Booked for Comic-Con?

A little late on this, but nevertheless, Comic-Con happens from July 24 to July 27. Originally started in 1970 as a convention in San Diego for fans of comic books, it has become a huge huge force to reckon with. Today major production houses participate in the convention lifting the veil off their forthcoming movies. It is one helluva exciting trip. More on Comic-Con on Wiki and here’ the Comic-Con website.

Definitely one of the coolest underground geek events of the year. Comic Con is now many fold – NY, LA, Philly,Chicago(Wizard World) & the grand finale at San Diego to be followed up by another WW in Texas. I attended Wizard World which took place from June 26th-29th. It premiered Batman Gotham Knight apart from showcasing Wanted, Hulk, The Spirit. attended the panels for DC Universe, adult swim, Marvel etc.
Even if you are not much of a ‘comic geek’, definitely go there to watch them. They are fun. or you can always pick up cool stuff like special edition toys, golden age comic books for cheap, artist signing booths, watch sketchers, inkers and artists create magic live in front of your eyes, talk to them, or simply enjoy the many superheroes walking around like they don’t care. San Diego might be closed on booking, need to check with a friend who is a regular there.

have you guys read Virgin comics(Richard Branson) new titles? Ramayan etc…pretty good artwork….They had a good presence at NY comic con this year…probably trying to do something like anime with all Indian mythology characters….Also Stan Lee is suppossed to join them into developing new stories/chracters..

yes, the artwork is the only savior. and certainly will grab all the mysticism-craving eyeballs. but nothing like a good ol’ simple batman for me. “indian mythology redefined for the next generation” might sound like a nice pitch though. and i was pretty optimistic when we saw the storm coming last year..

but now its overload overdrive and all that stands for mad excess. I am happier with all the DC Marvel vintage stuff hitting the stands in India simultaneously. nothing like it. but with comic books you never know where the wind turns, so still not given up on the possibilities, may Mr. Kapoor/Sir Branson/Mr. Chopra strike gold where they least expect.
I got linked to this blog from technorati when I was looking for some San Diego Comic Con news, and I just wanted to point out the fallacy of Tushar’s above post. First off, I don’t know if you work for Wizard or are just misinformed, but SDCC has nothing to do with the Wizard World Cons. SDCC is a non profit organization that started over 30 years ago, while Wizard runs their conventions for pure profit. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but they have tried some underhanded tactics in the past to try to take away business from other regional Cons, and tried in vain to gain a monopoly on the convention going circuit.
To try and link Wizard World to San Diego Comic Con is a huge disgrace to SDCC.

ravenwood, first off, sorry to be misinformed. And thanks for the correction. I just shared a low on current affairs fans views. The commercial motives aside, any comic event would appeal to me. I understand and respect your concern about what might happened regarding the two bodies/events and hence would have caused your concern at this.
everyone, check out Day One’s events..
Panel – Crank, The Game
PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, SAW 5, KNOWING, TWILIGHT, ROCKNROLLA, NINJA ASSASSIN and LOST BOYS 2 plus much more
