind.
Cheers!
AKS
all the best anurag…
Digital is the way to go…..We need more than just the regular celluloid. There was another low budget Bengali Digital Film that had released this year that I saw and loved visually called Bish(Poison). I saw some other digital films that were not as impressive. Is Rajeev Ravi doing the cinematography ?
Well done!
In bocca al lupo!
Waiting for news about it.
Ciao.
Celeste
All the Best to you Sir!!
wow now dats wat a call a real guerilla flick.
Did you shoot the entire thing on the 7D or just certain scenes?
You are a blessing to all the cinema lovers like me
Seems like totally new bunch but sounds promising. Waiting !!
Wish you guys all the best. Just Do It Again.
Anurag,
So finally, how were the tests at Pixion? Are you still as enthused about the 7D.
We are doing our 25 minute short in December and RED ONE was an option, but the rentals are too expensive for Indie ppl like us. For that amount we can buy this 7D baby.
What say?
tests were fantastic.. the camera with a wide lens is 1.35 lacs, i would say buy a 10-22 and a tele lens.. where you can go much closer.. but the wide is a must..
only technical issue is , which is common to most cameras.. if you are looking out the window while focusing on object inside and the outside is too bright.. you have to make a choice.. expose for outside.. inside goes black.. expose for inside , outside burns out..
Thank you Anurag. That was very helpful.
Spoke to Canon India. Its officially out in Mumbai, within next 3 days. Fingers crossed.
hey rajvir probably no body gave you the answer you wanted.forget about ak and other fans.you want to discuss cinema and its other technical aspects please go to pfc club, and you will find a hundred who talk about cinema and all.wish you luck for your career and hope to read yor comment and answers at pfcclub.
Akash,
Getting answer was never the intention. And neither discussing AK or his work.
just wanted to reflect on mediocrity flowing on the site (I still appreciate the writing as someone is actually take pain and try to put their view)…. but comments…
btw what is pfcclub… would like to check it out
It is not the critic who counts, nor the man who points out where the strong man stumbled, or where a doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs, and who comes up short again and again, who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause. The man who at best knows the triumph of high achievement and who at worst, if he fails, fails while daring greatly, so that his place will never be with those cold timid souls who never knew victory or defeat.
- Theodore Roosevelt
Hi Anurag! Had a question on basics of screenplay. Is it absolutely necessary to have subplots in a movie? Would be very grateful if you could reply. Thanks!

Read this and be careful that you don’t waste your hard work and time.
Canon’s EOS 7D experiencing ‘residual image’ phenomenon, fix is on the way.

Congratulations, Anurag! You are one path-breaking director f Bollywood. Best wishes for your new venture
Hey Anurag,
I think ur doing a great work…plz keep it up…I mean for how long can we watch stupid running around the bushes movies? Some one has to bring the change & bring the revolution in the film industry & so far your doing it brilliantly. We are very proud to have you in the industry.
In mean, while I was also thinking if you are interested to encourage documentaries on our social problem in Mumbai city. I have lived abroad for few years, after coming back I was thinking of leaving coz I thought it is impossible to live here but then I thought I am just running away. Instead I have decided to take up a project, which would help creating awareness in people and also educate them about certain issues. I would not like to disclose the subject of the documentary as it is still under research but since you are my idol in the film industry I would like to know your thoughts.
Regards,
Chetana Jogi
Hey Anurag,
I got to see rushes of this film today. Was at the right place at the right time.
Must say, looks really slick. The shots are quite intriguing.
Hello Sir,
I really love your style as a film maker. And how you also explored the animation movies genre!
But have you heard about ’MACHINIMA MOVIES’? One can make spectacular animation movies for very very low budget using www.Secondlife.com and other such virtual 3d worlds?
I made one ‘machinima movie’ myself and for almost ZERO BUDGET and it won an international film award too!
Plz check out the movie!

Keep up the good work!
Thanks,

yes, 7D shoots 24fps and 5DMK2 doesn’t though it’s got a bigger sensor. The day Canon incorporates this SLR technology in their affordable handycams filmmaking will never be the same again. people renting out Reds and what nots for obscene amounts of money will be out of business.
Sirji, music kaun de raha hai? Ache gane sune bahut din ho gaye. Thodi daya karna.
Anurag, can u please discuss the entire work flow and your shooting experience on the 7D in one of ur blogs? it wld b of great help!
ha ha ,
)
I am wiling bet ,
that anurag is not shooting this film on 5d or 7d,
but on sony 900

spread the stupidity
The movie name reminds me of the girl whose aim is to Kill Bill. All the best and hope this movie adds yet another something new to indian cinema. And of course, waiting for some hidden references to your old movies in this.Nasiruddin Shah comes a bit down my list of favorites but maybe this will change it.
Paanch ki kismat kya kehati hain Sir?
PAANCH ki andar ki kahabar is that there’s some sort of tussle going on between the producer & the distributors.Tutu Sharma had committed alot of paap during the release of his magnum popatz “RAJKUMAR”.He had promised the distributors a large amount of money which he never paid up.So now the distributors are asking for that promised money b4 they release PAANCH.Hence the inordinate delay. So unless they sort that mess its never gonna get released though i too feverently hope it does.
Also check out the Marathi Film “Maphicha Sakshidar” which is based on the same Joshi-Abhyankar murders that happened in the late 1970’s in Pune.It stars Nana Patekar but its availability is nonexistent now.

Santino
