INTERESTING TITLES OF DUBBED MOVIES

I love to watch dubbed movies. Though my English is fair enough, but sometimes it is difficult for me to understand pronunciation of foreign actors as they do not open their whole mouth while speaking (unlike our hindi actors do….). and I don’t want to imagine what the actor is saying.
It is also interesting listen desi version of English dialogues and titles. As per my knowledge, Jurassic Park was first official dubbed movies but the title was kept same then there were lots of movies whose titles were more interesting or pathetic than the movie itself.
So I have found some interesting dubbed hindi titles of foreign movies….may be you enjoy….
* Dear or alive- Karo ya maro
* Pirates of Caribbean- Curse of black pearl-Samunder ke lootere
* Dead man’s chest- Murde ka khazana
* At world’s end- Antim ghadi
* The bone collector- Khatarnak qatil (imagine the word to word translation…????)
* Under world- Khooni Darinda – no this is not a Ramgopal varma movie…
* Gladiator- Vijeta
* The patriot- Yodhdha
* The fifth element- Paanchva tatva- (this is called word to word translation)
* Deep blue sea- Maut ka samunder
* Poseidon – Sunami ka kahar
* The last samurai-Aakhri yodhdha
* Ghost rider – Mahakaal – so the movie Ghost can be titled as Kaal
* The day the earth stood still – Mahapralay
* Dunston checks in – ek Bandar hotel ke andar
* Night at museum – Museum ke undar fans gayaa sikander
* Baby’s day out- ek bay teen badmaas
* Jingle all the way – Khilone ki chahat bani papa ki aafat-
* Exit wounds- Jurm aur kanoon
* Resident Evil Extinction- Pralay
* Lack placid- Magarmachch
* War of the worlds- Grahon ka mahayudhdha
* Mr. & Mrs. Smith- Mr. & Mrs. Sharma- I think sharma family was moved to usa and after long time their surname changed to smith.
* Black Hawk dawn – Aakraman
* Star wars- Attack of the clones- humshaklon ka hamla
* I am legend- Jindaa hoon mein
* Harry Potter- soccer’s stone- Harry potter aur parasmani
* Chamber of secrets- Rahasmayi tehkhana
* Goblet of fire- Aag ka pyala
* Verticle Limit- Mrityushikhar – here you can see creativity in translation.
* Deep impact- Dhoomketu
* Bride and prejudice- Balle balle amritsar to LA
Ok… now can you imagine the hind title of the movie The 6th day……
It was ARNOLD KA MUQABLA….. This is one way of marketing film for Indian audience by highlighting their USP.

dude night at the museum was night at the museum only. . They didnt release any english prints in india
@shailesh
nice finds…..they name their hindi versions howlariously
@abhay k
pretty sure there was a hindi version by the name mentioned in the post.
well, an interesting topic to say the least!
here are some that I can remember off the top of my head:
Iron Man = Loha
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones = Humshaklo ka Humla
Duston Checks in = Ek Bandar Hotel ke Andar
The Incredibles: Hum Hain Lajawab
@abhay K
Shailesh is right, man. Night at the Museum did indeed get released in certain sectors as Museum ke Andar phas gaya Sikandar.
one more classic…
cliff hanger = aasmaan se tapke, khajoor pe atke!
n anothr,
’superman’ was named ‘hanuman’ in hindi!!
u forgot the best one…
jeepers creepers….as jangal mein mangal lolz..
hmm . . .my bad then
Sixth Sense had its title.. Bhooton ki kahani, ek bacche ki zubani.. or something like that…
Arnie’s Eraser?
mita doonga naamo nishaan
Baap of all titles: Van Helsingh– Sardar Vaahan singh
Recall some from the 80s _
Love and Bullets – Machaltee jawaniyan, dandanati goliyan
Scorchy – Jasoos hawas ki Pujarin
And there was another one, I just remenber the dubbed title. – laga le rubber, ban ja lover
Another one that really takes the cake
The sixth sense – Murdon ki kahani, Bacchon ki zubani
the whole post is hilarious and must be given as live example that everything is lost in translation.
This one’s a killer.
Sixth Sense – Bacche ki Zubaani Murde Ki Kahani
House on the haunted hill – Kaun banega crorepati bhoot bangle ke andar
Matrix- Mayajaal
The funniest name I’ve heard for a dubbed movie is unfortunately not in Hindi. It was the Telugu name for Die Another Day – Prapancha Veerudu. Whenever I think of the name, I imagine Pierce Brosnan & Halle Berry chatting up in Telugu. LMAO!!!
Some dialogues from dubbed movies are also awesome. Like the mother of all translations (Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies when Arnie is demolishing the terrorist hideout) – Mera pati Rambo kabse ban gaya? or the cheeky one from Speed – Tumne apni gaadi ka bima nikalvaya hai?
Shailesh… Night at the Museum was actually called ‘Museum ke andar, phans gaya Sikandar – Jaag uthe dinosaur se leke bandar (tagline)’
Hilarious.
THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW -Kal Ke Baad(Word by Word)
10,000 B.C(Without transalation itself the title was misleading )
Fun with dick and Jane-MR and Mrs Jhol.
