Me feels its a tad too intense. It’s like saying “Look at me, how intense and different i am”.
Man! is that body morphed or for real..? Looks amazing.. If real, kudos to Aamir. I think it’s right, It must be intense, however, along with anger, his face should also show frustration and despair. If he had simply smiled, it might have looked liked the guy in the Onida Ad.
WTF, how did he get such a built?
I loved the look, a very lean and mean look.
Means Business
The posture, the muscles around the collar bone, the expression reminds one of the Incredible Hunk.
The body art screams “Memento”. However in the film, Guy Pearce played confused…here Aamir is shown as angry.
Any idea if Aamir is acknowledging Memento as the orignal work (I know he has bought the rights from down South…)??
Dhananjay as per what i heard, while he does acknowledged Memento’s source, he feels its not such a great movie,anyway thats his opinion.
Dude!! Its about time that we folks at the Indian film industry (won’t call it Bollywood, as it hurts the sentiments of certain people) get a life. Aamir is great but its not that everything he does will b a classic. Who ever has seen Memento will simply laugh with tears in the eyes at this look and this film. too Intense? Over the top? weird? Constipated? I think all the above. Jahan jaan and OZ cant wait to read ur comments.
over the top…..there was no need for the Hunk type look…..a lean and toned body would have been sufficient…..anyways it’s Aamir so it’s bound to be over the top.
I wonder how many bottles of steroid he tanked to get that look…
(It’s like saying- “Look at me, how intense and different i am”)
That’s something you find in all Aamir’s performances these days…
Too over the top. “Kalpana was killed” is so obvious from just 1 look at it. The way Memento introduced a similar phrase (forget the exact phrase right now) in such a subtle manner was so nice.
The Tamil Ghazini was not a very great movie, but Surya’s look is far better than this. It was not so loud and screaming.
Regarding Tamil original, i liked Surya’s performance in the movie, and Asin was fine. But Nayantara’s medical student role was sheer unintentional hilarity.
Anyway i guess Aamir is gonna post this at his blog, and you are gonna have 200 odd comments, all gushing in praise. Enjoy maadi
Puneet, if you don’t mind, I feel a little uncomfortable being called jahan jaan, esp by a guy… :0 :p
A guy suffering from short term memory loss and total failure of memory persistence can look like this? With this kind of body? It might be an achievement in fitness and body building, but it’s utter rubbish in the cinematic situation. His face resembles a bat’s.
Ah!!! There he goes.. That dolle-sholle doesn’t suit him. As Vineet said a lean and toned would have been fine. And Ratnakar u said 200? Lolz, nothing less than 1000 I bet.
@Subhasish
The guy has only short term memory loss….not since birth…there is always a chance that he did the body building before the memory loss…and will be shown in the movie…and you need to have the patience to watch…and ofcourse wait…
The good thing about this Ghajini is…a small poster is making such news and such publicity, donno wats gonna happen when the movie is out? Cooooool……keep going guys….yehi to hai kamaaal about passion….
The movie will be a success for sure, Aamir can pull it off. But honestly i wish he can stop shouting to every one How intense and how different he is. Let the audience decide for that.
Aamir takes himself WAY too seriously. Luckily for him, so does most of the audience. I find him unintentionally funny in his movies sometimes these days.
Why so serious, Aamir?
I am unable to decide which one is appropriate…
Amir(oops Aamir)”Weird” khan!
OR
Amir(oops Aamir)”Constipation” khan!!
guess this is the story of a short term memory loss patient trying to balance his mental lacking with a buffed up loud physicality..:)don think aamir is oblivious about a movie of memento’s stature! coz tamizh ghajini is horrible rehash of memnto and i hope he ackowldges this!but this loook definitely raises concerns!…
in the process of fine tuning his script…can c aamir over-indulging in his roles these days..did c tht happen in the case of tzp n mangal pandey
plss aamir don let ur image get into ur head!
