Billoo Barber.. Unusual Coming Together…
Which of the following (unusual) pairs sounds most interesting of the three?

The next film of Red Chillies Entertainment titled ‘Billoo Barber’ features all of them together for the first time. (Shahrukh’s guest presence in Krazzy 4 can be ignored)… The film features Irfan Khan in the title role of a Barber while Shahrukh plays a childhood friend of the barber, now a super star.
Who says Priyadarshan is running out of stock (specially of his malayalam “originals” or “original remakes”) for new hindi films. He seems to have remembered the rule “When All Fails, Hunt Mythology for the scripts” as since the inception of Bollywood, mythology has proved to be one of the biggest sources of stories and scripts and Billoo Barber is said to be an adaptation of the famous Krishna Sudama frienship episode.

Billoo Barber is a story based on the relationship between Krishna and his childhood friend Sudama. Priyadarshan is adapting this story of friendship between two friends – one rich and the other a poor villager – in a completely new avatar. Here SRK represents Krishna, he plays an actor. On the other hand Irrfan Khan represents Sudama and plays a village barber. The two are friends from school who grow up and drift until they meet again.�
So finally Irrfan Khan gets a major break in bollywood and and am sure he would not let it go waste.. The two Khans, Shahrukh-Irrfan could share an unusual and interesting onscreen chemistry. Another interesting pairing is Shahrukh and Priyadarshan. Priyan is an interesting choice as a director (could probably due to village background of the film? or something to do with the competition? just guessing…)… This would be the 75th film of Priyan and and it could be a good opportunity for him to come out with something fresh rather than a recycled product.. The real Priyan is missing for quite some time and I hope this one would give him a chance to come out with fresh colors.
As for the leading ladies are concerned, it seems Shahrukh is banking on all his recent onscreen love interests..
As per the report it would be Kareena, Priyanka and Deepika…
SRK will be seen romancing three different ladies including Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. He has already begun shooting with Kareena but is in talks with Deepika and Priyanka.
For the second female lead opposite Irrfan, Priyadarshan is scouting for a powerhouse performer, someone like Smita Patil. According to our source Ameesha Patel and Tabu are being considered for the second lead.
Gulzar saab is finalized as the lyricist.. Though he has penned twice for SRK productions (Paheli and Asoka), it would be his first project with Priyadarshan.. hoping for some real funny and witty lines..
Another interesting aspect of the film is The Barber in the lead.. It is an unusual character to have in the lead when it comes to Hindi films.. Have seen only a couple of times a barber in the lead role.. The two I can remember onhand are Aaj Ka MLA Ramavtaar (Rajesh Khanna) and other one was Zara Si Zindagi (Kamal Hassan)… and Irrfan is surely a good choice..

kathaparayumbol..is the best film came out in malayalam in the recent years…. The climax is amazing.. becs of the tight sript and performance by mammotty….
now this film is coming in tamil as ‘kushelan’ with rajnikanth. In the original mammottys role is a smaal one. But in tamil for rajni they r going to make it a full role !!!!

Just because it is a remake of another Malayalam movie doesn’t mean the Priyadarshan should make it! Does the production house mention anything about katha parayumbol? (Leaving all the inspiration from mythology aside)

Ameesha and tabu in the same breath- Oh my God….Neeraja…. seriously I don’t know whether to laugh or to pass out. BTW the project sounds kinda interesting though more in a scary way.
it’s official then, priyadarshan is altering the katha parayumbol story to expand the superstar’s role to involve at least three songs(with three heroines)?

Billoo barber(katha parayumbol) should have had a sanjeev kumar(barbar) and Dharmendra (superstar) casting with hema playinh the wife of sanjeev, and hrishikesh mukharjee directing.
Gulzar is best doing original screenplays. the smaller his association with this production the better, because I dread where priyan is taking this.

Guzar saab’s debut film Mere Apne is also not an original screen play. He took it from Bengali film of Tapan Sinha. So your hypothesis seems faulty.
Original or remake he is able to convert it in his own colour.
They may have made the movie better, but they didnt do him any credit
Sadma is a film where he took an othervice ordinary screenplay(known more for its music and cinematography…and virtuoso acting in the original tamil, and made it into his own film through the scripting.

You said it! I was just about to mention C420.. The puns were just too good.. and I really miss him as Dialog writer (specifically when even close associates like Meghna and Vishal dont give him opportunity to pen the dialogs)

Sadma is as effective film in Hindi as in original (if not as great).. and are you sure it flopped in Hindi? you have some authentic data?
It was Illayaraja’s (music director)firt hindi film, Im sure it flopped…well reasonably sure..it is a film that was releed two decades ago at least.

4. she mut assciate with aids victis(and NGOs that work with aids victims in india) and other cuses that the bill and melinda gates foundation may hold charity dinners for.

IN the original ….the superstar’s role is a strong character who brings twist to the story and performance oriented. Mammotty done a splendind job in the climax which is the highlight of the film.And it is a small role.Hero of kathaparayumbol is Sreenivasan who done the script also.
WHAT IS SHARUKH KHAN GOING TO DO WITH KAREENA, DEEPIKA, & PRIYANKA. I Think the list will now become big with an item song by Hritik (to balance crazzy 4 dance by SRK), cameo by Akshay kumar (priyans fav)Kajol, rani in 1second appearance, etc…etc
Priyadarshan is the worst copycat in bollywood. He is only changing the artists. Scenes are same as the originals.Dialoges just translating.
Vikram Bhatt, RGV, Sajay Gupta, Mahesh Bhat,Mahesh Manjarekar are Super Copy Cats in Bollywood.They r using some creativity frm them in copiying.

of couse, it is a re-make of Katha Parayumbol? Katha Parayunbol is a nice simple movie people can relate to. it made even grown ups cry. and Mammootty’s acting in the climax was stupendous. the shot was reportedly okayed in one take;try getting ruk ruk Khan to do that!
the remakes will of course be horrible. the Hindi version will have more masala in it and the Tamizh version will have even more masala so that Rajni fans will be happy.i will not see these movies in either Hindi or Tamizh. not after what they did to Manichithrathazhu ( chandramughi in Tamizh and bhool bhulaiya in Hindi)!8-|

as per TOI, Juhi is finalized to play Irrfan’s wife (not Tabu/Amisha).. Also shooting started on 8th in mumbai
It is being acknowledged as a remake of Katha Prayumbol, and the main lead is the barber NOT the superstar. The added twist is that Tabu rejected the role as she is uncomfortable with acting opposite Irrfan. Juhi is now going to play the barber’s wife.
Gulzar rarely disappoints – be it directing, dialogs or lyrics. Just last year’s fare:
