    @wb
    guess we will have to wait for some enterprising indian with a camera to be cast as an extra in a hollywood film for that. hope we dont have to wait that long. revenge is coming, be wary wild wild west.

    PS: oops! my friend just informed me. the craze for casting foreigners has still not caught up with hollywood. :)

    wb, extras are treated very, VERY well in hollywood. i’ve done a couple of projects as an extra for network television and shoot started right when we were told it would. food was gourmet and also took into account vegetarians in the group. two PAs were in charge of extras, and during downtime the entire group became a family, including the PAs. not to mention some of us were paid a full day’s worth of work even though we were let off an hour early than scheduled. for actors, extra work is like a networking party. i came out of one of the shoots with an audition in hand, for which i later bagged the role (the play i had talked about)! talk about priceless.

    i may be doing some extra work on “law abiding citizen” *ing jamie foxx and gerard butler soon, which will be shooting in philadelphia.. will revert with a report on that.

    However opinionated the news report might seem, you cannot deny that the extras were treated in a very unprofessional manner.

    i’m just wondering if this is how most extras get treated in most bollywood projects? anyone care to shed light on this?

    btw, the extras who were rightfully pissed off still got a much better deal than the poor desi audience that paid to watch this piece of trash.

    thanks striker. the guy threatening to break the camera was the lowest point. who are these guys, the extra suppliers? if i am not wrong, the task is mostly an outsourced one – where the producer/ director says to the extra suppliers “get me 50 phoren looking guys, gals” and these supplier guys then send out their touts to poach the tourists and bring them in. the guy on the camera must be the one responsible for *managing* this particular crowd.