I think both Aamir and Kamal Hassan, nowadays suffer from an image obsession of another kind. That of trying to appear desperately different.
@Naveen:”coz tamizh ghajini is horrible rehash of memnto and i hope he ackowldges this!”
Check this out:

Ammir khad relese only one movei per year but his work and quality is wonderful…
Really ammir all movie give us something
u can cheak it………
This is stuff is pukish, fuck I need to brush right now.!
Ooops..Too in your face….Quite repulsive…
Dis is gonna be a blockbuster
beleive me, amir gonna rock..im not a fan nor i admire him.
But its the brilliance of tamil filmaker whos directiing dis..n im not a tamilian..
Momento might be great but u cant expect indian veiwers to accept it as it is in indianised version.
Be practical guys…
the pics are damn funny, specially when you look at it like this, one after the other…
seems like he is sitting on the pot, terribly constipated
the tattoos look as if they are sketched with a black marker..
btw the picture even looks a bit morphed…when did mr.khan get such muscles
Hey Jahan, totally agree with all your comments on/about Amir. IMHO he is the most over-rated actor in the industry currently. Anyways…I didn’t like Ghajjini(Tamil)and am not even daring to see this one.
To me the looks are deadly and kudos to Aamir if he really developed all these muscles,and being a perfectionist i am sure this HULK look defenitly compliments the script. Still we shud hv sm patience and wait for the release and only then all the mystery will get resolved.
My best wishes are with AAMIR!
I think instead of commenting randomly we should wait for the film.I am sure there must be a reason for this “look”.
@ jahan….the link that u sent almost pulled aamir from a pedestal of a m.t everest altitude to a pedestrian’s side walk!…..its strange when u realize that an actor of aamir’s stature couldnt simply get a movie…..from a layman’s pov memento does get a lil trippy …it actually plays havoc wit ur mind…but aamir is no normal in my sensibilities atleast. kudos to aamir for his humble acceptance.If aamir would have realized the fact that the screenplay makes a viewer trippy and through the course of the movie makes the viewer a memento.He wud have opted for it straight! ….anyways am not expectin anythin big from hindi ghajini barrin aamirs acting prowess.
I think just the pictures wont be able to tell the full story and we should wait for the movie till we take a decision of “over the top” or “too loud”. If script and the director are able to produce the right effects, this look will defenitly go well or else it will be “too loud”. So it all depends on the script. Same Amitabh can be(look and justify) a helpless creature in BLACK and planning robbery in another(AANKHEN). I will wait for the theam around the pictures to make a opinion.
Aamir’s look reminded me of Imran’s look from Kidnap
eww. gross.
Looks good by itself …lets see what the movie is like.
I haven’t seen Memento or Ghajni …so, I’ll just be viewing this as an independent movie without any comparisons.
Btw most people I know who have seen Memento claim to have fully understood the movie only the second or third viewing or after reading / being told about how the story evolves. As I said, I havent seen it, but if that is the case it kind of defeats the purpose really …a movie shouldn’t be a scientific experiment or chess game that one has to analyse extensively just to figure out what it was all about.
Memento was simple enough. Most people understood it in the first go. The dullards who didn’t understand would create a benchmark for their own. No smoking any day is a far more challenging movie. And then again, I know many who understood it in first go.
hindi mein likhna chahiye tha agar indianized version bana raha hai “kalpana ko maar diya” :D
@Jahaan, I called u Jahaan jaan simply coz i liked ur comments very much and it rhymes wid ur name too. But will not call u if u feel uncomfortable
Anywayz, this bulky look does not suit Aamir coz he is too short to carry this look. A lean body would have been just fine.
Wierd .. without a doubt. But the bod looks amazing. Must have taken some sweat out of him to get that !!
is he trying to imitate his nephew in Kidnap or what???
does want to be a desi rambo or something!
@kic #35.
