Our film stars : Their style of social appearance
Rk | News & Gossip | April 19, 2007 at 5:59 am
Caution : Simply gossip!!!!
See Ajay Devgan’s dress.
What he is going to do there? Is he Omkara here also? Open chested. Common Ajay!
And Uday Chopra.
link
He did not get blade or time or both to shave so that people can recognise him? Its his childhood friends marriage ceremony and he is appearing in this way?
And RGV, what he is going to do there?
link
And whole lot of people from younger generation immitate the dress sense of these stars! Where it will lead then?
* * * *
Those who belong to that category who don’t have much means they have to live with limited available things and so many times they have no alternatives but those who come under the category of Haves, do these things?
Is it fashion? Have people really been changed and nothing is out, and one can put on just “under shirt and half pant”, to attend a wedding? There can be time when these stars will start attending programs with no shirt on chest and perhaps later only in underwear.
Is it liberal era and freedom for all mantra which is working.
Bit confused!
* * * *
One hardly can produce any photo where film stars of yester years have been wearing wrong kind of dresses especially when attending social gatherings. They might not have millions of Rupees like today’s stars have and they might not have access to latest fashion and famous branded clothes but they always opted decent clothes while appearing on social platforms.
One cant see Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand in unsuitable attire. Raj Kapoor did not always wear suits but his Kurta Paijamas were good.
Next generation of Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna etc maintained the decency. Even today one cant see Amitabh Bachchan in a dress which does not have decency.
But middle and young generation of hindi film stars have started a new trend. Its said that Fashion is that dirty form of clothes which changes every week.
Its very common scene these days to see our hindi film stars especially males attending Ceremonies, arranged to celebrate happy occasions, with unshaven faces, open shirt and jeans with holes on pockets or at knees. They do several films at a time so its possible that beard, moustache or long hairs can be due to the demand of their roles but awkward dresses? They earn millions and cant dress them properly while attending ceremonies like marriage. Let alone marriage but some of them appear with awkward dresses in the funerals also.
Female film stars are also not behind. After all they have to keep pace with their male colleagues in this liberal era so they also enjoy awkward dresses.
Its their personal life but still they care for their image in the people and for that sake they should take care of demand of the occasions also. They don’t have to wear always nice suits but simple shirt trousers wont put much burden on them.
Become a normal humanbeing sometime!

Its admirable to see one of the biggest film Star Rajini Kant for all his simplicity and down to earth attitude. He appears in public as he is in real life. No false get up, no attitude. Thats the way of a real actor. Acting is his profession and as Doctors dont wear their stethoscope or white coat when they are not in hospital and all other professionals dont keep their professional accessories and get up all the time, same way film stars should also behave like true professionals. Acting, when they are before camera and rest they should enjoy life like a common man.

mebe ajay and kajol were doing some film number together for the sangeet eheehhehe
dulha dulhan seems to be making it a prerequisite that everyone ‘perform’ during the celebrations…
DPac: you may be right. But if he has to perform without shirt as a tribal, is it necessary to come in that dress from his home:)
Hope its not costume party.
but they do it most of the time. its not first time. Shakti Kapur was standing there when went to meet Sonia Gandhi almost in similar shirt as Ajay Devgan is wearing, open chested.
So many stars can go to meet even President in similar dress:d
Ram Gopal Verma’s green takes the cake man!
I could not believe it.
BTW that must be the best look Uday has ever had.
Karan: So, what do you have to say about critics Kunal?
Kunal: I have very little respect for most of the critics today because I don’t think their knowledge of cinema is deep enough. Their passion for cinema is not deep enough and I think critics need to have a great knowledge about cinema. He or she needs to have no agenda, needs to be absolutely unbiased and I don’t see that in most of our critics.
************
I just read that on rediff.
Can you believe that? He used to review films himself. And the worst crime of all. He made the worst film since the millenium FANAA. He managed to make the worst film with actors like AMIR & KAJOL. He must have some kind of hypnotic power.
It is Karan Johar, not Uday Chopra. Uday looks a million times worse
Yash: Uday is standing just behind the Karan Johar.
Mainak: Hope any wandering Cow did not try this green cake:)
ha ha ha. RK…so true. But with all possible kind of restrictions who knows if the Bachchans hav put restrictions on clothes as well!!!
Mainak, hav to watch this week’s Kofee With Karan. Kunal Kohli, Rakeysh Mehra, Rajkumar Hirani n Rakesh roshan are the guests.
about critics, rakesh roshan said…evryone does mistakes. ha ha ha!!!
Phoenixnu:
Re: Critics, I liked Jaya Bachchan when she replied about Critics by asking,” are there any?
So indirectly she winded bed of everybody writing on films.
What KM and SKJ etc will react on that take?:)
RK: You are spot on about Rajinikant. He is not pretentious, he is what he is. He lives life like any comman man and travels in trains to Himalaya like a comman man in second class birth inspite of being the highest paid actor in India.
