Dil, Gira kahin par.. daffatan
My heart did sank/drop.. unexpectedly, when I first saw the Masakali promo. I didn’t have any expectation about soundtrack, but I knew A R Rahman would go one better than previous. He always does. That is only expectation I have from an A R Rahman’s soundtrack. And the promo did came out from no where; it was unexpected.
First, it was beauty of the song, that just astounded me. I so badly wanted that song before any consumers got it. I wanted to be the first one of having that song. You know, some people queue up – outside the shop – for weeks to buy the latest version of play-station or for star-wars, and I would have done same to buy this song! I don’t think I was the only one who felt like that after watching the promo. Mohit Chauhan should get all the credit for this song! Anyway, now the song is all over the net, the soundtrack is out… but it is a song that I still thirst for.
Aye masakali masakali,
Udd matak kali matak kali
Zara pankh jhatak, gayi dhool atak,
Aur lachak machak ke doore bhatak,
Udde dagar dagar, kasbe kuche,
Nukkad basti mein..yeahh yeahhh,
Itdi se mudd, ada se udd,
Kar le puri dil ki tamanna,
awa se jud, ada se udd,
Phurr phurr phurr,
Tu hai heera panna re
Then, they brilliantly shot the promo to compliment the song. Filthy Delhi. Woh Nukad. Woh Chhaatth. Woh Jalebiyas. And. Woh Chaal. Woh Andaz. Woh Nakhra. My heart sank further and further… I became a fan of her. I haven’t seen any of her films yet, but she is my favorite actress now. She has taken Ayesha Takia’s place. It only takes one promo, and now Ayesha has disappeared in some wilderness. So someone had to…
Behka mein behka,
Wo behki hawa si aayi,
Ek hi nazar mein sab,
Manzil wanzil paayi,
Hatke alag si thi,
Bilkul juda si, yeahhh
Naa hi adaayein, naa koi angdaayi,
Behka behka mein behka behka,
Mehka mehka yeh mann hai
mehka,
Behka mein behka
Yesterday I saw her in Indian Idol. Before that I had not come across her in any shows or had not seen any of her interviews, so was looking forward to see what kind of personality she would have. I was very impressed. She is naturally beautifully, innocent, likes having a laugh, careless, clumsy… is just herself. She didn’t try to be over-smart, no typical actress dramabazi, no starbazi. She was just herself. And I like that.
I am looking forward to Delhi 6 for three reasons: 1) A R Rahman’s Soundtrack, 2) I liked Rang De Basanti and Delhi 6 seems like a follow up of Rang De Basanti, and 3) Sonam Kapoor.
I personally feel she has got a good role in this film. Perhaps not special but at least a pivotal role. But it could be something like Geet of Jab We Met, Kalpana of Ghajini, or Aditi of Socha Na Tha. Those all three characters were good but Aditi was the best by far. The other two were a bit superficial. I just hope her character is as good as Aditi and her acting is as good as Ayesha Takia.
Mere sirf ek hee arzi hain Maula Se. I hope she doesn’t disappoint with her acting in the film… warna saab popat ho jayegga, I already have made her my favorite actress. After watching Sonam Kapoor in Delhi 6, I would not want to sing this song…
Zindagi Zindagi, kya kami reh gayi?
Aankh ki kor mein…
Aankh ki kor mein, kyon nami reh gayi?
Zindagi Zindagi, kya kami reh gayi?
Aankh ki kor mein, kyon nami reh gayi?
Tu kahan kho gayi?
Tu kahan kho gayi?
Koi aaya nahin
Do-peher ho gayi
Koi aaya nahin
Zindagi Zindagi
I will rather prefer…
Rehna Tu
Hai Jaisa TU
Dheema Dheema jhonka
Ya phir junoon
Thoda sa reshma
Tu humdam
Thoda sa khurdura
Kabhi to ad jaye
Ya lad jaye
Ya khushboo se bhara
Tujhe badalna na chahoon
Rati bhar bhi sanam
Bina sajawat milawat
Na jyaada na hi kaam

Yea very good music by AR….I am looking frw for this movie
whatever u have said about sonam kapoor…is rite..she is one simple and beautiful actress…i want to watch delhi6 for sonam kapoor…
It’s ok for u lucky souls who have access to the net with a proper device (a computer).
