Casino Royale is Paisa Vasool!

I hated James Bond – When people like Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan played him that is. And then I found the Connery films. Here was a man who did true justice to Ian Fleming’s suave spy. It’s taken decades, but the mantle has finally been passed on to a worthy successor. Daniel Craig is no Connery, but he makes a kickass Bond.

Unlike the previous Bond flicks, “Casino Royale” is heavier on story and character than action. Of course Craig pulls off some killer stunts, chases, and explosions, but the 2.5 hour running time of the film could certainly use an extra dose of adrenaline. Yet, the film keeps you glued and helps you sink in to Bond’s character.

The film begins as James Bond has just been recruited as a “00″. He’s brash and fearless, but also vulnerable. He discovers love along with many characteristics that have become synonymous with the character over years. Craig emotes a side of Bond seldom seen, one that explains how he came to be the womanizing, martini sipping, cold-hearted but stylish spy that he is. Eva Green may not be the conventional Bond girl, but certainly one of most intriguing, given her brilliant characterization. The deeply passionate Bond-Vesper Lynd relationship forms the crux of the story.

“Casino Royale” is a timepass, paisa vasool experience, and ends on an open note with many questions remaining to be answered. Craig will return as Bond in “Bond 22″ and certainly for many more installments following that one.

just got back from watching this.. the best way to describe this would be that it’s the “batman begins” of james bond. this one’s all about the character development.. unfortunately when you step into “that” territory, you’re pretty much subjecting yourself to about 15-20mins of sappy romance, which is not the bond you’re used to. but you HAVE to keep in mind that this is the beginning of bond, and as long as that you have that squared away with yourself, then as vijay puts it, it’ll explain “how he came to be the womanizing, martini sipping, cold-hearted but stylish spy that he is.”

felt as though the film could’ve been about 15mins shorter, but still a great watch! craig fits the role to the T. the action sequences are extremely well executed, and the women are.. well.. the women. adequate. looking forward to more from craig and the bond camp.

I saw this movie last night, and i think its one of the good movies i saw this year after The Departed.Daniel craig is the latest bond and he does proper justice to the role, Judi dench is as always perfect for the role of “M”. All the action sequences in this movie very very good.

The movie starts by showing how bond get his 007 status and then how he blows up an embassay. The very first action scene is good in parts but it looks more like circus jumping. After initial 15-20 mins movie picks up its pace from there it grows on you. I wish the final 30-45 mins can be trimmed to 15-20 but other than that it’s a very good movie.

There are some very good dialogues like Eva green(Lynd-Eva’s character) says to bond

    Lynd: “I’m your Money”
Bond: “Worth evry penny of it”

    another one

Lynd: “I guess you like killing people, Don’t
    you?”

Bond: “Well, I wouldn’t be good at my job if i
    didnt like it”

    Plotline

Casino Royale introduces James Bond before he holds his license to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous, and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to ‘00′ status. Bond’s first 007 mission takes him to Madagascar where he is to spy on a terrorist, Mollaka. Not everything goes to plan and Bond decides to investigate, independently of MI6, in order to track down the rest of the terrorist cell. Following a lead to the Bahamas, he encounters Dimitrios and his girlfriend, Solange. He learns that Dimitrios is involved with Le Chiffre, banker to the world’s terrorist organizations. Secret Service intelligence reveals that Le Chiffre is planning to raise money in a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro at Le Casino Royale. MI6 assigns 007 to play against him, knowing that if Le Chiffre loses, it will destroy his organization. ‘M’ places Bond under the watchful eye of the beguiling Vesper Lynd. At first skeptical of what value Vesper can provide, Bond’s interest in her deepens as they brave danger together and even torture at the hands of Le Chiffre. In Montenegro, Bond allies himself with Mathis MI6’s local field agent, and Felix Leiter who is representing the interests of the CIA. The marathon game proceeds with dirty tricks and violence, raising the stakes beyond blood money and reaching a terrifying climax.
