Passionate about cinema. Watching cinema of all kinds. I love to be amongst passionate fans and discussing (mostly reading ;) ) about subjects that each individual loves passionately. Firmly believe that with such collective discussions, the boundaries of this otherwise vast field, would get very close. Personal likings : 1) Anything that is related to Kishore Kumar ! 2) Anything that has action in it. 3) I do not like so-called-acting skills where the hero/heroines give expressions, where their facial tissues are not moving. I believe that acting has to be done by the face, by the body, by eyes. Just dumb wooden faces with powerful dialogues - I dont enjoy it. 4) Music ( mostly Hindi , Marathi & Bengali ) is also my passion. Would love to contribute with whatever possible resources and write posts on my favourite subjects ( expecting the same from other PFCians ) Some of my earlier writeups on PFC http://passionforcinema.com/mamta-ki-chhaon-mein-1989-kishore-kumars-swan-song/ http://passionforcinema.com/kishore-kumar-unravelled/ http://passionforcinema.com/music-review-door-gagan-ki-chhaon-mein/ http://passionforcinema.com/kishore-kumar-self-portrait/ http://passionforcinema.com/kishore-kumar-leaves-from-my-diary/

  • Those were the days. Those were the times…
Those were the days. Those were the times. I am sure that in this “fast-food” times of today’s Cinema world, many film/music makers do not even have the willingness of thinking over these two lines. The time when art was worshipped. The time when artists were openly praised/encouraged for their good works. And the time when most of them had healthy relationships,...

  • Songs in Hindi Films – S D Burman
Here is Sachin Dev Burman – the grand young man – the Dada of the industry, talking about films, the importance of story/script/direction/photography and how can songs compliment or destroy the films. I feel these views show what a keen observer Sachinda is, and how much dedicated he is towards the art of Hindi Film Music. No wonder his music is evergreen....

  • Then how can I be a genius ? – Kishore Kumar
We have all seen the comic side of Kishore Kumar in most of his interviews, in books, anthologies and articles. But one has to go in deep and realize that this man was very serious in real life. I managed to acquire some very rare interviews/articles of his ( two of them are already here diary & portrait) and want to present this one too. I am particularly fascinated...

  • Indian Cinema in the Middle East-Gulf
Let me start as an Author here on PFC, with subjects that I normally do not write about My intention to write this article on PFC was to make aware of the huge potential that this region has – especially to the new-age cinema makers. It all started from one article that I had read from the mid 50’s (fortunately I had typed the excerpts many years back and...
