Kash Laga
[I am naming the article after the song 'Kash Laga' and I don't even smoke. But you know how it is...]
Socha nahin tha taqdeer yahan laayegi
Manzil pe aate hi jaan chali jaayegi
O, yeh to Sikandar ne bhi nahin tha socha
Aane se pehle khushi laut jaayegi
Humne socha tha kya, aur kya se kya hua
Jaa rahe hai aaj yeh zamaane ko bataake
‘Socha Nahi Tha’, is one of the recent song, which would describe my feelings most of the time. And after the last night of some injustice……, the aforementioned song describes my current mood. I have been listening to the song on a continuous loop and don’t feel like doing anything apart from blogging it. Only last night I was scratching my head about what to write and by today’s afternoon…
I don’t have a personal blog, so blogging it here. So somehow have to connect my misery with the letter ‘C’ in PFC. C for creative? And ‘C’ does not stand for ‘Crazy’ because K stands for ‘Krazzy’, so you cannot include that connection. But I am passionate hence the misery. So there, there is a connection, you see… not redefining C in PFC, though.
There isn’t anything special about the song with respect to the language or poetry (what do I know about the poetry), but the song does capture the dard feel and because of that whenever something goes wrong I tend to sing that song. Nothing creative about the song – its just the simplicity that says it all.
Shaan’s other sober song Kaash from Home Delivery, is also my favorite.
Apni Saari Manzilein Kash Mil Jaati Hamein
Bhul Humse Na Koi Ek Bhi Hoti
Kaash Aisa Hota..
Why would I want to sing a sad song? In fact, why do people listen to sober songs when they are a bit down?! Or is it non-creative person listens to songs rather than writing down a ghazal?! Beats me!
Then there is Mirza Ghalib’s ghazal Zulmatkade Mein Meri sung by Jagjit Singh. Do I understand the ghazal? Hell no! But, it is one of the ghazal, that I have played most in my playlist. There is something about the first few couplets..
zulmatkade mein mere shabeGam kaa josh hai
ik shammaa hai daliilesahar, so Khamosh hai..
Then there is Khoon Chala. One of the song that tries to motivate me and never fails. One of the most haunting and inspirational song… ever! Mohit Chauhan is never going to sing a better song than this. It will, in fact, should be his best song by miles. In two decades time people of my generation will mention this song when discussing Prasoon Joshi, like people mention “Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Jaye” when discussing Sahir Ludhianvi.
Kuchh Kar Guzarne Ko Khoon Chala Khoon Chala
Aankhon Ke Sheeshe Mein Utarne Ko Khoon Chala
Badan Se Tapak Kar, Zameen Se Lipatkar
Galiyon Se Raston Se Ubharkar, Umadkar
Naye Rang Bhar Ne Ko Khoon Chala Khoon Chala
Now, for a second blog, let ‘C’ in PFC stand for ‘Cricket’. Because I want to talk about Nautanki Kirkut, which is the Indian Premier League – Twenty20. The two people: Shah Rukh Khan (& Juhi Chawla) and Preity Zinta from Bollywood have brought a bit of Natuanki to the cricket and to be fair, they did get an invitation from the BCCI.
Shah Rukh Khan (& Juhi Chawla) bought Kolkata IPL franchisee and have renamed the franchisee Kolkota as Kolkota Knightriders. Is that the best they could do with the name! A kid would have come up with a better name. Then, there are the music videos promoting his franchise, in which Shah Rukh khan is dancing – a bit of Dard-E-Dsico with cricketers and wannabe strippers. If they had a streaker in the video then I could see the logic, but strippers?! I guess Indian audience is more comfortable with watching strippers on the TV. What other conclusion can I come up with?!
Shah Rukh Khan, is a bit smart when it comes to promoting his films; he had attended a few cricket matches around the world to promote his both films Chak De! India and Om Shanti Om. I thought that was a smart move back then, but now he has an opportunity to promote more films through his franchise has irked me a bit. Because it will ruin the game I love so much. I don’t want to see cricketers on the field promoting a film or dancing. I want them playing a game of cricket.
