Films like KM – Thoda Hai, Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai….
Quite an honest depiction of the Parsi community. This theme was remade 2 years later in Hamare Tumhare (Sanjeev Kumar, Rakhee), but lacked the soul that Khatta Meetha had. Khatta Meetha’s overall lightheartedness was in sharp contrast with the weepy that Hamare Tumhare was, yet Khatta Meetha was far more emotionally engaging.
Interestingly, both these films were based on the 1968 Hollywood film Yours, Mine and Ours, which was remade in Hollywood in 2005. Looks like a very appealing script….at least to the producers.
