Box Office report for this week
Billu(Barber/hairstylist) hasnt opened to huge response, which was a bit expected. I personally feel, the days of showing trailers of item songs has long gone( Thank God!). Not sure what the budget for Billu was, but it has opened to a decent start, far less than expected.

The break up doesn’t mentoin Dev.D’s collections in Bangalore. It should be huge. In the second weekend, I saw even bigger crowds than the first weekend. I saw a lot of repeat audience too. The other surprising figure is Calcutta. Anandabazar gave a big thumbs up review to Dev.D. Even for No Smoking Anandabazar had given an outrageously positive review completely opposite to the review trend at that time. I wonder why it made so less there. Did it not release in all the multiplexes?
Or less number of people read Anandabazar in Bengal now?
I guess anadbazar is read by mostly bengalis who can read bengali unlike me, and as there are two good bengali movies running – Kaalbela and Antaheen maybe i guess people skipped it
Also, now-a-days, IBNLive and NDTV etc are so dominant and penetrative, they end up shaping a huge mass of public opinion and perception. That might as well be the case.
This is interesting considering the fact that Dev D got a not so positive response from The Telegraph in Pratim’s review…in fact Pratim’s review was a bit sketchy in my mind…
Today’s 8 o clock show ( where I have booked ) of Dilli 6 is full. I think it will get a good collection overseas. Hope India does well
