Had Delhi 6 Been Less Preachy….
Delhi 6 carried huge expectations. However, one can’t help feeling dissatisfied at the end of it. And you wonder why the movie doesn’t work, despite having so much in its favor- a decent idea, impressive performances and superb music. Besides, it sure, has been made with noble intentions.
Fact is, this is a truly transient phase for Indians. Our attitudes and choices are changing for the better and the best manifestation of it comes in that emotive issues don’t quite work with our voters the way they used to, a few years back. Thus, to rake up the issue of Mandir-Masjid in the first place, took away the movie’s freshness. And then to employ the overplayed ‘kala bandar’ to hammer in the message, made the message that much more contrived.
After seeing Delhi 6, I couldn’t help feeling that the intelligence level of most of the film’s characters, as well as the audience, has been under-estimated. Had it only been less preachy, one would have enjoyed it more.

Do agree with your short writeup, somewhere the movie did lose its path.
Tuhin, by any chance you did your undergrad at techo?
They had a plot..agreed but it was the treatment that mattered and sorry to say that this was as bad as it could get. I mean song like “Rehna tu” playing in the background while AB plays pool?!?!?!?!?!?!! Come on!!! You dont waste a romantic song sung by Rahman like this.
