Black Friday-House Full @ Plaza

Plaza Cinema one of the oldest in Mumbai was one of the blast sites in Mumbai. I was out there jostling in the crowd for a ticket. In such single theatres no one buys an advance ticket……good old days and memories brought back. There are some films which should be watched in such halls….no multiplex caramel popcorn for me ……A1- Samosa for Rs.10 any day.
As I stood in the line I messaged Rajkumar that I was here. He called back. He and Anurag were there near Fun
Republic I guess to gauge the response. NDTV and Channel7 vans where there…..probably even they wanted to cash in on the Plaza-BF connection. The crowd was predominantly college going. What was heartening was to see the young groups which on other days I would assume are either on their way to Dhoom-2 or going for their 100th show of DDLJ at Maratha Mandir but they were here at Plaza for Black Friday.
Plaza and 93 brings back memories for every one who was in Mumbai and for those who have seen the blasts. I have. I was in the 9th. We were asked to leave school. As I returned I was at the crossing…Dr. Ambedkar Road…….there was this huge explosion…the traffic came to a halt …all looked out to see a thick brown humongous chunk of smoke formed at a distance. Plaza is a 10 minute walk from my house. I ran home…..mom and dad told me even out window panes rattled…..I told them what I saw…..
As I went in I happened to spot Kiran Shantaram the owner of Plaza Cinema. I asked him about that day and that now the cinema hall is playing host to a film made on the blasts. He recollected with great pain the 6 employees he lost that day…but he was relieved that none of the patrons were injured. He felt it was a film ought to be made and was happy he was showing this.
What happened inside I am sure we all will be reading the review and will be catching it in the cinema halls. All I can say is it was a Full House this Friday….and see this sign board hung there for a while. Breath easy Mr. Kashyap and team…..BF has hit bulls-eye.
Have attached my ticket Rajkmar….there were 900 odd more in there.

Vasan – unakku creativity konjam jaasti da kanna.. that ticket stub was a beautiful touch.
BF is a proud page in the history of Indian cinema. Anurag, Rajkumar – the whole BF team – congratulations! YOU made it possible.
Zee News trying to give “bad publicity”… What are they talking about?
oz, kushal has gone home from internet cafe to prepare for his exams…but, as from what he told me…he says Zee are inciting people with questions like ” Dont you feel this movie shud not have been made for the simple fact that you do not want to re-live your horrors”
” Why would i want to view a movie that reminds me of my terrible past, when we know how mumbaikers are known to move-on” etc
looks like BF is the only film in recent times to have got ***** reviews from almost all reviewers. Anurag – how many calls did you already get from distributors regarding Paanch?
The upshot is an exhaustive, exhausting, often moving thrillerUN:F [1.7.5_995]

Yeah Anurag, how many distributors queuing up for Paanch now?
To the distributors – “who’s the king now bitch!” :d
Watched it at NYC last night, movie hall was >60%, laughter sometimes, couple of shrieks and finally silence.
