Johnny Gaddar – Paisa Vassool
This post is sponsored byMovies some times test Intelligence of audiences and questions it. But Johnny Gaddar is different you know who the Gaddar is but it still succeeds in creating the air of suspense amongst viewers and characters in the film. Johnny G is Sriram’s homage to Vijay Anand and James Hadley Chase. I’m not going to review this one but there are somethings that I would like to share with y’all and I’m not going to reveal the whole story so I will say why you should watch Johnny G
Plus points:
There are lot of things in Johnny G that work here are few to mention….
1) Titles: It reminds you of technology that was available in 70’s & 80’s and it blends in very well with the narrative style.
2) Music: Johhny G has Kick ass music, Back ground score is simply superb, you get this feeling that you are watching any of 70’s movie and its used into the film narration very nicely.
3) Cinematography: One of the year’s best, I really liked various shades from red to orange used to narrate dark side of characters.
4) Acting: Every done did great job. Zakir Hussain deserves a special mention, Neil is great, Vinay pathak is growing on us with every movie and Dharam pajji is superb and our very own Zzzzurya makes his debut as “Diesel” keep an eye on this guy……
5) Plot: Basic plot of the Johnny G is great, Sriram Intelligentlly payed homage to people like Vijay Anaand, James Hadley Chase and the whole 70’s and 80’s films that most of us grew up on.
on the flip side I felt that Johnny G should have been cut short by 15 – 20 minutes. I would have liked to see the pace of the film to be constant and using Hip Hop Montages with the story would have been great plus in narrating the story.
On the whole its Pakka Paisa Vasool you wont be dissapointed…….go and watch it!
My rating 3.5/5
P.S
There were just 8 people in theater here in Houston and all of them liked it, thier reaction sums up that its gonna grow on people as time passes by. Dono what’s happening with Publicity in US but i wish it was more effective, hopefully people drop in after good word from every one.

Absolutely great film! All these guys wanting to pay tribute and do remakes [Ramu to Godfather via Sarkar and Farhan Akhtar to Don via Don...]please go and see this film and try to rediscover yourself as to what brought you to movies and what prompted you to become filmmakers…and how to make good thriller / drama…a great tribute and a great film! Briliant sound design! Good screenplay! Some real tense moments….that’s what I call crafting…the only bad thing about this film -is Adlabs which has not done enough to promote and market this film….and the Star….alas Neil Mukesh is NOT a Kapoor! BTW – I do not understand-why do we pay crores to Stars? [Is it because they get us the inital?]If it is so – they why do we spend crores and croes on the pubicity of their films? They anyway are suppose to get the initial and then it is the film that runs…No? And here films like JG and 1971 get made and release without any publcity budget just because they are not expected to get initals? Isiliye kahte hain ‘Laxmi ki sawari ullu hi hai!’
Read Mayank Shekhar’s review on Johhny G….Dharam Paaji ke baare mein likha tha…apart from the core issues ..he talks bullshit. makes sense in bits. These guys are a bunch of #$#$@$$@ who are just waiting every fuckin friday to rip apart any movie..they derive bloody sadistic pleasure out of it. the average cinegoer takes pointers from these dimwits and then they decide to go or not fr the movie. They do mot understand what goes into the making of a film..some reviewers have tasted their own shit.( you guys know who am talking about.) These reviewers are self styled oracles of cinema. life mein kabhi picture naheen banaa payenge.
The movie was good but not a classic which wuld be remembered for long. It coud have been made even more xciting and thrilling. The pace of the movie was perfect. No boring moments in the Movie.
Neil’s acting was very Amateur what i think, I dont know how others feel.Plots were good.
Overal a good movie.
Jhonny Gaddar – my rating 4/5. loved the film.i sent out sms’s yesterday which said ” stop whatever you are doing and go watch this film.the empty seats are waiting to thrill you. a tribute to the thrillers of the 70’s.” got an sms from a friend in the morning. ” maine teri baat suni. main edit chhod kar us gaddar ko milne gaya.it was worth.it surely deserves 4 stars.this is wht rgv will make if he gets back to his basics.”
I was surprised to read all reviews in the papers trying to rip the movie off. Everyone wanted to point out that the police are not involved during the murders. I mean even Dhol gets a good review than that but then Dhol is run of the mill movie. Its expected.