Also check his photos at www.rajinifans.com . He attended the muhurat of the movie Billa2 that has Ajit as the Hero which is the remake of Rajini’s earlier movie Billa. By the way Billa was a remake of DON (AB). He is not threatened by anyone, he is not insecure. Unlike AB SRK constant upmanship, he lets others grow and gives them enough space.
RK…i dont agree. Its very simple…if they get good reviews, they will trust them. n if not then they will reply in that manner. Also, in the same interview jaya bachchan gave some really dumb answers. i had some different notions about her. no more. karan asked them…one politician who should join films…hema : laloo prasad yadav, jaya : manmohan singh(????). karan asked man on a mission…jaya : vivek oberoi(???). Also, on politics she said some great thinsg about mulayam singh. has she gone mad??
Shawshank: Thanks for weblink of Rajinikant’’s site.
This is true, he is writing new rules of stardom in India but his natural instincts are going to create difficulties for other film stars of India.
Their glamourous and pretentious life style will always get rough comparison with the simplicity of this great star.
Earlier. sometimes I used to wonder regarding mass hysteria about Rajini Kant and his films but now I understand why his magic works so deeply with audience. Its not only his acting on screen but his personal life style is also a major factor in making his image in the heart of audience. He looks so confident and content without any wig and with all his baldness and white hairs and beard.
Perhaps he has got spiritual touches while making Baba, otherwise film stars are seldom look so content in their appearance.
Phoenixnu:
little different views!
In my opinion films stars too have right to have opinion about critics as critics have on films and film stars and their works. Not only Jaya Bachchan but many film personalities all over the world can have much harsh opinion about critics. and sometimes its not based on the fact that till they praise you they are fine. She went ahead to say critics dont write enough to make their article as critical peice than to write the story of the film and acting was good or bad. No mention of camera work or sound etc. A justified opinion.
Re: KWK,
Its all related to rapid fire round. Some of their answers audience may enjoy and some they may find as absurd. Jaya Bachchan’s and Hema Malini’s answers also fall in that category. As 2-3 hours long examination cant be a parameter to judge the overall intelligence of a student, same way this round can not be a platform to judge their intelllect. Moreover at that age they are not different than the other people of that age having same kind of education. Somebody always can give dumb kind of answers in such question answer rounds. any one, including those persons to whom you, we can understand as most intelligent persons.
To be fair to Jaya Bachchan, and keeping away our own views about political leaders, any one who belongs to a particular political party, will take name of its leader. If same question was asked to Hema Malini, she would have come up with the names of Vajpai or Advani.
Jaya Prada and Jaya Bachchan would take name of Mulayam Singh Yadav as Priya Datt would take name of Sonia Gandhi.
Its quite natural. It does not reflect any other thing than a answer which causes no trouble.
That Show is not to bring out their intelligence but just casual talks. Karan is in a position to ask many questions which film stars will not entertain from other journalists or media personalities. Thats the special factor of the show else its a chit chat show and shd be taken in that way only.
RK, u r rite. But its not the case everywhere n with everyone. she should start cleaning the mess from her house n should tell her husband to stop that certain mr jha!!
agree with ur view’s on Ajay Devagan’s Style quotient,
but it doesnt go same wid uday.. wts wrong with having an unshaved look and going to a marriage.even ABhishek is having unshaved look..after allits his marriage, wt wud u say about him :d
nways n next RGV, why man ..dosnt he suppose to attend weddings..
get with it guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoever stipulated that wedding dress code. RGV , Ajay Devgan can sport whateva they like. Leave the regulation , institution to the Bachan’s , Chopra’s and Johar’s. Amitabh and Jaya are fantastic actors, there is not an iota of doubt about that, Abhishek is just a fringe player, if you keep doing film after film , it just might happen that he gets his kshit together in at least one of them, it has’nt happened till now but when it happens, Amitabh would say I always knew he had the minerals. As for this wedding, its as if LADY MACBETH is marrying into this family, it has everybody at their wits end warding off the so called cosmic effects. So much for Harivansh Rai Bachan’s revolutionary prose.
Phoenixnu: yes you are right, she shd atleast ask SKJ to improve his reviews.
Excuse me for my ignorance, Does SKJ write reviews also somewhere? I have read only his interviews with stars and his writing about lives of stars but never read any review by him. Where he writes?
BTW, He claims to be friend of Jaya Bachchan in Bachchan house, he came to know Amitabh through Jaya:)
RK, he writes for indiafm. N for some agencies as well. Its d same review.
leave hema malini alone…everyone knows she is dumb…how best can she answer than she did…
we should see the blank face when kj asked, “do u think u can make a difference as a rajyasabha(i’m not sure what position she had in politics) member”. can anything b changed or something like that she answered and said better roads…that’s her limitation…thank god she is beautiful…we couldn’t stop noticing jayaji trying to stop laughing when hemaji was answering that question…
wow…just saw the least talented chopra’s pic…what happened to him..is he doing some kind of historical movie or what..kj is looking fine though…
The one other superstar who sets the bar must be Kamal Hassan. All of his public appearances are always in a dapper & dignified manner esp now that he banners the matured and senior artiste label. His suits, polo shirts or simply casual- chic turnouts are always in good taste and decorum.