Its true that mememto is a puzzle in puzzle.I understood it after rewinding my first 20 minutes and then starting again. But its interesting. A suspense is presented you in a zig-saw puzzle.
Being inspired from memento, Ghajini would still be an interesting movie as it just borrowed the concept of short-term-memory loss from the movie and not the whole story(I hope so).
Even though you plan to watch ghajini, go for memento too. Its a great movie any day, though I have few points unsatisfied.
The biggest puzzle to me has been, why people on PFC keep comparing any good movie with No Smoking.Why cant they let memento be memento. can How a suspense/thrillers like memento be compared with abstract and symbolic movie like NS? Please do tell me. I visit many other websites and people have long forgotten NS.
LMAO – big muscles on a short guy look weird. Not to mention, the ears look like a cartoon character.
BTW, I’m sick of hearing the word perfectionist applied to Aamir. He is good in some movies and bad in others like everyone else.
Aamir must acknowledge that he is remaking Memento without using its great reverse forward screenplay. Some people had a hard time understanding it but it was meant to confuse and frustrate the viewer. I am sure Aamir will not use that but if the Tamil/Telugu Ghajini is anything to go by it is Memento, indianised and masala added.
Aamir does look great in the poster above.
@Puneet
Hey, I would mind when you call the Hindi movie industry the Indian film industry, where does that leave us Southies. We are stuck with tollywood and kollywood etc.
First of all I dont think we should compare Ghajini to Memento…as Aamir as already denounced the film (I didn’t unerstand MOMENTO???) We’d have to wait to compare it to Gajini (which I have been told by my friends is not bad). And secondly why compare Ghaijni to No Smoking. You’re lowering the benchmarks. I’m sure Ghajni will probably be better…and more understood than NS. If you want to compare it to Mr Kashyap’s oevre, then perhaps Black Friday would have been a better comparison…a superb film in every sense. Lets hope Ghajini is too. Then the rest of us Memento fans will perhaps sleep better (inspite of the fact that Aaamir bought the remake rights of Ghajini and not of Memento…infact I wonder if A.R. Murugadoss ever thought of buying the rights)
I like the quality of photograph,.
aamir looks hot!
@shubhashish..Why would anyone be a dullard if they didnt understand Memento at the first go?Did you see the ” Fight Club” moment in that?If you did not get what I said..let me know.:)
So much of venom and hatred with just the poster…crucifying without a trial??
Regular marketing material. I am not surprised at this look. I am more interested in the way the movie shall be. One thing I do notice is at this:
In the Tamizh Gajini, even though the character of Asin isn’t married to Surya’s character, he still writes “My wife was killed” or something similar. This being a direct lift from Memento where the guy’s wife is murdered…
Atleast here it is “Kalpana was killed”… So, some homework was done … So let’s see what else changes..
@Puneet: Thanks for the compliment
… It’s just that ‘Jahan jaan’ sounds a little too drag queen for comfort :D … Keep reading and keep commenting- and lets keep this ‘dostana’ alive :P
Something about the name Kalpana that struck me now.
It had to be….The imagination of the main character that the storyline is based on…Ya..It is Kalpana right…
the tattooes on the beefed-up body, why does this remind me of deniro’s look in Cape Fear? Another method actor who got criticized for being over-indulgent? maybe!
@shiv
ghajini could obviously not be compared with No smoking, and not because it would be lowering the benchmark – quite to the contrary in fact. the point being made was memento was more easily comprehensible to the average filmgoer than No smoking. It is Aamir who’s bent upon lowering the benchmarking by remaking a remake that took away the most brilliant part of the original. if you had to draw a parallel to No Smoking, you’d find it difficult to spot one if you’re looking for just movies. try reading the trial or metamorphosis instead. or you could wait for “Synedoche New York”
@abhisal…
its one thing having to think about a film and getting it…and its another thing when nothing makes sense at all, of course “meanings” may sift in and out in the course of discussions but that doesn’t make up for the fact that the film was utterly unnaceptable. If you want me to just draw a parallel with NS and other “movies” then David Lynch comes to mind. But that would be giving NS a lot more credit than it deserves. I have read the Trial and since we’re at it, I have also read America. Metamorphises I still haven’t, but now with your expert opinion, will go and catch it.
