Clash of the Titans posterWestern world has largely been influenced by the Greek and Roman mythology but Hollywood has mostly ignored the adaptation of mythological stories into movies. They are few and far between. This is a remake of the 1981 namesake classic. The success of this movie may prompt Hollywood to adapt more mythological tales and open a whole new frontier of mythological movies as we already have Tarsem Singh’s War of Gods next in the pipeline.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, this movie stars Sam Worthington, Alexa Davalos, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Gemma Arterton.

  2. I personally would want Hollywood to wait before adapting these things, as anything made right now is just going to be a CGI blowout.

Why? CGI is here to stay. With further development in Technology they will be getting better and better. May be it is the future. Jack Snyder used it effectively in 300. Peter Jackson exploited it in LOTR saga. Watch out for the coming Avatar which is so much hyped because of these elements.

      • I like CGI, but there needs to be more to a movie. So, it will be good to see movies that use CGI rather than act as vehicles for it. The examples you point out are the things that give me hope that Hollywood will outgrow this in time.

  3. I loved the 1981 version, the stop motion animation effects by Ray Harryhausen were awesome.

It is remembered as classic because of Ray Harryhausen. It was his last work. People addicted to new technology will find it’s visuals pretty cheesy but many people who are not a big fan of CGI love it for that matter.
The mechanical owl Bubo was cheesy yet fun but perhaps they are leaving it out of the remake, for good.

      • Somehow i do like Stop Motion, Burton used it to great effect in Nightmare Before Christmas, has a kinda old world, cheesy feeling. Ray Harryhausen is of course the One when it comes to Stop Motion.
