Indian Films at SF Intl Film Festival

Here we go again, another film festival.
My second yr at the annual SF film festival has taken off to a slow start with just a couple of films this week thanks to all my savings and energy vaporizing at IFFLA ;). As always, I am told, this ground breaking festival has brought some really amazing films which have hardly been shown around. I have only heard of a few among which there is 500 days of Summer and the closing night attraction – Unmade beds.
Two Indian films are being showcased today, both I have not had the opportunity to hear about previously. Mohandas and Chaturanga (Four Chapters). I have missed the first one but I will be catching the 2nd film later today.
The others that I have tickets are for:
1. The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle
2. Kabuli Kid
3. Moon
Following are the Indian films in contention:
1. Chaturanga

A young Bengali intellectual’s rebellion against conservative society takes him from atheism to mystical asceticism and relationships with two women in this story of love as both a game and a war of ideas, based on Tagore’s classic 1916 novella.
2. Mohandas

A Kafkaesque tale of identity theft becomes a searing indictment of bureacratic corruption and conspiracy as a poor but educated villager discovers that the white-collar job he was promised has been filled by someone using his name.
As always, exciting films but I have been let down quite a few times by these synopsis as they either are mind-blowingly good or downright boring. But I have my bias so let’s see how this yr goes.
So I am off, hopefully will tell you more about these films over the weekend and a couple that I had a chance to watch.

Good Luck Ravptor..hope to see your take on the films
i saw ‘mohandas’ at osians .it was interesting n moving tale about how a poor educated man’s identity is stolen from him and what system does to him.quite disturbing, provocative n interesting.check it out.
Looking forward to your insight on these films!
Missed Chaturanga at the Pune Film Fest this yr. Do write in @ the movie. Will know what i missed
…and @ the others too that you watch. Sharbani M looks so much like a younger Anita Kanwar here…
