In Defense of PFC/Pawan—- Reaction To The Article
Hi Folks,
Heard about the Mid Day article. Short and precise reaction. Pawan/PFC, I can tell you that I have nothing but utmost disdain, for 98% of the Indian film based journalists, both in India and the US. Most of them are minimum wages folks out on a power trip and are either frustrated writers, or directors or wannabees. They do no research have limited IQ and the only thing they can sell is sensationalism. Unfortunately they are “fed” by many of the people from Bollywood, who like to be in the news all the time, so this further inflates their ego.
Hence I would encourage you, Pawan, not to take what they write too seriously. Canard and half baked stories, are their way of showing their lack of skill set.
Again this is not being done to play up to you Sir, as an audience, going forward, i will like some of your stuff and not like some, that is my prerogative, but it is more an appeal to continue this process of interaction with people who care about what you do for a living. Also just to put you at ease, if I really wanted to play up to you or reach out, could have done that through Prem Kishen and Sunil Mehta, who were my neighbors in Mumbai, they being in 3 Deluxe Apts, Altamount Road and me in 5 Deluxe Apts.
In my own experience of growing SAAFA, I have taken the long term approach of never caring or feeding the ego of journos and yet, when I get someone like Shibani for a one on one, they are all over you, just goes to show that they really have no spine.
In my limited experience with PFC, it comes across as a straight talking/publishing group and your continued interaction with them, irrespective of dumb press articles, will be of immense benefit to both you and your wellwishers. Blogging, by revealing about who you truly are, makes people more sensitive to your films.
Sincerely,
Vivek “press nothwithstanding” Kumar

What a ridiculous statement by Mid-Day! Is every filmmaker copying the first ever filmmaker by making films? Jeez!
The internet is a medium for communication. It is a medium which enables great conversations. Some filmmakers started blogging years ago. Others are just starting to blog. What is heartening is that more and more filmmakers are using the online world to have great conversations. That is fabulous for us emerging filmmakers and those who are passionate about the medium.
Pavan - I hope you will continue to share your experiences and your experiments with us.
Best,
Shripriya
The article in midday sucks. What sort of media is that which is so narrow minded as to not understand what’s happening on public mediums.
It’s actually great that film makers are now coming forward to interact with the actual audience at a personal level and people have reservations against it.
Pavan - we are all with you. The people who write this probably have never ever done anything original or novel in their entire lives. Keep em’ coming.
see journos are notorious for not checkin facts and filin stories…especially entertainment wale…so JIT (just ignore them)
in the first place, directors who writes for PFC
On the other hand, if some one criticizes PFC..then i guess..they have a point.
PFC is the place for a clique of elite people masturbating…and one person decides
if an article is worth or not..so much for passion!
if not for kashyap and kaul..and some other genuine film buffs..i wouldn’t be visiting this site much.
may be the site is still in its infancy.i dont know.
i am waiting for more articles from those guys.
on other note:
god knows how much i like sienfeld and michael Richard’s has to fuck it up for me.
tropical malady : second half is a visual masterpiece.4/5
begotten : wtf is that? 5/5
cyclo : great movie..a bit too long. 5/5
tall target : loved it. 4/5
murder, my sweet : very underrated. 4/5
2001: A Space odyssey is still the greatest movie ever made.
in the first place, directors who writes for PFC, they write from their hearts.(esp. pavan kaul and kashyap). They are not trying to gain audience or make money.
I really enjoyed their articles..but..i am not angry with mid-day…because its silly …its like one of those page 3 paris hilton took a dump kind of shit.. that too even without verifying.
(i dont know..but something happnd to my first paragraph)
- “PFC is the place for a clique of elite people masturbating…” WTF??? =)) Calling passionate economically middle class cine fanatics who have regular day jobs coming home to write about cinema and keep their comments section open to give equal or opposing views on the articles they’ve written - as “elite people masturbating” - td what ever you are popping in right now I would certainly love a bite of that =))
“one person decides if an article is worth or not..so much for passion!! ”
TaxyDriver - u sound like a pissed off kid who’s not being given an ice cream !!! WTF ??
U throw names of these ‘classic films’ … but have u ever tried reviewing a ‘classic’ and sending it as a mailer to the moderator of the site ??? And leave it to his discretion.. If you do have a passion for cinema and if your articles are governing the technical aspects/audience ‘related’ emotions …I see no reason why you shouldn’t be writing here !!
I mean i would love to learn from your knowledge (and I’m sure everyone will) but dude …. do u have the discipline to acknowledge that if only every Tom Dick and Harry wrote articles on this site … wouldn’t this site become a piece of shit !!!
Yes I love 2001 A space oddessy and Seinfield too … but i don’t go around bullshitting in some unrelated post and try to prove a point to someone … trying to show off my cinema knowledge …
I am thinking that the reporter @ Mid-day is the person who seriously needs some bit of therapy.:-l
Here is my take on the issue
[...] Vivek Kumar [...]
Pavan, Keep writing my friend. It was total moronic stuff written.
Oz, lets have some more of guys from cinema (Writers, directors, musicians choreographer to the spot boy) speaking about their profession.
We, the public have not much of idea about the total ingredients required to make a movie. PFC is educating us on some aspects of it. It would be good to know more.
Taxydriver, are you really pissed coz none cares that u dump 3 times a day or so but the whole comes to know that Michael Jackson used Bal Thackrey loo when he was in Mumbai some years back. Zara meter ki taraf bhi dhyan do yaar, thosa zyada aur tez bhag raha hai.
