Four different ones

Maharathi (based on the Paresh Rawal directed highly successful play of the 80s), Dil Kabaddi, Meerabai Not Out and Oh My God. Four films not of the regular commercial kind. A very different Friday. Which one are you going for?

First choice would be Maharathi- Love the starcast.

Dil Kabbadi- Good starcast, even promos look good.

Oh My God- Looks interesting with both Vinay Pathak and Saurabh Shukla.

Meerabai Not Out- I am out, barring Iqbal, most of the movies with cricket background have been terrible. Gimme Star Sports, ESPN or Neo Cricket any day.
    :).

I was waiting for Burn After Reading to release in India, but it seems that Bangaloreans will have to wait a little longer. Not interested in any of the other releases. Will catch up BIG LEBOWSKI on dvd instead

Maharathi - Looks boring from the promos. I mean, when do we start believing in our product and promote it accordingly? Why does a thriller need an item song for promotion? If that is the standard of creativity we have for promos, I am ready with my thumbs down. NOT GOING, purely as a protest against stupid promos. (Sorry Shivam if that is your producer’s idea.)

Oh My God - Looks ok…not great. May be because we see only two characters and am not a great fan of farces. Still…if there’s a film this week which looks interesting, it is this.

Dil Kabaddi - Smells strongly of the (now-stale) husband-wife-infidelity stories done in all hues and ambitions over the last few years. Plus, the promos don’t look as intelligent/witty as a film of this genre should be.

Meerabai - I think we have already felt enough bad for Kumble after his retirement…to have him in a film with Mandy and to see (yet again) badly shot cricketing sequences in a Hindi film would be expecting too much from cricket fans. And then, I have made it a rule to not go for any film that promotes itself with an Item song/video. (Which is different from an in-film tamaasha song like OSO had…six of them. :P)