Arre, hum toh ab bhi mobile net se kaam chala rahein hain Honhaar babu!
I am literally fed up of going to different shops and not finding ‘Delhi 6′!
No chance for ‘Connections’ then!
Anyway, yup Sonam has a likeable quality, and was pretty good in her 1st movie (i’ve erased the name, was THAT bad!) but she’s been ignored whilst mediocrity king Ranbir has become a craze!
I defo liked her more than him in ‘that’ film!
Steve, Delhi 6 soundtrack is releasing next week in UK, apparently!
Yeah, thanks yaar, that’s what my ‘jhootha kahin ka’ supplier keeps tellin’ me!
But, to be very honest, ‘Dev.D’ refuses to leave my cd player!
Again, it wasn’t available ere.
A good friend sent it to me from London.
Chalo, let’s see.
I’ll go and hijack my mates computer 2moro to get back on track :-)
Isn’t it “kabhi tu ad jaaye” rather than “daud jaaye”? ARR pronounces it a little awkwardly, isliye samajh naheen aata ki kya hai exactly! But the lyrics on the CD cover says “kabhi to ad jaaye”.
The best track is Dil gira kahin par..dafatan..the sound and the aura that ARR creates for the singer is unbeatable..and then the lyrics..flawless..it is like a simple poem sung to an alaap…anybody can hum it..so simple yet so heart wrenching..Ash King rocks with that voice of his..clear, distinct and young..ARR must have scoured all over the globe to get the voice..no wonder the music took two years to complete
After long long time one Rahman Album a disillusioned rahman fan like myself can not sneer at.
In my opinion a long time after only you (from ma Tujhe Salaam) and Piya Haji Ali, “Arjiyaan” comes as spiritual as Rahman ever been. The song has become part of my prayer… “Marammat Mukaddar Ka Kar Do o Maula”…man, I listen to it everyday.
And “Dilli Hain Mere Yaar”…you bet it’s gonna be next Pathsalaa.
Goonda ji in full mood :-)
really awesome music my fav is arziyan
Ash King doesn’t know Hindi! Sounds unbelievable but is true. This is what the Rahman article on Tehelka said:
”he [Rahman] got R&B singer Ash King from the bylanes of London to sing Dil Gira Dafatan for the forthcoming film, Dilli 6, although King didn’t know a word of Hindi, just because he liked the texture of his voice”
Sonam kapoor is justtttttt soo simple you just cant stop admiring her natural beauty…that is what that distinguishes from so called crazily followed mobs fav deepika and many others we ses around…for me Sonam’s the Perfect Female…
nicely put in words man..
im spellbound with her smile..her smile reminds me of an old friend of mine, with whom i’m so madly in love( one sided ofcourse
) with for the last 6 years. .n now she is gone :(
sonam is sooooooooooooooooo beautiful
Then you must watch ‘Saawariya’ – I think there are only two categories of people who have watched the film – those who hated it, and those who loved it but were too overwhelmed by the former group to say it. Watch it with an open mind – the whole movie is art on film, with great music and fresh innocent acting – who knows you might discover another movie you love.
@Vvek, I loved it man!
I personally feel Delli 6 would be a FLOP movie.. Just a gut feeling..
Wah… kya roomani andaaz mein likha hai! ;)
@Vivek: Saawariya for me was potential gone waste, and quite terribly at that. Awfully written film, in fact Sonam’s character was one of the most interesting things in it, but the complexities and possibilities of Sakina weren’t brought out well IMO.
@Jahan: There are movies that have a great script – everyone who reads or watches it will definitely like it (to varying degrees of exultation) – the Dark Knight for example. Saawariya was different- it was purely a visual and musical experience. If one could get the screenplay almost everyone would agree that its, yes, awful, but the magic was on screen. Its like how your perfectly normal and interesting friend has a crush on a girl you think is crass. This was why Saawariya flopped -the extreme subjectivity in its appreciation. Deduct music and art direction for your fav hindi movies and you still have great films – Saawariya minus its sets, lighting and music is nothing. Don’t try to analyse the script – only your friend knows what he feels when he sees that gal!
Yeh ‘Saawariya’ kahan se aageyi man?!
Anyways, BRILLIANT album H.G!
Loving it!
‘Rehna Tu’? Vintage Rahman!
Fan-Bloody-Tastic!
