Can you give me some idea, how Satish Kaushik Sir has managed to deliver a near classic… atleast going by the “Non” Psuedo Reviewer, Taran Adarshji’s four stars out of five rating… Can you give me some idea if the movie is a near classic what version of the movie did the Buzz reviewer, Raja Sen, along with the reviewers at Sify, Indiatimes and Glamsham watch? We think, Taran Adarshji has declared war on all people who do not agree with him. Why? We have no clue. Only Ramu Ghadiyali can tell. Can you give me some idea…

  2. One thing all reviews are united about – Himesh’s effort.

But then, effort alone doesn’t make a movie watchable…does it?

Some gyaan as usual shoved down on our ass in his reviews:

Gyaan No. 1 :Let’s get one thing straight. And this is very, very important and one shouldn’t overlook this fact. This is a masala film; the makers never ever promised new-age cinema.

Gyaan No. 2:Also, don’t expect KARZZZZ to pander to the tastes of the multiplex junta.

Gyaan No.3 :Himesh may not have the charisma of SRK, he may not be talented like Aamir, he may not be dashing and debonair as Salman and Akshay, but you can’t turn your eyes away from the fact that he has oodles of confidence and that makes the job easier..

Gyaan No.4 :Reincarnation themes have a super-successful track record, right from KARZ to KARAN ARJUN to OM SHANTI OM. Now add KARZZZZ to this list. Damn the pseudo critics who even rubbished KARZ three decades ago. Go by your instinct and have a blast!

    Thank you Mr. Adarsh.!

After reading all the reviews i am scared ! i want to see the movie but assume its the greatest risk of my LIFE ! [:D]
I want a first hand review of someone who took pain to watch the Karzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.I hadnt seen his debut flick too but later learnt it was a big HIT.
I wont be surprise if Karzzzz ranks in the HIT movies of the yr coz movies like Dronan and Kidnap ar doing well! I guess we, the audience somehow manage to catch at least one show of the worst movie , vomit vemon about them and in the process make others too go and watch the flick at least once and eventually makes a stupid film a big grosses! am i right ?

  8. Ajay as of now, i think this movie is not the rip roaring success it was expected to be. Its a wash out in the multiplexes, and only doing well at some single screens in UP, Rajasthan.

  9. Also to my knowledge both Drona and Kidnap have been duds. Drona especially is turning out to be the RGV Ki Aag of this year.

Hey!! If Himesh Reshamiya can become a hero (mind you.. i m not saying an actor, coz he can never be one) so can Kamal Khan aka KRK. If u watch closely, they have a lot in common. They both are self made men, and they both are obsessed wid self.
Moreover, our audience is so nice that they let every bodies dreams come true. So no surprise that even this film becomes a hit nd our industry is graced with another great hero called KRK.
Keep ur fingers crossed and hope for the best.

  21. @ Ajay, this is what TA had to say on Kidnap.

“The theatrical business of both KIDNAP and DRONA came sliding downwards from Day 2 [Friday] itself, but crashed completely from Monday onwards. In the domestic market, the film has seen a 70% – 80% drop [at places, even 90%]. Imagine the shock the distributors must’ve got when they must’ve seen the daily collections reports.

Studio 18, the distributors of KIDNAP, will lose a couple of crores, as per the current trends. The domestic market has been poor and Overseas is below par as well. And once the reports are out, even the Satellite price will now be badly hit. Hence, recovering the Rs. 40 cr. cost seems like a remote possibility.”

@Ratnakar/21 – www.ibosnetwork.com also has 20 Cr + domestic net figures for Kidnap. Surprised, its labeled a flop! Did it cost so much to produce? Drona has some 17 cr+ domestic net figures, I believe it cost 50 cr+ to produce, so fair enough to label it a dud. Haven’t see Kidnap, but was it so lavish?

@Jahan/22 – After seeing the tv promo, I had to go and find more about this guy! The tv promo though on mute gave me the absolute creeps!

@Joyjeet: You said, it man. Seriously. Oz paaji, no offence, but you need to get over Mr. Adarsh- it’s more than evident by now to all and sundry that he is an arrogant and ignorant fool, and we couldn’t care a tiny rat’s ass about his stupid opinion. He’s not even a movie critic, he just pretends to be one (if you ask me, this trade analysis business is also total bullshit, having the figures in front of you and then pretending to predict and analyse the fate of films) and then he has the nerve to call other people ‘pseudo-critics’.

All we are doing here is increasing his ego and misplaced sense of greatness and importance- besides, of course- the hits on BollywoodHungama.com. :)

  29. But one thing does make me wonder, does TA have a special affinity for HR. Because the same TA, mercilessly trashed Mimoh’s debut flick Jimmy, calling it a 80’s kinda movie. And now for Karzzz he says its a homage to 80’s movies.

Different strokes for different folks, i guess.

  31. I dont expect anything better from Adarsh, but what do you make of this line from Baradwaj Rangan, who i felt was one of the better movie reviewers, on Drona.

“But this is no lazy rehash. If anything, Drona comes off as the work of a fan who wants to reimagine the very things he’s a fan of – and Behl does this with the help of a superb behind-the-scenes team that appears attuned to his vision to an extent that collaborators rarely are, unless the director is, say, a Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This is a gorgeously mounted production, whose eye candy value alone is worth the price of entry, but it’s not just money that’s been thrown at the screen – it’s also imagination, which is far more precious. It’s not just the big effects sequences that seek out your attention – the dazzling animated stretches; the whorl of stones sinking into desert sand as it reveals the mystery in its midst; the stormy visual of Aditya’s forefathers whispering to him their secrets while he is reborn as a saviour – but the tiny details, like the hero’s steed bearing on its neck a tattoo of a blue conch that forms a part of the quest. Behl and his writers have conjured up a fully-formed, fully-connected alternate universe where even the scar that Drona is left with after being disfigured by the villain mirrors the scar his mother bore, and where a sequence with the villain and his clone is counterpointed with one where the hero faces a ghostly doppelganger”.

Maybe i guess Abbas Mustan and Sanjay Gupta, will start paying more and more homages now.

  33. Some interesting bits from the above article
“The common man has arrived. And he has done that with a style. Although he has played his role without any ‘hero-giri’ per se, Himesh Reshammiya has managed to create strength for himself by playing to the gallery, which has led to Karzzzz to be much more than just a watchable affair. ”

“Well, yes, he gets it right and yet again, without resorting to even attempting to be a hero. He plays his calling card right, that of an average common man, who has his moments of anxiety, the helplessness of being betrayed by his love, the sheer hopelessness of seeing death yet again in the second ‘janam’. And this is what makes Himesh’s Monty identifiable.”

“Himesh-Urmila interaction for the first time is rocking and peaks the drama big time”— who writes these kinda lines in an article???

And heres the best of all “Karzzzz is, what you call in typical Bollywood parlance, a timepass ‘masala’ flick. An unpretentious affair which doesn’t even aim at bringing it’s neck out and saying – ‘Hey, look at me, am I not really smart’. Instead, it says, ‘Come, have fun, and go home entertained.’ It is this ‘entertainment’ quotient, which makes Karzzzz an engrossing watch.”

  44. @Jahan: Maybe i did take things too far, but to be honest, i was disappointed at reading BR’s review. I mean i never expect anything much from TA, but BR is one of the few reviewers whom i like. Also earlier BR had gone all out to find faults in Rock On, MMJ, WTS, which is fair enough, but when he tried to justify everything in Drona, using some verbal jugglery, it looked pretty inconsistent to me.
