BADE GAUR SE SUN RAHA THA ZAMAANA TUMHI BHOOL GAYE FASAANA
I was the last to leave the theatre …I wished Khoya Khoya Chand should not have got an end….what a vintage wine it is!…I could not recollect myself..I just loved the film…surprised by the narrative…breath taking dialogues …great music blended with wonderful songs…an exceptional love story …Nikhat neither go with Jafar nor she is desperate to marry Jafar..Jafar too doesn’t care of Nikhat’s illness and want to make his film….Is this the revenge Jafar is taking out with his father in the form of Nikhat..? I wanted to see Jafar becoming a successful Director..I wanted to see the end of Nikhat…Just wished to see the reaction of Jafar when Nikhat dies..the last moments of Nikhat…wanted to see what Nikhat could have wished in her last breathes.. but ….?
Half of the theatre already vacated just after the interval…The rest of the audience were making obscene comments…the other half indulged themselves in their cell phones…It was clear that there is nothing left in the movie for the audience…audience has given the verdict…it’s a bakwaas film…why ? Is it because this is the audience who has just watched OM SHANTI OM last week or the film has not any interval point…or this the audience who just rejected NO SMOKING and SAAAWARIA……the film doesn’t have story….or the film has not necessary ingredients…no fasaana no fun …did they forgot how to tell a story…?The theatre in which I watched the film cost me 100 bucks same as the other audiences has paid…The audience has come all the way from their home to watch this film and gets disappointed. They felt like cheated. Just like they felt cheated in NO SMOKING, SAAWARIA, LAGA CHUNARI ME DAAG, EKLAVYA and SHIKHAR. Note that all these films came from stalwarts of Bollywood. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Pradeep Sarkar, John matthew Mathhan, Vidhu Binod Chopra, Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra. These are the filmmakers who has proved themselves that they had a potential to change the definition of filmmaking. But just take a glance of their last work.
Though I liked SAAWARIA (thanks to OSO) but audience did not.. I also enjoyed No Smoking but people did not…..The films I didn’t liked are SHIKHAR and LAGA CHUNARI ME DAAG…in spite of that they came from my favorite directors…
When we go to a shop for sweets we prefer the shop where most people use to come. It’s because his sweets are fresh, delicious and most importantly money worthy. It’s the same case when we want to buy a fridge, tv, car or bike… …but that doesn’t stops to open new shops or experiments with sweets…then why the audience feels cheated with films.. Is it because it’s like a dialogue from Sholay..
“Jailor : khota sikka to dono hi taraf se khota hota hai.. and Thakur replies “ sikke aur insaan me shaayd yehi farq hai…” cheezon aur films me shaayad yehi farq hai… Audiences go to watch “SHIKHAR” for SARFAROSH… LCMD for PARINEETA….NO SMOKING for BLACK FRIDAY and of course ..KHOYA KHOYA CHAAND for HKA…Sudhir and Anurag wanted to make a difference as far as filmmaking is concern and they deserve kudos for this. One could argue that their last films has been rejected by the audience but these are not mediocre films for sure .. …they are not doing business at least as the punjabi producer do in KKC…they are creators…they want to explore cinema and I think they should be allowed. Because without experimentation our cinema could not proceed a step ahead and it could only be trapped into the net of Anees Bazmi’s and Neeraj Vora’s gags..and Farah Khan’s delicious items… It’s time to come out of those shits and try to create landmarks. It’s time to look something beyond stories and 5Ws(why,what,when where and who). Of course these filmmakers should consider audience as their prime objective. These filmmakers too should not forget that even Sachin has to perform in the ground otherwise they get cursed by the public. or get warning in nana patekar style…sunao inko kahaani sunaao..sadiyo se inko kahaani sunne ki aadat hai..
The couplet I used as the title of the post is actually :
bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana
humi so gaye kehte kehte fasaana
I know these filmmakers have not slept so I changed the couplet as
bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana
tumhi bhool gaye fasaana.
Sudhir’s film is another movie that falls in the category of Kaghaz ke phool & Mera naam joker Hope they will do the magic next time.

I agree a lot of good movies have been turned down this year by the audience… We (audience) have become one self obsessed King for whom all these moviemakers serve.
It reminds me of a post I had written in my blog after watching KKC.