Then there is Preity Zinta and her partner’s franchise Punjab. They have renamed it as Kings XI Punjab or is Punjab Xi Kings? Are they and Shah Rukh Khan having a competition with who can come up with a rubbish name?! It is so difficult to believe that both of them come from a creative field and cannot think of a better name. How hard is that?!
They also have come up with a video to promote their franchise. To be fair, their video at least concentrates on Cricket. But still, it is a joke. Preity Zinta, in full clothes, dancing in the video, as a fan. But not as a genuine fan.
But they did something outrageously stupid by dragging Indian cricket players from the second test match agaisnt South Africa, for their launch party?! How could they do that?! They have already started messing up cricket and our Indian Team.
Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta please spare us! I will forgive you both for doing rubbish films and messing up the Indian Film industry, if you two could stay away from cricket!
And Sony Max, a film channel, will be showing the matches?! Why cannot people let sport be sport! Sport can be entertaining – full of dramas – misery – joyful – jubilation – everything. It does not need to be Bollywoodized. And unfortunately, BCCI and people from Bollywood are Bollywoodizing the cricket.
That is it. I have spitted out whatever I wanted to. It took me four hours to write; I could have used those hours to do something else better, I guess. Writing can be very exhausting. Now I need to write a conclusion.
I am actually hungry, so will have my lunch now and then maybe do a bit of studying….

@ Honhar,
you are dpressed because SRK and PZ are making it tamasha. It seems your( and other cricket lovers) agony is going to increase further.because not only Indian players but foreign players are also dying(ready to revolt agains their board) to be part of this tamasha.

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/ipls-big-money-makes-cricket-boards-jittery/62977-5.html
SRK nad PZ claims that they are doing it for promoting cricket. How ?
SRK and PZ will bring more value to cricket by introducing some innovative awards:
1)who was best looking even after whole match/series?
2)who danced better before/during/after taking a catch/wicket in match/series?
3)who was best dressed (less grass/soil stains) at the end of match/series?
4)who has best six/eight/sixteen pack/box body?
5)who takes off their shirt/pant/chaddi maximum number of times during a over/inning/match/series (4 different category) ?
apart form cash, the winners in the above said category will get direct entry in “kya app pachvi pass se jyada moorkh hai” or a cameo role any of SRK/PZ’s movies .
ICL – Idiot’s chutiya cricket.
Hey Aditya, listening to “kabhi to milegi” from Aarti on your blog. Lata’s devine voice and inspiring lyrics…gr8 combo for elevating spirits. Thanks.
@Aditya
Thanks for the link to Ghalib. And yes been to ur blog. What a coincidence, i was putting my post on Kaifi Azmi’s lyrics today, and i hear the song Dheere Dheere Machal Ae Dil E Beqaraar on your post too. What a song that was Kaifi’s lyrics, Hemant Da’s music and Lata’s voice, i must have played that song umpteen times, and yet every time i am transported to another world. Sheer magic.
Aditya,
I was aware of that website and because of that website I got to understand the first verse and the last verse, but don’t understand rest of it.
To be honest, I was hooked to the ghazal beacuse of its composition and the way Jagjit Singh sang it and then I started appreciating the ghazal – lyrics.
Faltu,
I would not say I am depressed because of IPL, but totally irked by the tamasha going around. It has become circus. Perhaps they have realized they can sell their circus through Bollywood, so why not through cricket, eh?!
@HG
At least you know what is pissing you off!
so, rambling seems like a good idea to get over it…did it work?
not really. i am still so peeved. i don’t feel like doing anything. will have to watch either Chupke Chupke or Golmaal or Khatta Meetha or Home Delivery again.
i don’t wanna watch Swades or RDB again cos then I would be singing ‘Yeh Jo Des Hain Tera’ all day! in fact, i might watch it again..
or a win will be much better.
nice one, HG.
agree with you completely on ye kya hogaya rama re. on all accounts. and of course kaash. songs that I go back to often are(current favorites) tiny dancer(elton john), khwaja mere khwaja, some fun bappi da numbers, songs by geeta dutt & suraiyya, heroes(david bowie), mae nee(atif). n ya, lately this dil haara song from tashan and falak tak has also been impressive.
i m also miffed by this ipl/icl crap 8-|. i have written about this in my blog as well: http://crazyrals.blogspot.com