I am waiting for “Synedoche New York” since i am big fan of Charlie Kaufmann, have read all his scripst including the unmade draft of A Scanner Darkly…so yes you could say I am eager…
@49 a big LOL for “dostana” comment :-)
I dunno, I am not keenly waiting for Ghajini. After this poster, nothing changes.
Guess its my fault, but the ghost of “Memento” will continue to haunt if and whenever I end up watching this G even though it may not be “inspired” by M.
@21, I concur with it for A”coke”K part at least. Sometimes the result is good, RDB and sometimes its Fanaa.
@ Shiv & abhisal,
I think No Smoking was bad film, it was just beyond understanding of average (@ abhisal) and above average audiance both. Films are made for the audiance and if u pick any classic, they all connected with the so called classes and masses.If u have to make such an over complicated film then dont release it, its better u hav a private screening for the so called niche filmwallahs. I am sending u a very good review written by Kartik on NS. Please read it, I think it is perhaps the best written review on No Smoking. http://passionforcinema.com/no-smoking-shut-up-and-work-or-what-not-to-do/
i read the scanner darkly draft too and would have preferred kauffman’s version any day over the linklater version that came out. i like linklater’s work but didn’t feel scanner darkly required the same treatment as ‘waking life’. A live action would have been great.
and am no expert on Kafka either. every film has an audience and if you did not like NS then it doesn’t necessarily mean the film was ‘utterly unacceptable’, i’m sure NS did and would in the future get its audience(the movie would undoubtedly stand the test of time)
As The Dude told Jesus: “yeah..well (beat) thats just like (beat)your opinion man!”
@Puneet: “u pick any classic, they all connected with the so called classes and masses” That is a very, very ignorant remark. there are so many classics that I do not understand. There will be many ‘masses’ who do not understand Godard etc but are their films not classics?
@Vishesh: haha…Thanks
@Puneet: A great example is on the main page itself right now.
http://passionforcinema.com/breathless-%e2%80%93-a-classic-blend-of-technique-and-aesthetics/
If that is your reason for trashing NS, then it is a very lame one. Why say it was bad if you didn’t get it. I liked NS- it isn’t ‘great’ or a ‘classic’, but I really really enjoyed it.
@ Jahan,
, nd I am doing good for my self.
In my opinion any film that does not connect with the audience has no right to be called a classic, I have not seen Godard but will surely catch it. The best example that comes in my mind is “The bicycle thief”. I can not think of one person who will not connect to that film, and in my opinion it is one of the best film ever made. Agreed that some times good films get ignored but in time they get their due. I have no personal reason to trash NS, I loved Paanch and Black Friday. But in NS I thought audience were taken for granted simply coz it was not made as per audience’s understanding, I saw that film twice thinking I might have missed something but still didn’t get it. I simply didn’t care what happened with K and cursed myself for watching the movie again.I have a very simple benchmark for a good movie- “no matter what genre, I should enjoy the film.” nd I guess it is with everybody. So I just think it is a bad film and its just my opinion. Lame or smart I am what I am
@ Jahan,
Sorry for the last line “nd I am doing good for my self.”. It was rude, didn’t mean to sound like that.
@ Jahan,
Lemme me know abt ur fav films of Godard.
Somebody please tell me what is this Metamorphosis and Trial? I liked No Smoking and am really interested in more stuffs like that. Nobody here mentioned Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain. It would qualify as an abstract art as well.
@Jahanpanah
metamorphosis and the trial are books by Kafka….
Thanks Rusted rick
amir is grate
when i saw gajini after that i feel i m also suffer with short term memory lose disease…..
AND I LOVE AAMIR SOOOOOO MUCH
