Avakai Biryani film Review

Avakai Biryani Movie Review

The morning show got delayed for 45minutes and I was totally frustrated ,as there were no friends accompanying me I couldn’t share my frustration which made my situation more worse. After entering into the Cinema hall I had to wait for another 15 minutes to watch Anish Kuruvilla’sAvakai Biryani”.

A film from Amigo Creations definitely creates some hope in every telugu film lover due to the reputation of the previous films released through that banner.Anish Kuruvilla’s “Avakai Biryani” is produced by ‘Sekhar Kammula’ and ‘Chandrasekhar Kammula’.

Avakai Biryani” is a small love story of Akbar and Lakshmi in the place called ‘Devarakonda’. Akbar is a muslim Auto Driver and Lakshmi is a Telugu Brahmin who wants to sell the Avakai made by her. Lakshmi is B.Com Hons Graduate and Akbar is yet to pass his final year that was unsuccessful in his last 3 attempts.

The whole story takes place in a village called ‘Devarakonda’ which is a backward area and Akbar fights obstacles to make develop his village. The story moves forward by showing the stigmas towards religions, the encounters between Akbar and Lakshmi. The first part of the film mostly deals with the village and the second part of the film is about the love between Akbar and Lakshmi .

The Cinematography is very good, even though it was shot in a placed like Vikarabad, the Cinematographer Shamdat has to be applauded for his work. The picturization of songs are wonderful and not to forget the music of the film which was just amazing, first when I heard the song Chindesi Chinna Pedda in CD I didn’t like it much but when the same music is used in background it was very good. There are many scenes which I like in “Avakai Biryani” like the one when Akbar clears his exam etc.. and not to forget the comedy especially the about BULLET vehicle,”E Ooru Manadi Raa …” etc… Soundtrack Review here

Avakai Biryani” does have its negative shades too, I did not like some instances in the first half and some minutes scenes in the second half,as “Avakai Biryani” but they can be easily ignored if you are not serious critic. Kamal Kamaraju and Bindhu Madhavi have done a neat job, Comedy by Praneeth is wonderful, Rao Ramesh and Varun give adequate performances. We also have a cameo performance… I hope I can watch the Lip-to-Lip kiss scene atlesat in the DVD.

Anish Kuruvilla has done a good job and does not let you down there are few instances in the film which had a scope for improvisation but on the whole it was good film. The films looks like a nutshell of Village and Love. The film ends by “Thank You SEKHAR”.

Avakai Biryani” is a relatively small film with a big heart. I liked the taste of “Avakai Biryani” and I hope even you people will like it.

i just watched the movie….the film is nice but it lacks commercial values and may not appeal to the regular audience…..on the whole it is a good movie from Sekhar’s production house

    Hi Krishna,

thanks for the positive review of AB. The film wont reach too many people in the US,I dont think they want to watch anything in a rural backdrop.

Anyways, such is the fate of a film…

but things seem to be picking up here in India….

    will write more later

    To anish,

    was disappointed with the movie

my simple question is why were you trying to tackle too many plots in a simple love story… hindu-muslim angle, the social economic issues of the village…and they were some caricature characters also like the rao ramesh ( who was over acting a lot )character and the heroes side kicks character also…some emotions that were shown in the movie were contrived according to me…

expected a lot from this movie…..the treatment would have been lot better….. but it was a honest effort atleast
