Happy Birthday Johnny Gaddar…
So it happened yesterday evening before the formal release of Johnny Gaddar the much awaited film of the year. Though Sanjay Routray the executive producer had already told me a day in advance about the screening I was totally unsure of whether I would be making it or not because of my commitment towards ‘Horn OK Please’
The best coincidence was Sanjay celebrating his birthday today along with the films release… so there were two reasons for the entire team of Johnny Gaddar to celebrate. The screening went of well and I would not write much about it for three reasons one because Sriram will always feel that my views are slightly biased towards him (which most of the time they are and they will be always, except when it comes to his scripts), secondly because his brother Sridhar Raghavan will continue to feel that I am not to be seen anywhere other than PFC and thirdly because I have been made to act also in the film. So there is a possibility about me actually putting a biased one sided post about Johnny Gaddar…
So after the screening we went in for the party where we also celebrated Sanjay’s Birthday, the films release and but of course Niels superb dream come true debut…
Of course their was the whole gang Niels dad Mr. Nitin Mukeshji all happy for his son whom Niel had not let seen the film because he wanted him to see it in a movie hall,
Imtiaz Ali, CK Murleedharan, Ramani, Rakesh, Rupa, Vijay Maurya, Sourabh Narang, Murli, Zakir, Ashwini pooja (the editor), pooja shetty, rohan sippy, Rajat, Kusum, Sridhar, Sanjay’s close buddies Rony and gang all were present to wish Sanjay and to Johnny to do well…
Keeping our fingers crossed… whoever sees the film do let us know what u feel about the film.
PS: - There was a great conversation that took place with the Director of Photography Mr. CK Murleedharan about his struggling days after he came to Bombay and what all he went through, think it will be an interesting piece of information especially for all the people who are assisting in various departments, but that will be a part of another lovely post some times soon… (Hope I don’t forget the many details that he shared as I was too happy and high, winkkkk…)

Which one was you Surendraji? Loved the film… Was totally awesome… Can you please change the name of your post Gaddaar? The single ‘a’ makes it sound like that Sunny Deol film where he shouts till we drop…
Sure will..hopefully by today..
Hi Pratim,

@ surendra.. u have to give me credit mann ..i have been doing publicity everywhere i go…hope i get something in return..eheh..but i hope primarily the movie should be good. i should feel kicked abt it at the end of it.
Eagerly awaiting your feedback Sourav…
@surendra : hw are you related to the movie?
I asisted Sriram in ‘ek haseena thi’ as his second AD i know him since than…
You shall get your review soon..hope the flick is good.
ha ha surya… knew I’d find you here.. cheers… shridhar
guys what did i tell you about shridhar???
zurryaa,
thaankkss…for the tickets! the film rocks! it’s a great tribute to james hadley chase…a noir thriller of a movie! the tagline of hollywood film ‘TRUE ROMANCE’ fits it perfectly -stealing..cheating..killing!
JOHNNY GADDAAR is as riveting and intriguing as coen bros FARGO, danny boyle’s SHALLOW GRAVE, wachowski bros BOUND, john dahl’s THE LAST SEDUCTION, guy ritchie’s LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, bryan singer’s THE USUAL SUSPECTS & tarantino’s RESEVOIR DOGS!!
(noticed that the idea of neil taping all the cash in seperate plastic bags and storing it in the water tank is from SHALLOW GRAVE)
by the way surya congrats on your acting debut…you should send your portfolio to RGV…he’s looking for fresh faces for his next ‘DHYEYE’…ha! cheers!
@ surendra…the movie plan is frozen for tonite..@ starcity..johhny G here i come.
ha ha ha sahil thanks for coming man… and half the names u quoted i haven’t even heard of… but thanks, its my ignorance i know.
Hmmm… what the role in Dhyeye??? When can RGV narrate the script chu me?
hmmmm…that’s ok…jussszz watch the films if you havent seen them yet…also watch BLOOD SIMPLE, A SIMPLE PLAN, RED ROCK WEST, SNATCH & JACKIE BROWN…you’ll love them…
superb,excekkent.
now RAMU should learn from SRIRAM.i am not kidding..seriously.
sorry…
finally saw Johnny G…well made movie…everyones done well….i did like the credits at the start of the movie..and somehow the movie has a retro feel…neil mukesh is good fr a newcomer…rimi is the same..dharmendra is different..vinay at his usual best..everyone had a good role to play…nice editing..somehow there was this Guy Ritchie in filmaking dept. But in totality a very neat and a slick flick.
Diesel Bhai…
uppar wlala kjiske sath ho use ungli nahi karte…………………………….kyun diesel bhai:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d:d
The movie kept me hooked till the very end; kudos to Shriram and team for a fine release amidst the clutter we’ve seen in the recent past…Good luck to Neil as well…
Bro Diesel your character is so unlike you…n u look lot younger on screen:)
The film is a joyfull ride!
gr8 watch….neil mukesh rocks….will bring a smile to the lovers of Coen Bros n Quentin Tarantino
halo all…
that means in all the film is atleast till now being received well…
loved the line by Dharam paaji ” it is not about the age. it is about the mileage” superb!!! waiting to watch it again.it was said to see the theatre empty. i hope and pray ki aaj aur kal mein sab theatres housefull
Zoorya / Diesel, is there any way i can contact Niel NM? i wish to make a movie wid him sometime in 2008.
surya bhai! loved watching you onscreen as diesel!
though you could do with a couple of more expressions(just a thought), your deadpan look helped establishing Vinay’s character, Prakash..
“jiske sar pe uparwaale ka haath hota hai, use ungli nahi karte”
Surendra, this is what box office india.com says about jhonny gaddar “Poor business despite tremendous appreciation from industry and critics. FLOP” how true is this?
Hey rony,
Yes its true, and the reason is that the film was not Promoted as it should have been… its really sad that the Producers did such great injustice to their own film…
adlab’s is big, but that doesn’t mean that they treat all films equallly and take good films worth watching like just another product…
But the very fact that all who saw the film liked it says it all…
hi
other than diesel i think u were in one more shot, ” ee prakash bhai kidhar hai?…”
you say ” woooo udharrr….”
right.
HEY SURYA WHERE R U MAN…………….U R MISSING FROM D SCENE …WHATZ D STATUS OF UR MOVIE………U R MISSING FROM ORKUT ALSO……..ALL D BEST FOR UR DIRECTORAL DEBUT………
