After the glitz of Golden Globes, we are now getting to awards that are taken seriously for their quality rather than glitz and regional preferences alone.
Note that the eligibility is Jan1st to Dec 31st in a calender year for all the films released in Britan. So Persipolis may be a carry over and just like This is England got nominated in the Globes this year.
Already creating waves of contreversy is the surprise emission of happy-Go-Lucky which won at Golden Globes. A beautiful film that England should actually be very proud of.

Sometimes we have a single movie making waves, for some reason or other, and generally that movie ends up sweeping all awards. Forrest Gump in 1994, Titanic in 1997 being the best examples. And i guess SDM, is in that category.
Best Actor- Wud back Sean Penn for Milk
Best Actress-Kate Winslet either for RR or Reader
Best Supporting Actor-Heath Ledger for Dark Knight.
Best Actor is definitely Sean Penn for Milk. What a performance man. I have not seen Frost/Nixon so can’t comment on Langella. Mickey Rourke is awesome in The Wrestler, but I feel Penn edges him out in Milk.
SDM is getting unfairly huge adulation. It is good, in fact very good, but is not in the same league of Milk, Wrestler or Revolutionary Road or even Dark Knight for that matter.
I would keep it on the same plane as Benjamin Button, in the “very good but not great” category.
Why is Dark Knight so sidelined??
LOL – nominations for Dev and Freida? They were the weakest link in SDM – not award worthy performances. The young kids were much better.
@Lee
personally reida and dev werent so bad
although the young kids were better
but the guys who play jamal brother in his adolecensce would be the weakest link for me
