Kahan Gaye woh log..
Do not fear my friends, this is not a repeat of the (in)famous dheeraj Kumar serial that was a rage over a decade ago. With his twisted (literally)smile, he dished out trash and we (due to lack of better options) actually sat and saw it. This was when TV meant doordarshan - or as I put it BC - Before Cable.
I wanted to talk about actors and actresses who came to the silver screen and then just..vanished! And one keeps thinking…where did that guy go? So, here we go.
1) Vidya Sinha: Famous star of the yesteryears - did some great movies - rajnigandha, love story - etc. wonder where she is at the moment?
2) Meenakshi Sheshadri - reining bollywood queen at one time - cast opp the big B in some films - of which Shahenshah was the most famous- I am sure even Raj Kumar Santoshi must be missing her - but I heard sometime back that she was doing classical dance performances and even plans to come back to movies.But, she did disappear without a trace.
3) avinash Wadhwan - champion of B grade films at one time. Was cast opposite some good actresses if I remember.
4)Sheeba - again, came in some B grade films - though she was introduced by Sunil Dutt. there was a rumour abt her and Akshay Kumar when they were doing films like Mr. Bond. Her last film was “Ms.420″ with that a**h*le - Baba Sehgal.
5) Kumar Gaurav- He was totally missing in Action till kaante brought him back…but then I dont know if he is a recluse by choice or by compulsion.
6) Danny - yes, where is danny nowdays? He isnt too old and I am sure he must be getting roles! BRING BACK DANNY!!!
7) Pran - I understand that he doesnt keep too well. But still, just wondering, where he is and what he would be doing at this stage in life…
Asha Sachdev- sex bomb of the 80’s - last seen in Fiza along with Jaya Bachchan - can we have some more of her pls…
10) Kimi Katkar - where is jumma nowdays? we are running out of leading ladies to star against the BIg B!
11) Sudhir - Where is S(h)udhir? Cant forget hisrole from the great gambler as the italian.
12) Sujit Kumar - the other italian from the great gambler - but more remembered for some great movies he did including aradhna.
13) Atul Agnihotri - salmans saala- did a few good and lots of not-so-good films.
14) and the biggest of them all - MAMTA KULKARNI - where is mamta? i want my mamta back….!!!!! I want her to do more films…how could she let kids like payal rohatgi, mona lisa, bipasha, amrita arora, etc usurp her throne????
The list would have been longer but TV gave a fesh lease of life to lots of actors - vivek mushran, rahul roy, mukehs khanna, parmeet sethi, sudha chandran, johny lever, shekhar suman, ravi behl…etc
why dont u guys go ahead and add names to the list…lets see how many of the “forgotten” can actually be remembered!

Where is the Cameraman of the “Karamchand Series” & movie “Jalwa” by Pankaj Prasher. I think Sunil Sharma was his name. Who ever he is. The unknown man brought a new life to cinematography in India. I tried searching his name on the internet but it did not help. Will any body tell me where he disappeared who he actually was and what is he doing now???

i just saw BOB Cristo at mumbai domestic airport yesterday.he was with his son but i think his condition is not good. he was travelling in an old maruti 800 car.
as far as yunus parvez is considered he died last month of heart attack at MIRA ROAD. he was living there since long time.

Huma Khan reminds me of another dancer who did a lot of bit roles in the eighties… she was in the Vinod Khanna Come-back film “Insaaf” and did played the dancer who works at Suresh Oberoi’s nightclub. In the second half of the movie, Khanna as a cop raids the nightclub and arrests her… saw here in a few more after that then she vanished.

What happened to Antara Mali after the disasterous “Mr. Ya Mrs?” Did Ramu run her out of the film world? She was awful in Naach but did give some of her best years to the RGV factory. It seems kinda unfair that RGV keeps going strong after so many awful films and she has to be run out of the business after a few failures.

We saw Bob Christo earlier today. Normally you need to shell out tons of money for a brunch with him (at Golden spa yoga), but we had it free (I mean we just paid our bill) - destiny man….what else - he seems fit like yesteryears and is a very friendly man considering he didn’t forget to say goodbye (and shake hands!!!) while leaving even though we sort of may have interrupted him. Mahendra Sandhu can now be seen on TV. There is a TV serial called Draupadi and he plays Drona (I think) in that. Preeti Sapru was a big star in Punjabi films. Tej sapru of course was well established as a character actor in Hindi films. They were both kids of Sapru, the late actor who played character roles in the 60’s - 80’s. ( he generally played the judge in court scenes - remember shahenshah?).

