Khosla Ka Ghosla Director’s Next Film
It’s been a long time coming.
Just read an article on IndiaFM.com that Dibakar Banerjee, Director of the critically acclaimed, immensely likeable film “Khosla Ka Ghosla” has finally announced his next film.
Titled “Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye” (kickass title IMHO) the film stars the talented Mr. Abhay Deol as a thief who, as per Banerjee himself, “starts a normal thief and then later climbs up the status graph and becomes a very rich and well known crook.”
The film also co-stars Neetu Chandra (of Traffic Signal… we’ll conviently forget that Garam Masala was infact her debut film) and, what seems to be the ace up Banerjee’s sleeve, Paresh Rawal in an interesting Triple Role.
If Anupam Kher, Ranvir Shoery, Parvid Dabas, Navin Nischol and even Tara Sharma put in some stellar performances, one looks forward to even more from “Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye” (which I’m guessing will be referred to as OLLO.. not quite as cool is it?).
What’s most encouraging though is that the director is decidely sticking to what I firmly believe to be the secrets to his success: research and attention to detail. As noted in the article, Banerjee states, “Since, my film is set in Delhi; we would go out on the streets of Delhi to study various characters because I am very particular about the kind of reality I depict in the film.”
Coming from any other Director that statement may not have held much validity. But after multiple viewings of “Khosla Ka Ghosla” (each almost more enjoyable than the last), this is a cause for excitement. KKG was such a great film largely in part due to the realistic ambiance: One feels Delhi all around them when watching the film. It’ll be nice to experience it again, likely from an altogether different perspective, from “Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye”.
Here’s wishing Dibakar Banerjee the best of luck for his upcoming feature, which hopefully will hit the big screens by the end of this year (should be complete by the end of August). I for one can’t wait.

Same as you. Will watch it First Day First Show, and I’m sure, for once, my family will also want to accompany me.
hope we don’t get too many more copying dibakar’s palindroming of titles, else we’ll end up with titles like heyyy babyyy heyyy babyyy heyyy and ramgopal varma ki aag ki varma ramgopal
@ striker
lol
what do you say!
OLLO is damn cool
khosla ka ghosla is some movie.
add me too in the list of eagerly awaiting ollo :x
@striker..lol
LOL @ Striker! If Sajid Khan’s next was titled “Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye”, I’d freak out. It’d be like “What the hell kinda shit is this?” But Dibaker Banerjee has at least earned the benefit of the doubt. So its creative. And I’m a damn hypocrite like that.
me too a great fan of KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, a brilliant movie.
The whole story ,characters there moves , action , thought process and reactions were so real, still the movie was comic and entertaining.
eagerly waiting for its director’s next project.
@Tony:))…LOL…just LOVED Khosla Ka Ghosla…though that was as much (or maybe even more) of a Jaideep Sahni film….nevertheless, keenly looking forward to seeing what this talented director has to offer next…:)>-
Who is writing the script for this one?
Yeah, I’m a big big fan of “Khosla Ka Ghosla” as well.
No doubt Jahan that Jaideep Saini did a fantastic job on the screenplay of KKG. He was credited as the “Creative Producer” as well so obviously his contributions to the film were massive.
Not sure who is writing this new film, not a lot of info available online (at least not much that I can find). Never know, it might indeed be Jaideep. Either way, let’s hope its just as good of a script, that’s half the battle won IMHO.
im there first day first show :)
i hope that alnog with some intresting performances this also has some kick ass music :)
Sounds like Catch me if you can!
Chak De Phatte Vivek! LOL…
Why Pavan? Because of the whole thief working his way up the status ladder? There’s dozens of films that basic plot fits with.. from Amitabh’s character in Trishul to Anil Kapoor and Johnny Lever in Deewana Mastana…
My bets on the fact that this will be something original…
