Don’t worry feel happy! TA RA Rum pum

“Don’t worry be happy”, this is the tagline of the movie according to imdb. I never really got a chance to see the posters, got released today and I was there for the first day last show, thanks to one of my very close friend. So there I was… watching one more classic from Yash Raj and a film by “Siddharth Anand”.
And now I am sitting at my home, with my scotch, wondering ..is there anything else better I could have done on my last evening in LA?. Well I am moving to SFO tomorrow and I have to drive freaking 400 miles in the morning. Okay… so coming back to movie; couldn’t impress me, didnt even like it and I am not sure why am I writing my first film review on PFC for a film like ‘TA RA Rum Pum’.
There is only one thing I would really like to mention about the movie. The stunts, the crashes. Very well executed, great timing, great cinematography and most of all ‘Original’. Yash Raj surely have put in a lot of money there. I mean the whole NSACAR affair is expensive. Good job there.
I also learnt quite a few facts about the Nascar. First, there is no pole positions in Nascar. Even if you are a world champ or a beginner, minimum you get is the second row. Second, its only about the driver, he does it all for you. Very random gear shift and you are through, no bloody son of bitch can catch you even though he has better car than you. Third, you dont need bloody experience to enter into Nascar. You throw a 10 grand on the face of the federation and you are in. Seriously… no background required for the crew, no experience whatsoever and they emerge as Heroes. I am thinking of a profession change here. Oz bhai, I think we should chip in 10k and start a PFC team for Nascar, I or somebody else can drive at 120-140 mph, big deal or at least I can become worlds fastest ‘Tire changer’.
When you make a fultoo Masala movie, you want audience to laugh and have fun. But why Indian directors gives a chance to the audience to laugh at them. I am talking about some serious stuff. The main opponent ‘RUSTY’, his car is always right next to Saif’s car. I mean every time when those two are in the race. Once, twice and finally for the third time. I mean don’t you think. Then comes the crew, the team manager only tells him ..go biggy boy get him…go go go .. and few times for a change.. “abe pit main aaja nahi to tire phat jayega”(Come to pit lane otherwise your tires will be blown away). I just lighted a third cigarette, two are already there in the tray.
I love Yash Raj. Everytime they have the right Formula. Show Indian audience what they have never scene in a Bollywood movie and it works. New look, new feel. Correct and musical formula for the leads to meet in the film, a happy family, and very very very sensible kids considering their age. Everything is right at its place and yes, one khadoos Baap. The movie had its moments, people even clapped on few scenes when I was trying to figure out things. They must have spent millions to make it and I am sure they will get everything out of it and everyone knows where the huge profit goes. you dont know…huh..in making more movie like this.
It also reminded me some of the movies from Hollywood like ‘Taxi’, ‘Days of Thunder’ and ‘Cinderella Man’.
I dont even feel its worth discussing on the PFC. But again, its just my opinion.

You can bet your last dime, I ain’t watching this crap. Never intended to never want to.
Unfortunately, my wife isn’t like me in this respect; so, I’ll have to watch it…
I have been traveling so no movies for me, but I probably would have been with the masses flocking to see this movie last night were I around. Because, Hollywood and Bollywood are in their spring doldrums and what else opened this weekend?
This is one formula to make money on a film, even a bad film. Open on a slow weekend.
That said, if you have ever driven with me, you know that my Honda Civic has seen the far side of 120 mph, so I volunteer to drive if the PFC NASCAR team ever develops.
And, you should write more reviews, I enjoyed this one…
Can someone please translate Ta Ra Rum Pum for me?
One of the guys I went to college with, Ken Mckenzie, was making a PSA on how the affects of drug addiction on the families. It was a stark, awkward, uncomfortable film to watch.
After the screening we sat in the college pub and he said something I won’t forget. “Never pass on the chance to give your audience a reality check”.
Too bad Siddharth Raj Anand and Adi Chopra never met my buddy Ken (who also innovated the “high angle low cut” shot (low cut referring to dresses, of course). “You should see her shoes…”
Ok, what does this have to do with Tara Rum Pum?
See, once again in my optimistic delusion, I thought that maybe this could give YRF a chance to truly give the audiences something different.
I thought the whole angle about Saif being broke and unable to drive well, having not saved a penny, having no education or skill to fall back on, with a wife and 2 kids, MAY have resulted in some scenes where the family must face some harsh realities.
We’d see the family struggle, and realize there’s more to life than wearing good clothes and being in nice places.
A failed car racer who was too arrogant to save up money, thinking his high was gonna last forever. And then he literally CRASHES AND BURNS!
You know I actually said to a friend “They couldn’t candyfloss that”… I gotta go slap myself.
:-?
Ta Ra Rum Pum = Cocka-doodle-do
OM =)) =))
another pass for me… way too many others i could spend my time watching.. i still haven’t seen grindhouse!! arghhhhhh :((

Khalid reviews
Guys…Tara Rum Pum is a good movie…its is no CLASSIC….but much better that the regular Yash Chopra crap. Some parts of the movie drag, but overall its fun. Saif was cool, Rani was decent (in the first half, her hairstyle and her dressing sucked) and Javed Jaffrey was fantastic. Kids were good too. The songs didn’t sound impressive at all when I heard them, but in the movie they were good.
Overall, I’d say ‘A nice time pass movie’.
Saurav Drive carefully!