Varsha Usgaonkar - Was seen in a few Hindi films, most notably in TIRANGAA and recently as Rani Laxmibai in Aamir Khan’s MANGAL PANDEY. Now married to Ajay Sharma, son of yesteryear’s music director Ravi. Still seen in films in smaller roles and also in TV soaps.
Ritu Shivpuri - “Lal Dupatte Wali” from Govinda’s AANKHEN is married to Hari Venkat of ‘Venky’s Chicken’ and is settled in Mumbai.
Ramya Krishnan - Actress who played Sanjay Dutt’s moll in KHANAYAK and featured opposite Big B in BADE MIYA CHHOTE MIYA is married to Telugu director Krishna Vamsi.
I think Leena das’s last movie must have been a really dreadful piece of cinema called dil ka doctor with Anupam Kher in the lead. it was a made for TV film and bordered on absolute nonsense and involved lots of skin show… If i am not mistaken…

Om Prakash died about 10 years ago. Did you know that he had the most “colourful” vocabulary off screen - he could swear and abuse like a sailor.
Dr. Lagu : was more into theatre and was not keeping well till a few years back but am not sure whether he is amongst us now.
Iftekar: also passed away about 7-8 years ago.
IS Johar: Passed away long long time ago (10-15 years).

Col. Kapoor had retired from the army and was into films and TV. Could be seen in lots of Ads. Biggest claim to fame - he made fauji and cast a very young theatre actor called Shah rukh Khan. Saw his interview a few months ago about Shahrukh Khan.

I S Johar expired in 1984 to be precise. I still remember his dialogue in Johny Mera Naam when he looks at the screen pointing at Iftekhar and indicates” Pagal Hai” Please see the movie to enjoy the scene.He was my favourite comedian including Mehmood, Kishore Kumar and Keshto
sophocles I am still waiting to know about fariyaal and Polson.You seem to have a lot of knowledge.But I do not know how many people know these two by name.Once again, Fariyal played a prostitute in manoranjan (Sanjeev Kumar,Zeenat Aman ) and picks up a fight with ZA in one scene.Polson acted in lot many movies including Sabse Bada Rupaiyyah (Mehmood).

just for info. there were two Nasir husseins in bollywood.one was the famous director (uncle of Amir Khan, father of Mansoor khan)who directed Teesri Manzil, yadonki Barrat, Hum Kisise Kam Nahin, etc. and the other one was a cry baby old man.He always used to cry in all his movies.there used to be at least one scene in each movie he acted where he invariable used to cry. His well known movies are Ram Aur Shyaam (Wahida’s father), Kati Patang (He dies after Asha Parekh gives him poisoned milk) and many others.

There were vmany other character actors in the movies of 1960s whose names are also not known to us, although they were regularly featuring in movies.i think one such person is Bipin Gupta (?)
Anybody knows where is Raj Mehra ?He used to play the role of a kadak (strict) person.He was bald.I saw him last in Waaris (Smita Patil).I do not remember other movies, but he was very well known.

I think that guitar boy ranjit Chowdhary appeared in arecent movie-may be Fire (Shabana-Nandita) sorry but he was shown mastrebuing while watching an x-rated movie.May be it was not Fire but more recent one.

Some voluntary info from me; Amrish Puri had two elder brothers. Madan Puri is very well known. The eldest was Chaman Puri.He acted in many mythological movies (However, I am not too sure-somebody pl. help). If I am not mistaken, he also acted in Pyaar Kiye Jaa as Shashi kapoor’s father.
Mehmood’s father Mumtaaz Ali had sung a song Sabse Bada Rupaiyah in a very old movie which Mehmood himself sung in a movie (Sabse Bada Rupaiyyah-title song) and which was repeated in Bluff master (Abhishek Bachchan). Mumtaaz Ali also acted in the song Saji Rahi (Kunwara Baap) Mohd. Rafi gave him playback in that song.
Mukri was a childhood friend of Dilip kumar.May be that is why they acted in many films together.
Where is Vikram ? Hero of Julie .He acted in some horro movies.He also acted in that Raj Kumar Kohli multi starrer Raj Tilak (Pran,Sunil Dutt, Raj Kumar,Dharmendra,Kamal Hassan, etc.)
That handsome villain Hercules (Zebisco-Parveen Babi’s bodyguard in AAA) also expired about 20 years back of heartattack.At least that news was printed was many newspapers.

That was Tariq in YKB who also featured in Hum Kisise Kam Mahin(HKKN) and perhaps also in Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai and may be Manzil Manzil.there was one more tariq (Shah) who was sitting next to Rishi Kapoor in HKKN Qawwali and then he made Bahar Aane Tak with T-series which had a good song-Muhabbat,Inayat,Karam Dekhte Hain.
Prased AA is not married-Interested ????But difficult to trace her.She did not have a good reputation character wise in her acting days.No idea about current status.
