Anurag Kashyap + Pavan Kaul + Mid Day – Yellow Journalism !

If we go on belief then God provided life on earth and created living creatures and rest all is immitation. Not only blogging but every kind or art is started by one person and later others followed but can we call it immitation? Kalidas was writing some 2000 years ago before Shakespere was born so does that mean Shakespere was immitating the art of play writing of Kalidas? Or later Vijay Tendulkar or Girish Karnard were immitating Shakespere or Kalidas? Oscar Wilde wrote Novels and VS Naipaul and Vikram Seth are writing novels so does that mean Mr Naipaul and Mr Seth arecopy catting Oscar wilde?

Khuswant Singh was editor of Illustrated weekly for years and later Pritish Nandi took the charge so that makes Nandi as immitator of Khushwant Singh? and for that matter publishers and proprieters of Mid Day are just copying the exam, ples of Times of India, Star Dust, Film fare, Tehlka.com because these newspapers, magazines and web magazines were published before Mid Day came in to the existence.

Editor of Mid Day cares to look before matter is published in his news paper? Or he has given green signal to his immature journalists to write and publish anything and everything? Reporting needs substance. Did that journalist, who wrote this piece, care to do some research before his fingers ran over his kewboard? Does he know that long before Anurag Kashyap started his blog, Shekhar Kapoor had been writing continuously on his website and he still does so? Even Shekhar wrote his diary from the sets of Golden Age- his new film – a sequel of Elisabeth. Does Mid day and its journalists know that Prakash Jha and Nana Patekar wrote blogs on Rediff.com at the time of releasing of Apaharan. Aamir Khan wrote blog for MSN.com for Rang De basanti and perhaps for Mangal Pande also.

Do Mid day and its reporters think that Anurag Kashyap is the first film director who started writing blogs? Mid Day knows this fact or not but at the time when Khaki was going to be released, Amitabh Bachchan wrote a letter (in the avtar of ACP Srivastava, the character he was playing in the film) which was published in Times of India?

Pavan’s blog is as different from Anurag’s blog as their own personality differs from each other. They are two individuals with different understanding about cinema and life and that makes their blogs different and individual.

Filmi Magazine often take resort of yellow journalism but this effort is not even yellow journalism but black journalism. Do they care to read what Pavan has written on his 2 postings on PFC? His posts have not even 0.01% similarity to what Anurag writes in his posts. While Anurag accepts that blogging is kind of catharsis for him, Pavan tries to share his personal experience with readers on some other level. Pavan writes directly from his own experience in life. His understanding about life. He has spiritual touch in his posts. If reporter has done this just to please someone than he has done a big mistake because Pavan has no harm in this case except some initial self imposed humilations because of his shy nature. Though its not the case but even if he tried to copy Anurag than ultiimately its quality of his writing which will establish his reputation as a writer or blogger and he is a writer of par excellence.

If Mid Day has done this to irritate Pavan and to sabotage his writings then its a  foolish thinking because this is internet era where even President Bush is not successful to impose his thoughts on world as he thinks and wishes so what to talk about Mid Day which has less credibility.

But yes Thanks to Mid Day that it publishes reports about PFC. and Ultimately it will bring Pavan and his film and blog in to lime light so reporter’s intentions are going to see negative results. Pavan will earn more focus on his name and work because of this foolish attempt by Mid Day to defame him.

given your account perhaps Mid Dayneeds publicity badly and we are providing that opportunity to Mid Day and its reporter who wrote that article. Perhaps now he gets more attention at Mid Day and Mid Day also sees good circulation :)

RK, fantastic choice of words. Very smooth flow of writing.

PFC has just been born. PFC & its authors will be going through such attacks more often. Not every1 will share our point of view. These are times when our patience will be tested. We need to take it in our stride & walk ahead.

Lets not give undue publicity to M–Y (dont want to name it) for calling one our colleague a copycat.

Give PFC a year & you will see that its wields a lot of power in cinema world. I am sure then media will think twice b4 posting such nonsense.

Full steam ahead & keep those articles coming in.

    Abhishek, Muzzy: Thanks friends.
This can be true as OZ has thought and has mentioned in his post that some segment of media is not liking that real film makers should interact directly with cine lovers because that takes away their share from the market. Media is based on balance sheets and their managers will be seeing the impact on their business but they forget that its not old world where rumours were harming more because interaction between person and person was depending on speed of communication media available at that time. They forget the reality of today that now some of your neighbour may always be more smart, well prepared and well equipped than you. Its ultimately positive reporting which establishes credibility in the market. Its huge world with vast potentials and PFC is not threat to anyone except to get its destined share.
