Christina Marouda : Carrying the Indian Flag in Hollywood - A video conversation
Christina Marouda, President of IFFLA is the brains behind the annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. Having completed 5 years, IFFLA, as we saw it has been growing by leaps and bounds, bringing to the world priceless gems from the Indian cine scene.
IFFLA has become an upcoming junction for anything cinema, anything Indian. Distributors, producers, directors, Indian movie buff (most of them non-Indians), the business community. Yet, there is much more to come.
All this flurry of activity was quite intriguing and I had to have Christina come out from behind the curtains from where she is quite content in running the IFFLA team - over a hundred volunteers who drop everything in hand to make IFFLA happen each year, every year.
In her words “the flag is getting heavier and heavier with each passing year”… which it is… what with tragically not many from the Indian business community in the US coming out to support IFFLA. Yet she has single handedly managed to take this major event from one year to the next.
here’s Saurabh Dixit’s video coverage of my interview with IFFLA. Thanks to Saurabh and his camera, without him, this interview would not have been possible. And thanks to my PFC gang who hovered around within 10 feet of the interview ensuring no one barged in till we completed the interview.

When did this happen? This is an amzing interview. Christina….their cannot be many like Christina…amazingly focussed woman. It is such a pleasure to know how IFFLA started and how and what Christina had to go through to be where IFFLA is today. Salute…Salute…
You can see she getting very emotional quite a few times in the interview…very understandable.
Such a shame that not a large part of Indian Community supports art. Didnt know how to react when Christina got reactions like ” Ohh Hindi films = Bollywood…why does Bollywood need movies”
If i may…talk for everyone on PFC….Christina and IFFLA…if there is any which way PFC would be of any help to IFFLA….it would be our honor.
Awesome job oz bhai…..very well shot Saurabh….
Thanks a ton Christina for IFFLA….If i am in LA next i will surely attend…if i am not..i still will.

Is she an Indian ?
No CC. She’s from Greece.
Hi OZ,
