I really don’t understand, should I feel happy or sad for Shivaji? I read his previous blog where I could see his urge for his film to get released in theaters. Films are made to be seen on big screen and here shivaji’s much talked film is releasing on DVD without getting released in theaters. Every Friday we see crap films of Bollywood and Hollywood released in theaters across the world and film like Frozen which got 22 international awards (I hope I am writing correct number) fails to get theater release. This is irony. Wish you good luck for your next film Shivaji.

@Valay
“Frozen” was released with 3 prints on 8th of May 2009. It has seen a release in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. It was covered by other bloggers here in PFC with their likes and dislikes.
Yeah we had our own issues with Shringar Films regarding the show timings etc…
I am sorry that you missed it.
22 international and 2 national awards.
Nonetheless thank you for your good wishes.

I don’t know may be you are happy with this kind of release. But as a cinema lover (and film maker) I am not happy with this kind of release. There is audience for this kind of films but a problem is that people who run this industry are cinema illiterate and they can’t see beyond stereotypical films.
Look at the percentage of failure of so called commercial cinema. It is almost 90%. But still these producers don’t learn. I don’t know what make them produce films like Blue, Dil Bole Haddippa and there are so many. Even with the promising star cast these films failed to pull the crowd to the theaters. But still they will keep on producing these crap films. I think we should protest against this. For how long these kinds of films will limit to film festival audience? And for how long we should happy for awards. We have to reach to common audience and try to change his taste of cinema. I am sure even the audiences are getting fed up with so this commercial cinema.
BTW I hve seen your ilm in Pune. Thats why I was more concern about your film.But when I went agin to show the film to my friends it was not there anymore.
Anyway looking forward to see you film(again) on DVD. I hope I will get it in Pune.

@Valay
I appreciate your concern and believe me I can only do what I can do. I am no longer into blaming any one for anything. We as film makers can just keep making cinema which we believe in. Also the very fact that the film came out both in theater and as DVD now is a victory for me as a completely independent film maker.
Yes after 30th November the DVD will be available in Landmark, Crossword, Planet M, Music world, Granth, Rhythm House all across India. Presently it is available at Landmark, Infinity Mall, Mumbai.

Awesome! Great to hear the DVD is out. I am normally very selective in buying a DVD for my collection and never buy a film I have not seen since I may not like the film and would be stuck with the DVD. However, having read about Frozen so much here on PFC and to pay homage to the sheer daredevilry of those 75 people for the sake of art, I will buy the DVD on my next India trip. The B&W photography of the ice may also have had something to do with my decision
