After the extremely successful Louis Malle film festival, NDTV Lumiere and Alliance Francaise of Madras bring to you ‘EXPERIENCE THRILLERS’, a five day film festival showcasing films that will certainly give you the shrills, thrills and much much more….!

Presented by Roca in association with the New Ford Fiesta, Experience Thrillers will be held from 5-9th August at the Alliance Francaise of Madras auditorium.

The festival has been kept free and open to all. There would be two shows every day at 7 & 9 pm.

Experience Thrillers kicks off with ‘The Orphanage’ – a spine chilling thriller and Spain’s official entry for the 2008 Academy Awards. Directed by the award winning young film-maker Juan Antonio Bayona and produced by the renowned Guillermo Del Toro, this thriller stars Spanish actress Belèn Rueda and Geraldine Chaplin (the grand-daughter of Charlie Chaplin).
The second day features the musical thriller, ‘The Page Turner’. Following that is Claude Lelouch’s crafty and twisting tale, ‘Crossed Tracks’.
King of the Hill’ and ‘Shiver’ will be the final films playing over the weekend.

5th AugustThe Orphanage
the orphanageWhen Laura returns to the orphanage where she spent her childhood, she is troubled by the changes in her 7-year-old son Simon, and her own long-forgotten memories. Simon’s innocent games take on a sinister edge in this finely-crafted thriller, where something is lurking below the surface.

6th AugustThe Page Turner
the page turnerA chilling, precise revenge thriller about a young woman’s obsessive desire to confront a defining moment from her past. As a young girl, Mélanie’s ambitions as a concert performer were dashed by famous pianist Madame Fouchécourt. Ten years later, Mélanie sets up an elaborate plan for revenge and begins to ingratiate herself into Madame Fouchécourt’s family. Mélanie becomes her trusted “page turner” as both women prepare for the performance of a lifetime.

7th AugustCrossed Tracks
crossed tracksWealthy, best-selling crime novelist Judith Ralitzer is being questioned by police for murder. A serial killer, known as “The Magician”, is on the run. Meanwhile a mysterious man, Pierre, picks up Huguette, a young hairdresser who was left on the side of the road following an argument with her boyfriend. Pierre charms Huguette by performing magic tricks, and agrees to pretend to be her fiancé in front of her parents and daughter…. but Pierre is hiding deep, dark secrets.

8th AugustKing Of The Hill
king of the hillAcclaimed Spanish filmmaker Gonzalo López-Gallego, in his third directorial feature, keeps the audience guessing in King Of The Hill. Quím takes a ride up to his girlfriend’s village, but a stop-over at a gas station proves to be dangerous as Bea, a mysterious woman, steals his wallet and leads him into desolate woods where danger awaits him.

9th AugustShiver
shiverSanti, a lonely teen, moves to an isolated mountain village with his mother. Santi witnesses a boy’s death but soon becomes the prime suspect in the eyes of the villagers. The only way to prove his innocence is to discover a terrible secret hidden in the woods. Award-winning director Isidro Ortiz creates a pyrotechnic blend of horror and coming-of-age drama. Shiver screened at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival.

    1. do all the 5 films get screened twice a day i.e @ 7 & 9 p.m?
    2. heard there is a premiere for the festival tomorrow ( 4th aug ) which is by invite only.so is it possible to get a couple of invites for the same?

    yes, all the 5 films will get screened twice a day; there would be a new film everyday!

    Hi Shamath, i did manage to see “the orphanage” at Bangalore a few months back.. a brilliant movie, kept me at the edge of the seat for the entire duration of the film. was disheartened to know that though it was the official entry to the Oscars, it didn’t manage to win anything..

    nevertheless, it’s worth a watch again.. hoping to catch The orphanage.

    where’s the venue located – need the address/landmark?

  5. I watched Orphanage but found it hardly scary or thriller. Very poor film. Not sure why is there a big hype for Orphanage.

  8. I enjoyed The Orphanage last night.Will hopefully try to see some of the other films too.But why is it that there was no representative from NDTV Lumiere during the screening?
