And i would like to dedicate this one to…no, not dedicate anymore but this time…..i think the more deserving actor in this category is Siddharath for Rang De Basanti. So,I would like to give this award to Siddharth. Come here Siddharth. And if you dont believe me, check out the nominations for Best Actor in Supporting Role category….me n dad for KANK, john abraham for babul, kunal kapoor and siddharth for Rang De Basanti. Am i not rite ?
Ah…if only. If only somebody can teach “art of giving” now. Enough of “art of living”. But since m not junior AB, its just a passing thought.
I know, i know…the discussion can go on and on. Because we all know the truth. Its Filmfare or FilmUNfare or whatever u want to call it. Who should win and who should not ? Discussing means giving more attention to it than it deserves. But i wanted to write few things about the awards because they did few things rite this time. Tried real hard to look like the Oscar ceremony. But somebody needs to tell them that cutting down live audience from 2700 to 700 doesnt make them look like Oscar. Also, the arranged the naach-gana for telecast only. And I never thought they will take Anurag’s suggestion so seriously……

They really moved to Yashraj Lawns!!! Next year they would cut down from 700 to 70 and would move to Jalsa for sure. Bhaiyoon, mera bageecha bhi khali hai.
Anyway,the good things….Deepak Dobriyal (Omkara) was awarded for Special Jury Recognition. Naresh Iyer ( RDB songs….ru ba ru n others ) was given R D Burman Award for upcoming talent. And Konkona Sen Sharma was awarded Best Supporting Actor (female) for Omkara. Thats it.

Also….Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra disappointed big time with his acceptance speech. Said…if movies like Dhoom, KANK, Krish n others (few more names) r made we surely are going in better direction n blah blah!!! (Mehraji…Zindagi jeene ke do hi tarike hai…pehle..award lo aur unke gun gaao. Dooja…award lo aur phir se unke goon gaao)
Jaya Bachchan….earlier also they wanted to give me the lifetime achievement award. But i refused. i decided to accept it this time because now we have a new member in our family. My daughter-in-law. And so i thought this is the rite time ( no exactly the same words but she meant the same). Am still trying to understand. Iska MATLAB ????
OK. Enough about filmfare. Watched Oscars in the morning. Great entertainment. Some predictable and some unpredicatble ones. The best part…finally they gave it to Martin Scorsese. Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas handed it to him. And then came the most memorable qoute….Martin said “thank you, thank you” some 20 times and then…..”could you double check the envelope”….ha ha ha. That was ultimate!!!

agree totally phoenixnu…your post is bang on…the awards (or barbaads as our friend in PFC likes to call it) if held in Jalsa next year would be the ultimate…joke of the century man…things people do for publicity! the Bachchans specifically…leave no stone unturned to show their face on public and what a phony and pretentious face that is. they and their hone waali bahu are peering out of every newspaper…disgusting…
Phoenixnu: did not watch the programme but Guess Jaya Bachchan meant, Life time achievement is given mostly after retirting from active acting profession and when she is ready to become mother in law so it may be indication for her to consider retiring from acting. Though she does not act in many films. But if she is given an award for her acting in her career than she deserves this award. She has been a wonderful actress all through her acting profession.
Re: Exchange offer of awards, was it possible for Sidharth to give away the award(if he was getting it)to give away to other actor nominated in same category and who could be more deserving than him. For me Atul Kulkarni was far more true to his character shown in RDB than anyoneelse. His body language and expressions were true to the role given to him. But he is not even nominated. So was Sidharth going to say. I wish to give it to Atul who deserved nomination.:)
Awards can be bogus but NOONE is going to give their awards to others:)
Remember, Saif In Hum Tum was given preference over SRK in Swadesh, in National Awards and Sudhir Misrha had given some reasons behind this decision. Its not always meaty role but several other factors also have to be considered.
@RK…about jaya bachchan..yes no doubt she is great actor n she truly deserves everything. but i could not understand her logic. N b4 that she also said…if this award means plz do retire, then m with javedsaab on this…forget it!!!. javed akhtar was also given lifetime award n he said…forget it…if its about retiring. About Sidharth giving away the award to someone…he can if he wishes to. whats wrong in that.RK…u can write a sequel to my post…if i were siddharth…but what to do..atul kulkarni is not even nominated…like anupam kher for khosla ka ghosla n many others. Par kachde ke dabbe me ek phool to khile kahin se. Waise to its bullshit n more shit. May be few more people will learn from somone who can start.
Several other factors for filmfare…ha ha…i dont think so. but yes i would prefer srk in swades anyday than saif in humtum. but its liek tit for tat for Shahrukh…when u win for all the horrible thing,lose out on the good one…ha haha.

If some of us are appointed as judge here on PFC to give away some awards to some films then also people will find it awkward to feel any synchronisation with our decisions. One filmfare cant decide fate of an actor and time and again it has been proved. Aamir is not destroyed as an actor whenever he is not given best actor award and SRK did not become better actor than his status with every award he won. But many people found it objectionable when Saif won in Hum Tum over SRK in Swadesh, but Judges had their logic. So lets take it this way only. these Cos which sponsor filmfare appointed few judges and they selected these films and actors. If selection committee was different than perhaps the decisions also would have been different. Few deserving got awards, though few deserving could not even been nominated and few less deserving got awards. So its a mix. Where true justice is done here in India? or say in Oscar also. Is it truely genuine there always? How it can happen that only an actor can be chosen as best actor, baki kalakar kya dhaniya bech rahe the saal bhar? same happens with directors. If we go on genuinity than this mere basis to select best film best actor etc is bogus concept. How two films can be compared? Here we dont have same JEE question paper that everybody is trying same kind of questions. Story is different, treatment is different than how one can be best and other is not?:-?
At the best, these awards functions are like any other filmi show and shd be taken that way only. If we like to see cine stars gathered at one place than its entertainment. Rest when Manoj Bajpai did not win for Bheekhu Mahatre that did not stop him to act in better way in Pinjar.
On Kofee with Karan…Bhansali said Kunal Kohli is the most over rated director. And few more things like Fanaa was really bad or so…that suggests they have some problems between them. Any clue ?
Also,height of narcissism…bhansali said he doesnt watches anyone else’s film except his one. So, he hasnt seen RDB or LRMB yet.

SLB loves drama, an opera touch so he said in more dramatic way, though many big authors do this and say this. and many film makers will also be doing this thing. Artists have to be bit narcissist. It seems good that he is opening his thinking and mind before audience.
But when he does not see other’s films why and how he saw Fanaa?

Kyo phookat mein apne dimaag ko kharab karna chahte ho. Saale sab awards kab ka bik chuka hoga. The day they gave Anil Kapoor the Best Actor award for sleepwalking through his role in Beta, that day itself it became Farce. And when Salman Khan won over Manoj Bajpai, the awards were well and truly burried for ever. Why waste our energies on a bunch of egomaniacs and jerks? Woh to sudarega nahin, unless we blow up TOI HQ.
