Kamal Hassan’s New Movie(Tamil)

Dashavataram

Kamal Hassan…. One of the best-EVER actor Indian cinema has given birth to has started working on his new project. Something so big and so glaringly different, that i bet no Indian cinema has ever produced. Just to get you started, the movie has Mallika ” mere kanne sillicon hain” sherawat in it. You may ask so what?

So what?

Mallika Sherawat with Kamal… Doesn’t it excite you?

No!!!!

Alright how about Mallika Sherawat Twice?

Twice?

Double role!!!

Wow double role huh!!! sweet.

Yeah Mallika will be playing a double role for the first time in her career.

Wow we always knew Kamal wanted as many women as he can in his movies. But why Mallika twice?

Because He is playing not one, not two, not three, no, no no… but freaking ten roles

WHAT?

Yep his new movie is titled DASHAVATARAM( Ten Avataars). Now insiders say he is playing the roles of orthodox Brahmin, a Karate Fighter, a dwarf, a scientist, a spy, an out cast person, a dark man, , a robber, a philosopher and a special role. Hmm interesting huh!!!

Now wait a second… Well it reminds me of lord Vishnu’s Avatars. Lets unslove it:

1 Orthodox Brahmin = Parashu ram

2. Karate Figher =(maybe) Narasimha

3. Dwarf = Vamana

4. Scientist = Kurma( Tortoise) Common scientist’s work at Tortoise pace( eeeks)

5. A Spy = Matsya( Fish) Common for thier sleek footedness… Plss believe me

6 Outcast = Varaha (Pig)

7. Dark Man = Ram(??????)

8. Robber = Krishna( Makhan=butter Chor)

9 Philosopher = Buddha

10 . Guest Role… Now this is interesting, after nine roles, he still needs GUEST ROLE? But, going by puranas, i guess it is kalki(Not yet on our gandaa world).

I guess the movies has just two outcomes.. either a path breaking movie or a complete disaster. Going by kamal’s past record, its anyone’s guess what would be the outcome.

Well He only can do 10 different roles convincingly. I was amazed by all the quadruplet roles in Michael madana kamarajan! So this is gonna be even more mindboggling.

@ Thilak… MMKR is cult movie.. i watched the telugu version, and my tamil friend said that it was faaaar better in tamil than in telugu… but, i fell in love with that movie.

  6. Thilak on October 4th, 2006 2:35 pm

Yeah I saw it once in Gemini (telugu channel) as well. Dont know telugu. But SPB’s voice over for kamal in telugu versions are always interesting.

I guess the man has earned his standing in the Indian movie industry…which kinda warrants his mostly brilliant, at times self-indulgent and mostly experimental undertakings that bends the normal perimeters of “safe & formulaic” tamil movies..you know, the songs & dances around trees, loud & jarring & emoting actors, heavy percussioned music etc etc… Kamal was perhaps the only beacon in an otherwise pedestrian movie industry where he innovatively introduced a silent movie (unheard of ever in India), a songless / duetless movie (cardinal sin in tamil movies), negative roles (no tamil hero will wanna be the bad guy) gender bending (an aged aunty at that!) and now, 10 roles in a movie.

    Keep going, Kamal >>>>

Yesterday I happened to see the latest creation of Kamalhasan - Dasavatharam. It is not fashionable to criticise such movies as it’s a totally new approach to story telling and it’s a crime to misunderstand a person like KAMAL. But I can’t help sharing the pain I experienced when I saw the movie.

There was no need to bring up the 12th Century rift between ’shivaites’ and ‘vaishnavaites’ to narrate a stupid crime story in the guise of Chaos theory. Kamal will not dare to denigrate other faiths by weaving his cheap stories around their mythology / history.

When the statue was thrown into the sea, it was very painful to see. The veracity of the incident shown is not known. It was most indecent on the part of Kamal to show such a blatant insult knowing very well that it’ll hurt those who worship Narayana.

Similarly the 45 minute footage denigrating the idol of Lord Govindaraj in the name of preventing the Vial from damage also could have been avoided. The idol is thrown around like a toy. It is deliberate and such a narration is not required to carry on the story.

Here is a great actor who falls for cheap publicity by denigrating his own religion. He has run out of ideas and perhaps driven mad and hence offers such perversions as creativity. May Lord Govindaraj bless him with some sense.
